      What he's talking about is the lower abdominal fat. Pelvic fat you see on women where they store fat for hormonal balance. You'll see it when women wear jeans. The pelvic area is pudgy. Fit women have fat pelvic area.

    In a similar vein, it's important to remember that the way bodybuilders look on stage is not a state we should aspire to be in. Even the bodybuilders don't usually look like that. Their on stage appearance is actually them at their weakest and least healthy, because they're dehydrated, malnourished, and probably below their essential body fat levels. It's not a great idea to be obese either, but I feel most people already understand that.

    • @dorrianbrooks9408

There are plenty of powerlifters who take such an insane amount of gear they look like a bodybuilder anyway, plus even as a lighter powerlifter my cardio is horrible and it's even worse for any of the other powerlifters I know. The issue with both bodybuilding and powerlifting is they are so narrow minded that both don't do that great a job of making you healthy. Obviously in moderation both are good but there are definitely better ways to get healthy (ex: calisthenics + running)

    • @dorrianbrooks9408
      @dorrianbrooks9408 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @ezechieldzimeyor4541 yeah, I probably should've made the distinction that powerlifting isn't the healthiest either. There should have probably been some more nuance in this discussion. It obviously really depends on how big those ab muscles are and genetics. Even at 15-20% abs can show. Also a lot of fit women you can very clearly see the oblique muscles but not the rectus abdominis (the six pack part), so be careful how you define it

    No periods? I'm getting me a 6 pack.
    Edited for explanation
    The truth is I can't anyway. I have a huge piece of hernia mesh and a belly full of scar tissue to go with my PCOS.A period can be painful enough to need a trip to the hospital as cramping pulls on the scar tissue. I have 3 teenagers and I have had a tubal ligation. Menopause is helping because it's all winding down. Yes, I was being facetious but for genuine reasons. The problem is that women have less testosterone than men, and wider hips which makes it harder to run faster. There's also the fact that women have less muscle than men. So putting women in close combat roles is a bad idea, because they don't have enough muscle mass that is required in close combat. I do agree that women can take combat roles that don't require being in close combat like a sniper, or a helicopter pilot that shoots, or bombs the enemy's. feels like some men just want women to go under the knife for breast implants that weaken their muscles.
      I can still have body fat (10%-13%) for support but also visible muscles, specifically triceps and pectorals because they're HELPFUL! (men just want women to be helpless mammals that don't look human).
      I won't be weak no matter how many men want to convince me to be. or how much "data" they want to use.
      sexual selection is the reason women became weaker, tho they weren't originally weaker. this really angers me. permanent breasts are even a mutation because of sexual selection and according to business insider, breast fat reduction reduces breast cancer risk by a staggering 95%. breast fat doesn't mean more milk glands. In fact, it impedes lactogenesis according to the international consortium of milk genomics.
      sexual selection caused women to look the way they do rn. I'd want to reverse that crap any day.

You are open to many other health problems like diabetes, heart disease which is skyrocketing, cancer, stroke, etc,... Don't eat processed foods like processed grains, hydrogenated oils like canola and most plant oils, sugary foods foods with unnatural sweeteners... What should you eat? A lot of healthy fat and healthy cholesterol, and healthy omegas. Best sources are additive free lard, real butter, homemade ghee, tallow, cold pressed unrefined coconut oil (as long as you don't heat it), fish low in Mercury, egg yolks. If you want a sweet treat stop stuffing your face with cake.... Make Russian custard using raw local honey. Add a tad of raw local honey to those healthy fats and enjoy those fats by the spoonful as snacks. I solved adrenal, thyroid and weight issues by going grain free sugar free and doing plenty of healthy fats and cholesterol and I also don't have overweight issues anymore because my body needs the healthy fat for all the functions that guy mentioned and more!

Now those are just surface level, beauty standards of most eras are defined by what the ideal female body was in that era and the differences are drastic, men's standards more or less don't waver honestly. so yeah, I hear you but not comparable, plus men's beauty standards are generally also not pressurized as hard.

      @@uncroppedsoopgod wtf, people here are weird. Having abs developed for a woman is completely fine, just because you grow more muscles as a woman doesn't fucking mean you'll die. The issue is when people try to define them by decreasing the level of fats in their body. The minimal healthy amount recommended for women is 12%, and if you go under that, your abs will be more toned, but you'll probably have more health issues.
      There's a difference between having a highly visible six pack and a slightly visible one.
      + fat distribution varies in people, some might have more fat on their stomach, some on their back and thighs, some in between, etc. If you have less fat on your stomach your abs might be more visible. I believe i saw a person saying here that abs can be visible at 12-14 fat percentage but idk.
      People here are misunderstanding what the doctor said and thinking that building muscles for women is unhealthy.
      If you're a woman and want a six pack, go for it, but also maintain the needed fat percentage.
      There's also different types of fat and genetics, god, doctors MUST go into these details or else people will misinterpret their words.

    There are different levels to ab visibility. Many people could stand to lose fat and wouldn't risk these downsides. When most women think of wanting a "six pack," they usually just want them barely visable with the line down the middle. You don't have to get shredded for that.
    It's also worth noting that building muscle everywhere will spread out your fat across more surface area, making abs easier to maintain.

  • @redhidinghood9337
    @redhidinghood9337 ปีที่แล้ว +110

    A caveat is that your 6 pack / ab muscles could still be visible even with sufficient fat (12% is still very little tho generally speaking for both women and men) if you train hard a built up those muscles. This was so informative thank you ! I naturally have low body fat % , and due to a neurophysiological disease I have thinning bones as well . I was considering getting the surgery to remove my uterus and/or ovaries because I’m in so much pain all the time and it’s gotten worse into my 30s, but it seems like with my specific health issues combined this could accelerate me into a dangerous place . Gosh bodies are complex messes sometimes

    Wellp, I guess it's all about the individual organism. I ovulate, I menstruate, I have a kid, I have abs and have had abs for a long time. Guess I'm divergent 😂

    This tells me that my health nut mother who shamed me any time I had any weight on me at all will have more bone density loss as a result of her obsession with not ever gaining weight.
    I like this information. She deserves it.
