Thanks for reviewing this kit, I have the other variant without the ERA bags on the side. I agree with what you say about the tracks, they are the best tracks I've ever put together. My only gripe with the kit is the barrel is fixed in the raised position and I like to pose my tanks doing pew pew pew. Also, lovely work on the model, the decals look great and the weathering is good, the tanks got very mucky. I think the reason kit manufacturers aren't putting campaign markings in the kit is due to the political situation around it, which I kinda get. Kit manufacturers don't want to get their kits banned from markets.
I am building this exact same kit (I have included the mine plow in the elevated position) I also am using the same Star Decal set. I agree that it is a great kit, and the tracks went together with zero issues. You mentioned that you wanted to use a "filter" but the product was too thick. Yes, any of these products (AK Interactive, Mig, Ammo, etc.) have to been thinned. I have experienced great success using AK Interactive White Spirts enamel thinner. I use this product exclusively for this purpose as well as attaching pigments. Highly recommend this product.
Excellent build and thanks for the product recommendations. I doubt (most) kit manufacturers will include SMO specific markings, certainly until the conflict ends, and even then who knows. Similar sensitivities apply as to a famous symbol used by the Germans in WW2. Also certain letters (you know the ones) are actually banned in some European countries (and certain internet platforms also don't like them) and to display them will have the legal authorities paying a visit. I think the decals you used are from a country deemed friendly to Russia. The T-80 seems a favourite with tankers due to it having a sensible reverse speed unlike the T-72 and T-90 variants which I believe are limited to something like 3 mph.
Dude, that model looks absolutely outstanding! I actually prefer that they didn’t add any decals for the reason that you did an outstanding job doing the custom hand painting, it looks a lot more realistic because real soldiers handpainted them on very crudely and at Will. Looks great! Maybe do a BMP7-B or other ERA model but with a Soviet flag above it on a whip cable. I’ve seen multiple Soviet flags on tanks in modern conflict Ukraine. 😂 Just subbed! Keep it up!

I'd like to build one but I will NOT be using the letter Zee symbology for Putin's war crimes.
