Malaysia is for all Malaysians, not just Malays, says PM Anwar in retort to Mahathir

  • Being Malay should not be a reason to deny others their rights under the Federal Constitution, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. READ MORE: str.sg/iwed
He said this during a question-and-answer session at the opening of the International Malaysia Law Conference on Monday (July 10).
Anwar’s response comes after former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad continued insisting that “Malaysia is a Malay country" despite the loud criticisms from moderates who defended multiculturalism.

Anwar is right. 60 years ago talked about Malaysian Malaysia which led to the independence of Singapore. 60 years later still talking about the same topic of race while other countries have progressed far ahead. Who cares who Malaysia belongs to if there is nothing left but an outdated country that cannot get out of its past? 🤦🏻

Anwar Ibrahim recognises the imperative for Malaysia to revitalise itself as a prominent Asian Economic Powerhouse within the span of a decade. The brain drain phenomenon, which had previously resulted in the emigration of many Malaysians, mainly to Singapore, is poised to reverse as these individuals perceive the enticing and equitable prospects available within Malaysia with the new government. By capitalising on its abundant natural resources and attracting foreign investments, Malaysia can surpass its regional counterparts and achieve a favourable position within a decade. With a sustained commitment to a unifying vision, exemplified by Anwar's successor, Malaysia has the potential to emerge as one of the larger economies in the region within a 20-year time frame.

@MrJamieHan my point is, politicians should stop using 3r as a basis to cause civil unrest in the country. Our Rukun Negara are very beautifully crafted. We all know and recite it by heart since we were in primary schools. It is not crafted, for the purpose of causing divisions or incite hate amongst its citizens.
Please read our Rukun Negara again. I think you have missed your point here. I hope you will understand that, what you are saying and what is being discussed here are two separate matters.
Please do not misinterpret our Rukun Negara which we hold dear to our heart as a principal of how the citizens of Malaysia should live by.
My father taught me, if you have nothing good to say, please do not say it, or you will look like a fool. I could apply the same advice to Mahathir. If he has nothing good to speak, then he shouldn't run his mouth. It's foolish.

The rural Malays seemed to have gotten smarter especially the younger offspring of the small plantation owners of FELDA. Hence, they know that the current PM or DSAI as he is affectionately called, is sincere and passionate about their well being. The rural folks of yesteryears believed Dr M, but found themselves not much advancement in life, while Dr.M and his so called "bumiputera" party members driving expensive cars and their children sent to private schools and overseas universities. Due to Dr M's unwise policy of only Malay language instruction in government schools, the people was not given the opportunity to excel in English, the language of international understanding and commerce. Do not follow Japan's strict policy of only Japanese for Japan. They even rejected Peruvians of Japanese descent who can't speak pure Japanese.

What about SJK ? Don't we use our own language there ? That policy is fine since the majority of people that aren't excel in English is from the rural area. Be it Malay, Chinese or Indian. Go to any school in the urban area and you will see how good our students in their English mastery. Theres nothing wrong in using Bahasa. It is our national language anyway. We should be proud of our identity and not trying to be something that we're not. We just need to improve our schools and English courses in the rural area.

We made an even bigger mistake to reappoint him as a prime minister again during GE14 just to see him doing all these nonsense. This old man is no longer relevant and has done too much things that are very hard to reverse especially on the issues on racial in Malaysia.
