Good to see you are navigating by pub to pub. Its the only way.
Blackberries should only be eaten above Dog height!
Very true! 👊
😂 If you know, you know.
And if you soak them in water, and see what "friends" come out of them... you'll generally want to wait until you take them home. Unless you're looking for extra protein ;-)
Hi I’m from the UK and I randomly stumbled upon your video which I’m loving. You guys really are great to watch and funny. It made me giggle how you said “the Severn river” it’s just Severn like the number Severn lol! But great videos I’m enjoying watching them I’m glad you enjoyed the UK and the Cotswolds and everyone was welcoming to you both
Hahaha thank you for the correction! And thank you so much for watching!!!
@@Off.Day.Adventures There is a path called the Severn Way which is in some ways similar to the cotswalds way, it takes you from the mouth of the river Severn all the way up to the source at the peak of the Cambrian mountains in mid Wales, its roughly 210 miles long and includes pretty much the same path of the cotswalds path but along the coastline instead from Bristol to Gloucester and then onwards, to do it comfortably without doing 15 miles everyday it might take like 20 days which is just crazy. Though the views can be extremely pretty, especially during the later hours, there are some cool features to see as well, such as walking under the huge Prince of Wales Bridge which connects England and Wales.
Rachel is amazing. Nothing will ever beat her ❤
hahaha maybe the heat!
Love the pub lunches!
Another great upload, sad to think only 3 days left! Hope you can both do a review/reflection video now you're back home on your trip and experience. I hope it lived up to your expectations 🤞
I know right! And we’ve been loving reliving it through these videos. It went above and beyond our expectations!
You guys have some fans.............
River severn pronounce like 7!! Love seeing this goe through my childhood area
Thank you for watching! 7 - got it! ;)
Came to your endevours via Mark Masterson YTuber. Rationed myself to 1 day at a time cos I don't want the epic journey to end! Love to both of you from England!
Oh wow! Thank you so much for watching! We're about to do a Q&A video with Mark!
Hi .I only came across your channel last night and I've watched all the Cotswolds videos so far. Absolutely love them ! Hope you don't mind but i follow a reaction channel of a lovely American chap who reacts to UK stuff and I've sent him the link to your channel to react too. I think he will be interested in the mix of history and nature you cover in your videos.hope that's ok he is mark from the states 😊can't wait to see the next one . Best wishes from Manchester UK xx
We're about to do a Q&A video with Mark! So THANK YOU for sharing it with him :)
WOW you got my attention. Really great video by the way. Nicely put together.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed!!!
great video just found you on this one, going to start from the start, great video again,
Thanks for watching!!!
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant episode guys! This channel is pure gold!
Ahhhh thank you so much!
Fantastic and incredible adventure. Congrats on mastering such a challenge you can be proud of yourselves. Great video of your trip!
Thank you for watching!!! A challenge indeed 😂
I have just found your videos thank you they are great, well done walking up and down all the hills. You walked almost past my house? I have walked and been to many of these places, once a year there is a 25-mile walk around Stroud called the 5 Valleys walk that is tough.
We're in Nailsworth, I completely forgot about the 5 Valleys Walk, must look that up and bookmark for next year.
Thank you so much for watching! So many hills...haha!
Some people talk the talk but your walking the walk
And would do it again!
That was a big day, well done!
Thank you for watching!!
Been following you on your walk ( i mean on youtube ) not in person 😁 your doing great and im loving the scenery around you. Never been to the cotswolds but i will do one day .
Hahaha thank you for watching!
Why not try the Ridgeway next? 87 miles on chalk upland. Starting at Avebury stone circle and finishing at Ivinghoe Beacon. A neolithic track that'll take you through, stone monuments, ancient barrows, Iron Age forts and chalk horses.
The 100 mile South Downs Way between Winchester and Eastbourne in Southern England, within the South Downs National Park, has a lot to commend itself for similar reasons, though I'd say I think the scenery is even more impressive, from quiet lanes and villages in the west, long downland hilltop walking in the central sections with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, to awesome coastal clifftop sections on the eastern leg.
The Ridgeway is next on our radar for next year 2024. We live in the Cotswolds and hike here weekly. I've especially wanted to do the Ridgway for its historical significance but also the neolithic and Iron Age sites.
Yaaay! You snogged at the kissing gate! xx
🤗🤗🤗🤗
Rubus fructicosus (blackberry) is not invasive in the UK, it's native to the UK. Does very well in Gloucestershire because it's so well watered but also sunny so just about perfect growing conditions for it.
It's all very steep around Dursley! I'm ready happy to see how friendly every one is to you both.
Everyone was SO NICE! I hope Americans treat visitors the same way...
Last time I was up Cam Long Down (the ridge you mentioned) on the way down had to point out to the wife a very large Adder basking in the sun next to the path, it took off pretty quick though…. Great series guys…
What is an adder?! Thank you for watching!!
@@Off.Day.Adventures a “common European Viper” - the UKs only poisonous snake…
OHHHH HECK NO!!!! Glad we didn't see it!@@elwynj5379
@@Off.Day.Adventures I’m north east of Bristol and the southern Cotswolds is my ‘backyard’, unfortunately it’s been doing nothing but rain for weeks! Looking forward to Spring arriving soon and the footpaths drying out a bit, at least the Daffodils are all out now.
@@elwynj5379The Winter has been so bloody wet!! 😢😢
Great videos guys. My son and I matched your Chipping Campden to Bath feat in 8 days a few years ago. But we had less heat since we walked in May. (We had a cool rain shower once every day too.) From the looks of it you guys had significant heat! Way to hang in there.
Oh yeah - it was so hot - and we're used to the heat!
Had my first pint in the old spot, then called the fox and hounds, was 14 btw.
That is amazing 😂
Ah, it's a shame that you ended up in a quiet pub for the Rugby :(
But I'm LOVING this series!!!! Some of my favourite villages are in the Cotswolds.. but I looked them up, they're not on the route
I know right - just means we will have to return! Thank you so much for watching!!
River Severn or Seven in the US
Loved how you said Severn its said like '7', easy, love your vids pleas try the Highlands, you can do the Dalreada way by hourse it takes 4 days, fantastic, its were the Scottish kings went.
Tiny hint put your empty pint glass back on the bar, pubs do odd service, normaly very little but friendly.
Thank you for the notes! Oh my the Highlands would be a DREAM!
I do love these blogs and this one was really good. Having now watched it I can understand the cover pic, as at first glance I did wonder what on earth you were doing…😂
Oh goodness, HAHA!
A great episode. 😃 I was just wondering what that thing is drops behind Ben ( the talent ) @ 15:53 I thought it was a leaf at first but it looks too big. 😮
Looked like a shadow demon, more common now winter is coming.
you walked past my house just after you left the b&b fro chester hill made me laugh we pronounce it frost er but well done that walk is not an easy one
Ahhh no way! You must see walkers all the time!
@@Off.Day.Adventures indeed i do there are packs of them roaming around all through the warmer months there usually twice your age its not something 30 year olds normally pick as a holiday i think thats why i enjoyed your vids hope you can come back some day there is so much more to see maybe a bit more of a relaxing holiday next time
You seem to be getting your second wind now - despite what some peple say about the Cotswold Way being easy (presumably very fit and seasoned hikers) it looks quite hard work to me with a lot of very hilly sections. Though by comparison to some of our other long distance paths, such as the West Highland Way in Scotland, maybe it is. Have you any plans to do any other long distance paths in the UK in the future?
Thank you! We didn’t train because we heard it was easy, but we really don’t walk much in America, so this was different and a challenge! If we do another one, we will DEFINITELY train! But no plans yet!
@@Off.Day.Adventures I'm loving your video series. I live locally and get 'in training' by taking a daily 20 minute walk up a hill close to me, up the Cotswold Escarpment as a measure of my fitness. It takes around 6 weeks daily walk and the difference from week 1 to week 6 is amazing. Week 1 I am stopping for 3 or 4 breathers. By Week 6 I am practically running up the hill with no stops. I'm 60 and have a desk job, 1 day off the daily walks for an 8 mile or so hike each Sunday. It is my gym and my therapy and stress relief. Keep going, you guys make great content.
I'm puzzled why some sections of this video (and others) have the image reversed so that the writing on your hat is like when you look in a mirror. It seems weird especially at 12:16 when someone's driving on the right hand side of the road but obviously isn't.
We film on our phone, sometimes we use the front facing camera, sometimes we use the back!
You guys are great. Next do the Pennine Way. That separates the men from the boys.
Hahaha sounds scary but maybe ;)
6:53 Did that a few weeks ago with a 16kg pack. Ouch!!!
Oh wow that's impressive!! Hard enough with nothing, ha!
It didn't feel very impressive. Almost blacked out and a horrible swear monster!
So…. Hows things now that the “torture” of the UK is over, what were you surprised by and will you return?
I was shocked how hot it was (especially being from Florida) and we would return in a HEARTBEAT!
Frocester is "Froster". There are few rules to pronunciation that English place names don't break!
That was a tough one, thank you!
What made you choose
This. Walk, and what is your next challege
We heard about it on a TV show - Rick Steves Europe! Not sure what our next challenge is…any suggestions!?
@@Off.Day.Adventures Now you've done the Cotswold Way, maybe try the Cleveland Way. c109 miles across the North Yorkshire Moors then along the North Yorkshire coast taking in numerous historic sites & seaside towns. Just a suggestion as I'm sure there's many more out there 👍
@@Off.Day.Adventures Now that it is cooler you could day hike parts of the Florida Trial. I do not know much about it.
If you come back to the UK you could section hike part of the South West Coast Path; cliff tops, beaches and coastal towns and villages. Going from beach to cliff top then down to the next beach is hard in places but you could choice the section.
Where is Day 7 etc....?
Just posted!
Why is some of your footage writing backwards i.e your hat.
Sweating A hole is what I heard, could of drove a truck through that gap! 😂 Speak quicker
Wotton is a football town, wrong place to watch the rugby.
We'll take what we can get, ha!
