    • @batfurs3001
      @batfurs3001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They are raptors like the others, they're accipiters aka related to hawks and eagles. Some groups disagree and think it should be its own order, but most taxonomic groups say new world vultures are at most a suborder of accipiters
      Whether terror birds are birds of prey depends on who you ask. They're most closely related to seriemas, which a lot of people exclude from the list of raptors (most people say it's accipitriformes, strigiformes, and falconiformes)

    • @DB-yx5el
      @DB-yx5el 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To be honest, almost all birds are "birds of prey" since most birds eat other animals. Only a few birds are strict herbivores. But most people consider accipitriformes (hawks, old world vultures), falconiformes (falcons, caracaras), carthartiformes (new world vultures), strigiformes (owls) and cariamiformes (seriemas)

    Love watching vultures flying and feeding. These days its rare in urban areas. Even in dumping grounds. I miss them.
    These birds are the most vulnerable to poisoning of the planet. They cant tolerate toxins like pesticides.

    In Jamaica we call these "pastor John crow"
    "John crow" being the name we give to turkey vultures
    I guess we were onto something 🙆🏾‍♂️🙆🏾‍♂️🙆🏾‍♂️

    Normal vultures look intimidating, but these ones look like a melted parrot, and I say this as someone who loves birds
