Thanks for this video! Hard to find info on this underappreciated gem of a game. I've played off and on since 360, but am getting ready to complete my full first playthrough on Switch, and learned some great things from this video.

I remember playing this game when it first came out, I fought everything and basically got my BR too high and can't beat some boss fight. After I looked up a low BR walkthrough, that just didn't look fun at all. I really wish they would've put a cap on the story boss' levels, so I can at least grind my way through the main story.
If you play the 360 version, the BR scaling was so bad. The PC version fixed it so it scales much slower and fighting large groups doesn't spike it like it did on console

You gain stats from fights in general and most side quests involve fights. But the biggest point of the side quests is unlocking Parameter Bonus (basically do sidequests for party members and they give more backstory, unlock all of that character's backstory and they get a stat boost) and fighting the true form of the final boss. Based on how many side quests you complete by the end game, the final boss will have different stats and move sets. However, sidequests can get locked out after certain events so what I would recommend is going to pubs and talking with the bartender. The bartender will tell you if there are sidequests available. There's I think 10 towns in the game and some are optional so explore the different exits in areas and talk to people. For example, if you take the South exit of the desert, you unlock Royotia and if you take the west exit, you unlock Baaluk.
Just about to start on Switch for the first time. Outstanding video! Do you know if BR is fixed on the switch as is remastered. I'll be careful not grinding weak enemies regardless. Thank you.
As far as I know, the switch version is the remastered version so the BR is a lot more flexible than the original release. You can still fight weak enemies as long as your starting morale is in the center or lower than the enemies in a regular encounter.
It depends for me. If I'm grinding for skills and stats, I set everything to manual and mess up the triggers on purpose so I don't kill them too fast and my team can get hit so their HP goes up. However, once I got Mystic Seal formation (it nerfs tf out of your stats but very useful for skill grinding), I set it all to auto since it didn't matter. But in general I set everything to manual

Its a gem but a very rough one. My first play through got basically unplayable because i thought BR is my level so i pushed it as high as possible.

1:50 apparently it's the decision the character make when the leader is dead, more you have this stat, less he don't do anything.

16:20 lol in my run, Caedmon his a mystical unit, and he got the whiteout arcane around BR30 ^^
I'm finding it hard not to grind lower br enemies since I'm trying to get something for David that just so happens to be very rare lol
Yeah the drop rates are wild in this game. What makes it worse is some monsters only spawn for certain BR intervals. If anything, there's always NG+
