  • REVERSE DE LA RIVA BASICS & CONTROL PRINCIPLES - EASY KISS OF THE DRAGON //
In this video I was teaching a class at the Bernardo Faria Academy in Bedford, MA. We were going over the basics and control of reverse de la riva guard.
Reverse de la riva guard is often perceived as difficult or intimidating. People assume you need to be flexible to play it but it has nothing to do with that.
The reverse de la riva is easy if you understand the basics, I also show a basic back take from here.
If you missed any of my last videos check them out here:

Great details. You definitely look like you have a guard nobody wants to be inside of. Awesome video.

You just answered my main problem with this position! I've been too squared while training. Definitely going to try and get more on my side! Also, watching for those Estima/Toe-Holds! That detail on hiding the foot was legit. Going to try this out tomorrow! Thank you!

Hey I just wanted to take a few minutes & leave you a message. I absolutely appreciate all your tutorials & the way you teach. Great explanation every time you teach. I’m a white belt 2 stripes & was getting trapped in everyone guard until I found your Guard Breaking technique video! Sooo good I’m still having trouble but last night I got it right, it wasn’t pretty but I got out lol. I would love to make plans to visit your academy one day. Where are guys located? Thank you 🙏

nice instructional, this has worked for me in variously situations. Is there a way to also avoid the kneebar counter they do from the top? Seems like when I spin they can control my free leg to a leglock or stall me out by controlling it?

You have to be aware and keep your knees tight. It’s all about the knee line to avoid.

You mean how I pull his leg forward?

@@aaronbenzrihembjj6014 yes , with a small resistance from the opponent wasnt able to move it at all

@@TarekChaaban Even if you can’t move their leg, the grip should allow you to move yourself without using flexibility or dexterity. You should be able to move their leg if you straight arm hard enough, but again it’s not necessary, as long as the grip is helping you move underneath them
