If you throw a homerun pitch as the most spoiled position in the game of baseball, you can watch him watch the ball go out of the park and pretend like the batter couldn't possibly have known that it would have been a homerun and that they should have ran, even though the pitcher probably knew when it left their hand that it was getting smashed
What's wrong with pausing for a few seconds to watch your homer?
Either some folks have a fragile ego or they think baseball cures cancer, so they don't want any "disrespecting the game", smh.
Some folks just care wayyy too much about things that affect their life in no way shape or form.
@Hayden WaschOK, I'll play along... To a batter it's like someone trying to punch you in the face but you grabbed their fist and bent it back in self defense it may be "like" a punch in their little sensitive ego, but the reality is that they threw a ball that got jacked.... deal with it like an adult and don't get pissy like an angry child.
Nothing. It's a great way to get in a team's head. That's why there are no rules against it.
Shawn Jones Nothing. Pitchers are just fragile pussies.
What's wrong with posing and styling for a moment before taking communion, blowing kisses at the groom's mother and grabbing your crotch as you give your daughter away, or rolling your eyes every time your boss instructs you to do something? None of that is technically illegal. Some things just need to be done a certain way based on social convention, and if you do something you know will be offensive, you have to expect to deal with someone being pissed off. Short answer: you just don't do it that way if you're a professional.
3:16 wasn't an unwritten rule, it was breaking an actual rule.
Well...not exactly. The MLB implemented the "Utley Rule" 4 months later.
Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada broke his fibula and was out for weeks, missed playing in the World Series.
@@dvhughesdesign as a Mets fan Tejada had a good career going and he hasn't touched a MLB diamond since the injury
@@troyd95He was a solid player. I just saw a guy 1/2 hour ago in my neighborhood with a Mets Tejada tshirt on.
@@dvhughesdesign I can't believe they didn't do anything to that runner, despicable.
i will agree that is not cool at all to do but it could be called ethier way
Breaking the unwritten rule. The unwritten rule is that you have to sub to Wesley
He set himself up for that one
250 subs with no content you only have 235 hahha
The same rule applies to Jomboy. You haven’t lived if you haven’t had the pleasure of watching a Jomboy breakdown.
Who's that gay
Get over yourself. I’d love to see more celebrations from big hitters.
Thank God that's the trend baseball is heading in. Players like Tim Anderson, Acuña Jr and Tatis Jr are making the game more exciting.
Can you do a part 2 to Chris Archer being a hypocrite
Amen to this
I would just like to have the second hr Deitric hit that day included in that clip. It was another river ball and he watched that one even longer.
that is not even funny
So glad we traded him.
Archer needs to take those fake dreads off his head. What a clown
That mic’d up moment was AMAZING. that umpire is badass
baseball teams clearing the dugouts is the funniest thing. "hold me back hold me back" lol. rarely does anything ever happen
Hockey players fight - the rest posture.
That fight with Terry Collins was like a heart breaking movie scene where the characters confess their feelings.
Weaver should’ve been banned for a year
For throwing at someone’s head.
I don’t know about that, but you never throw at a guys head. It’s extremely fucking dangerous. Take Adam Greenberg for example. His first ever major league at bat, he gets hit in the back of the head with a 92 mph fastball, underneath his helmet. He suffered a sever concussion, along with vertigo and vision issues. He never played in the majors again, aside from a one-day contract with the Marlins.
TheNeoEnigma what year was that ?
Weaver clearly didn't want to hit him. The guy was a perennial All Star selection for the majority of his career and would be able to hit the batter if he wanted to
@@logan_nowicki So you're saying that Weaver's control is so good, that it was intentionally aimed to almost hit Avila in the head? Avila, a guy who had nothing to do with the earlier HR, and has a reputation of being a gentleman of the game.
Weaver was a hothead, particularly that year when he faced Verlander and they were both forerunners for the Cy Young.
@@BobHarrison1229 Actually yeah, at that point in his career Weaver could easily do that.
I’ve never seen anything like that, mic’d up like that. Thanks for uploading this. That was amazing.
Can we talk about the professionalism of the ump applaud that man
Heartbreaking...Top of the 9th and a perfect game disappears.
That is what you call an A1 chicken shit move. He deserved that perfect game.
And 2 outs!!!
And if the nats challenged it by rule it turns into a strike and the guy had 2 strikes so it would be a perfect game
Almost like an Almondo Gallaraga flashback
Gallaraga for the Detroit Tigers. If you haven't seen what happened with his perfect game. You need to
The first one makes me mad and I don’t even like the nationals
Why?? Batters job is to get on base. ANYWAY POSSIBLE!!
*Besides ... Besides ... Besides*
Players in 60's & the 70's used to lean in so they can get hit. Even an Boston Red Sox player was known to get HBP by purposely lean into the pitch.
Pitchers these days are a bunch of pussies.
@@kevinthetruckdriver353 If you ignore the fact that it's against the rules to lean into pitches like that then sure.
@@nickmessner700 - there's a whole bunch of rules that players & coaches try to get around. Leaning into pitches is one of them. Good luck on trying to prove the batter intentionally try to break the rules. Without video replay.
@@kevinthetruckdriver353 But we're talking about why the clip is frustrating. While watching a video replay. We can see him intentionally lower his arm into the ball, so what point are you trying to make? He did a scumbag thing and people got annoyed, move on.
@@nickmessner700 - Why did the clip frustrated you?? The object of the game is pitcher throws the ball. The batter tries getting on base by a walk, hit, error, PB/WP on third strike or HBP. The pitcher threw it inside & hit the batter. That's the breaks.
So again, Nick *Why are you frustrated??*

Is there more mic'ed umps like this. This is cool stuff.
That’s the first time I’ve heard an umpire mic’ed up, love the insight. Wish I could handle being yelled at like that.
Honestly these pitchers seem over-sensitive to batters celebrating
Weaver yes, Archer no. There should be less showboating in all sports. When you succeed at your job, is it okay to gloat about it to everybody around? That makes you an asshole who can't handle success- same with somebody who wants to watch their homerun like that douchebag on the Reds. They can watch the film and see that shit. It's meant to disrespect the other team.
@@slightexag wow you sound fun!!
Sports its still a game. Yeah it's a job but it's a game
@@slightexag Trash talk is what makes competitive sports/games more entertaining. You're too soft
@@DruidsCalling i'm not talking about trash talk. you hear stories about jordan and ichiro talking trash, that's great. To stare at your homerun like you've never hit one before is something else entirely. it's not soft to prefer sportsmanship. i'm not saying the game needs to be less fun - we all like jomboy's breakdown of walkoffs and stuff. there's just a difference between trash talk, showboating, and celebrating.
That sound on Anderson’s HR, heavenly
Although I'm an old school MLB fan I hate all these "unwritten rules" and the whole "you HAVE to respect the game.." BS! The object is to win the game, if was a manager I would be stealing bases even with a 10 run lead. This is why I'm glad when any of these old crusty "Sparky" Anderson type managers retires. They are dinosaurs!
Terry, Terry, Terry!! 😭🤣🤣😂 This is how baseball game should be showed
Carlos Guillen only taunted Weaver because he yelled at Magglio Ordozñez for staying in the box on a home run that was barely fair. God that game was fun
Unexaggerated Aliva had to know a ball was coming his way too.
p0l1c3dude for sure. Sucks for him too because he was so cursed with concussions at that time
Imagine Jared Weaver throwing his 78 MPH fastball at you.
Shane Denney it was 92, when he wasn’t old bro
Lol

Nah back then it was clean. That's why they made the rule after the postseason to make sure slides like that wouldn't be legal anymore.
That's great umpiring right there. He understands the energy of the game and talks to people with authority, but also respect.

@5:34- OUR ASS IS IN THE JACKPOT! What does that even mean? Love it!!!
Who they're selling out. Coaches, umps, players
I think it means if they don't do something it's the umps asses who are going to be the big prize not any of the players. Basically the players will eat suspensions but the umps could be losing jobs
It means that if the umpires didn’t do something about it, they would be in trouble by the league.
Could also be titled "Fear of the JackPot"
It basically looks like a compilation of pitchers getting absolutely triggered so they have to throw the ball at their face, back or arm lol
