Hey...how did a hellcat ended up in your box 😂😂🐈
that looks like an incredibly well engineered kit, I normally build in 1/72 but I am beginning to dabble in 1/48 scale stuff now, so its nice to see whats out there, and it seems I'm not the only one with a cat that likes to help out!
I have a question how did you make asphalt. The Tank looks great
@@Tim26-j4h thanks. It’s actually pretty simple. Its just natural ground from outside that has been sifted then the base was spayed with 50/50 mix of water and craft glue then the ground was added and soaked over and over until I got it to look how I wanted. It’s important to saturate the ground to make it strong.
Most excellent!🤔 Jman
Thank you for reviewing this, another one I've been thinking about, although it looks too complicated for me now. I find their new kits to be of excellent fit, but sometimes over-engineered. Incidentally, this kit seems readily available new, even in Canada, but pricier than you paid. All Zvezda kits have increased in price in the last year or so, perhaps understandably. Happily here in the UK many shops seem to have received new supplies recently. I agree with you about their pilots - they have a lot of thought put into them. The 1/72 versions are just as good. In their 1/72 Hurricane IIC (Snap-Fit,) there are 2 multi-part pilots, one in RAF clothes, one in warmer Soviet clothing! with amazing detail. The stands are a mystery. All Zvezda 1/144 airliner kits include a stand (but airliners look so cool in flight), yet their military ones generally do not. I think the version you noted as 'generic' is actually one of Erich Hartmann's, who needs no introduction.
Trying to find SSModels is like looking for a needle in a haystack?
its very hard. e bay is about the best place you can buy them. i have not seen a complete list of their products anywhere.
I believe this kit is a reissue from early 2000's. The 1975 copyright is the claim year for the original design.
I'm 65, and was lucky enough to build one of these at age 10. It came in a set called "Space Pursuit," and was marked as a "Space Police" ship, along with the Convair Space Shuttle (also reissued by Atlantis) which was in "Space Pirate" livery. As you can imagine, I was VERY happy to get another chance to build one of these! Coincidentally, I found out about the reissue in 2021 a few days before was scheduled for major surgery. I like to joke that the news of this surprising reissue is what 'encouraged' me to get through my hospital stay! I actually bought several of these . . . . The new Atlantis issue includes markings for the Moon Ship (both for the US and UK issues) and the XSL-01 manned portion. I was kind of hoping for the "Space Police" livery, too. 13th Like.
People are always surprised to see Zeppelin models. I've been looking for the earlier air ships. Good find!
This kit was originally complete with booster rockets like the space shuttle kind of idea. It was originally called the XSL-01 Manned Space Ship released in 1958 by Revell. I know this because I'm (coincidentally!) building one for a client.
You are very fortunate to have that opportunity! Have a good build!
The "Desert Rats" were not Royal Air Force, they were/are British Army.
Ancient kit. Esci kits have been around since the late 1970s-early 1980s.
I built this as kit when it was released by ESCI (kit 4038) in 1979 as a Canadair CL-13 mk. IV Sabre.. Basic but it fit well and looked great on the shelf.
Yep, it's the 1979 Esci kit and it appears to be exactly what we should expect. There is a 1983 Esci boxing still about on ebay, with 2 colourful Italian markings. The 'officially licensed by' things common nowadays are just a scam by the big boys to grab a share of the money.
@@neilhughes9310 I would probably go with that esci release and get a decal sheet. If the price was reasonable.
I miss building these models. Just don't have time or space for it anymore :(
Hello are the tracks movable like I can move it and get a track cut for a short video
New 1 from RM is better with working tracks
Signature is just below the tailhook.
@@davidryall-flanders6353 ahh I see it now! Thanks!
I've built this kit and it's nice and done as river rattlers
If you have a portuguese scheme, with portuguese markings and flag, why do you think stencils are in spanish!?!? 🙄
Because Spanish is a more popular language.
@@PileOfKits English is more popular than spanish. Should spanish air force planes have stencils in english???
@@PMOAviationChannel I don’t know maybe they do. I have never been close up to a Spanish aircraft. I’m not a military expert or expert on foreign countries. I’m my country the markings on our aircraft are in both English and French.
Too much minutae.
Well that's a blast from the past - I only ever saw Esci kits when we went on holiday to Spain I don't think there was a UK importer (Pre-internet so you would only find out about kits in magazines) - They always built up well and the tool making was incredible - this was all manually tooled up without CAD. Their art department really sold the kits.
amazing job, thanks for sharing!!
thanks for giving a shout out for Copper's Hobbies. I didn't know they existed. Visited today and bought a new kit for the new year.
its a really great store. the owners are fantastic people! if you cant find what you are looking for they will try their best to help you out.
🔥
cute figure and very cute cat ^^
It's Heller. It's 1979. Buyers should know what to expect. A basic but, for shape and dimension, a very accurate kit. A&A brought a new one out a few years ago, detailed but a little over-engineered with a zillion decals. You pays your money, you takes your choice. I built the Heller a long time ago and just loved how it looks and sits. Some issues of this kit come in a lovely shiny green plastic. Someone produced a brass fret with the panel shapes for re-scribing them, but it is possibly hard to find now. Syhart made decals for the Mirage IV, mostly end-of-service schemes. Worth checking out.
@@neilhughes9310 a scribing stencil would be amazing for this kit! I’ll have to look now !
Strange the pilot dome?
@@kevinchapman2730 ?
I believe this is a rebox of the 1992 mould, which wasn't bad at all back then and was very affordable. I built the Luftwaffe ECR version of it and had no problems. For 'very basic' try the Airfix 1/48 kit, which was released with some excellent markings choices over the years, but before they started using Cartograf, so had the usual quality issues of their decals. If you intend to use the JP-233s maybe check as only some of the RAF Tornados carried them (if you're a stickler for that level of authenticity). They stopped using them as having to fly level along a defended runway carrying such weight was quickly found to be rather dangerous. The RAF Desert Pink was a temporary finish, which was why the aircraft looked so scruffy so quickly. Touch-ups were often applied in a different colour, probably whatever could be scrounged. In some photos you can see the original grey/green camo coming through. Some of the RAF Gulf War nose art was a bit rude, but seems eternally loved by modellers (including me). Many thanks for giving this kit such a positive review.
considering the other options out there this kit does hold up. plus for how cheap it is you can upgrade it without breaking the bank. i tried to build the airfix kit years ago but it was so bad i tossed it.
Mine showed up today
The molding reminds me of the old Matchbox armor kits.
I think one value of a 'plastic' reproduction of something like an original black powder flintlock British Light Dragoon (Cavalry) Pistol is that it could provide the necessary wood/metal structure and composition measurements for a actual working copy!
Lucky for you...your mom has a big basement.
@@martindavis9930 oh yeah it’s like warehouse 13! My dad worked the night shift and busted his ass for 40 years so he could buy my mom her own house. 🫶
So it’s plastic not wood???? I’m glad I found this before buying I’ll save for the real thing for my channel
@@jadenknight9876 it’s 100% plastic
I built the Pyro kit in the Day
If the kit was a new tool in '82 then I believe it was that kit I got for Christmas of that year. Built, painted and displayed by that evening. No time for gap filling and sanding sticks back in those heady days of my youth.😂 Also, why does the box art show the chopper being flown by Starsky and Hutch?
The conflict began in 2014, and from 2022 it is the so-called "Hot Stage" or a full-scale invasion.
there has been constant fighting and bombardments of the Donbas / eastern Ukraine by government forces since 2014 and since 2022 its been a limited special military operation into Ukraine by Russian forces against a Nato backed Ukrainian force.
Wrong bridge, but still nice.
Nice review, for me, it is hit or miss with Trumpeter kits. I have build some that do not have as many parts as this T-72B and those were a nice build. For me this kit appears to have too many tiny parts, I built the Meng T-72 with a different ERA, I found it to be ok, The tracks were individual with separate guide horns, I am finding that the speed of length and link are more to my liking.
Would like to have seen it completed and painted.
I've been sitting on mine for a while, but I've been tackling it lately along side the trumpeter LAV III and AVPG cougar "early version". Their in the painting phase now.
How did you mount your tracks?
@pikolsmaster Haven't gotten there yet. Usually I throw the tracks on right before I mount the idler and drive sprocket.
What's in your current model queue to build?
1/72 space 1999 Hawk, 1:48 Monogram A-10, 1:48 trumpeter J-10,1/72 TU-160, 1/35Meng ZTQ-15,1/35 Meng T-90/Dozer, 1/25 1966 mustang, 2 Gundams and about 10 resin figures. i hope to get most done before or around christmas.
@@PileOfKits Cool!
If like a original colonial mount, the mount plate should be brass. That may be why the textture is bubbled. Sand casting in colonial times was primitive. If you do go thru with this build. I may suggest Tamiya paints as I find their metal pigment is very realistic.
Good God , that is junk 🤮🤮👎👎
I had the F-100, probably the Lindbergh version, somewhere around ‘78, I think. That picture on the box looks like an F-100C by the wing.
The Winchester is a really good looking modle when done.operates like the real one
In the 70s I built the winchester,the peace maker,the Turkish flintlock,the s&w modle 29,the colt python,ND the German p38.all working replicas.
Continental Army ☆ It's actually called Breeds Hill 🗡 and even after dropping over 400 Bloody Red Coats 💀 WE LOST THAT ONE 💣
I had this kit they were $5.00. Had about six different kits a klintlock a winchester a matchlock
