- Hello friends of the internet! As more and more people are moving into NYC again, I thought it would be helpful to make a video to share with those trying to find an apartment in NYC! Hopefully this video provides some tips to make sure you don't get scammed by anyone or get eaten alive by bugs. Also provided full apartment tours of the 11-15 places I visited before I decided.

I’m from NYC and that was a good video I would also add to visit the apartment area at night. Some apartments don’t have laundry in the building, the gate on the fire escape is like a security thing and the weird pattern floors are a standard in a lot of buildings. I would also keep in mind that rent goes up every year so what those rents are now will not be what they are later on.

These are really nice Apartments.
I think the last two apartments was amazing and I think it’s a bit picky to throw the whole apartment away just because one bedroom was a bit small like you want to have it all but I thought it was amazing

Hi Cathy! Do you mind telling me the buildings of apartments 5, 8 and 11?
When it comes to any sort of initial deposits/application fees, what do you pay with? Cash, card, or personal checks? Or do they only take official/travelers checks? This is something I've always wondered. Great video though! I want to move there in the summer and those apartments look so nice but they're wayyyyyy out of my budget 😱
I believe I paid mine with card! Usually 20 dollars is good for a card but larger initial deposits you can do a wire transfer

Love this! Just to clarify- the rent figures are just your share of the rent, right? Unless covid prices were that crazy low haha. Also, is living in hell's kitchen/west midtown popular/nice? I've never liked that area (loud/touristy) but it does seem like there are nice buildings and it has convenient access to a lot of places.
Hi there! Yes to clarify that is just my share of the rent! I have one other roommate. And I think living in the west side in general is better than the east side in my opinion but I may just be biased. I feel like there are a lot of restaurants and good transport so would recommend it! I would say I personally would probably avoid anything between 8th ave and broadway in Midtown because that would just be too touristy and too much.

Do you have a source for not charging for water? My utilities includes a water bill, despite living in Manhattan!
Water isn’t free in nyc. I think landlords can choose to do include it into your utilities or not since it’s usually a relatively small amount. You can search the rates on the nyc.gov
How much do each apartment cost?
Could you please share the addresses of those apartments? Especially the one at 22:50'
There is NO way the one at 22:00 ish ISH is 1500 a month. And what is G and NF? How is it 1500 a month?
would you consider it a red flag if an apartment is available on streeteasy for over a week?

among how many people was the rent price divided? they all seem too cheap for how nice and big the apartments are..

505 west 37th street is the one across the street. Even better views (faces the Hudson River so sunsets look amazing.)
