Don't forget Nels Cline, doing the Yeowman's work. Maybe the greatest guitar player alive, just hanging out in the background, and making it all work for everyone
@@MrKelleyzinho I was a bit harsh, I'm sorry. While I get your point, it was a big stretch. Few people equate art rock god David Byrne with groovy, ramshackle Americana!😂
@@angellacanfora Would you consider it a big stretch that Byrne has done a lot of Bossa Nova and Samba songs, too? Kind of laid back. And I think he has, in fact, done some dusty roads Americana and/or promoted artists like Lucinda Williams. Point is that the guy is multi-faceted as a musician, not defined by "Once in a Lifetime."
I've been following him most of his life. Not surprised he knows about it and appreciates it, but not typical to see him playing in this particular lane. Trés cool!
Two frickin pop music geniuses (or something like that) on stage together. Nice to hear David Byrne's voice singing a Wilco song! His voice always makes me feel good. Tweedy's too.
Agreed Steve. Byrne is more chill than I ever seen em. And singing Jeff's melodies! Not a tune I ever liked much till now. Tho I love and play alot of mermaid Ave Guthrie.
It's not Grateful Dead-ish because its boring as hell. Wilco is boring as hell and Byrne without the talking heads is boring. Both guys can barely play the guitar so that's why we are seeing "laid back folk rock." Neither can handle anything more, though Tweedy arguably did earlier in his career. Lately its all goofy junk like this.
Fist off Jeff B. Or whoever you are… this song is 10 years old written by Tweedy and Billy Bragg. You’d do well to check the latter out sometime. Next Nels Cline is perhaps the most creative American guitar player of the century so far so-- You seem to want to pigeonhole things but that’s the beauty of accomplished artistry, it doesn’t fit into an easily defined category. But you do you. It’s cool to criticize… when you know something about what you’re criticizing. Keep spreading that joy that abounds in your comment. Peace
@@daddyboy3546 I was certainly a little too caustic in my comments though I stand by them, but you are more than a little patronizing. Of course I'm aware of Billy Bragg and Tweedy's treatment of Woody Guthrie songs (more like 20-25 year ago) and I'm not sure what your point is here. Again, boring as hell and I can't imagine why Billy Bragg took part. Second, I suspect I've seen Billy Bragg live more times than he has crossed your mind. He's fantastic and interesting and has been for decades. Jeff Tweedy is boring as hell and David Byrne has been nothing but boring in recent years. This is slop.
@@daddyboy3546 It was written by Woody Guthrie, actually; arranged by Tweedy and Jay Bennett. So it's considerably older than 10 years. The Bragg/Wilco version is 25 years old... the song is about 70 years old.
@@jeffb4416 You've seen Billy ;ots of times, yet you don't understand why he took part on Mermaid Avenue???? Really??? I don't understand why, if you don't like Tweedy and Byrne, why you're here listening to it? Troll.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written ❤😅 thank you Jeff and Billy Bragg
Two of my biggest heroes on stage together ...
OK danke
I’ve never seen Jeff smile so big and so long. A couple of giants
Jeff’s smile is contagious through the screen! Love this combo of legends.

@Ron - Can never forget Nels!
Jeff who?
Mind-blowing to see David Byrne playing laid-back, folk rock!
Not really. All of Byrne’s songs aren’t jittery. He does airy, spacious ballads, too. Plus all of his African groove stuff.

I'm so happy you had the opportunity. Take care & crank the tunes! =)

I’m crying at this… ❤️
Subbed because you put this up here. I listen to Wilco quite often. Thanks!
Oh my GOD!
Exactly!
How cool to have Byrne sing your Guthrie co-write. Can see why Jeff was beaming.
Love this!!!

It's actually a Woodie Guthrie song.
@@voncorcommunications3190 Well, the lyrics. Billy Bragg gets credit too, I think.
Wilco and Billy Bragg covered the song together on Mermaid Avenue (along with Natalie Merchant). But the song was written by Woodie.
@@ejvongher Guthrie wrote the music? (I don’t think he wrote ANY of the Mermaid Ave music.)

Most beautiful song ever written 😮😂❤
Thanks. Very cool. I appreciate. :)
Great stuff. Amazing collaboration. Thank you.
The vibe is downright Grateful Dead-ish. You don't see musicians having this much fun on stage very often.

When is this fantastic band coming to Europe ????????
David Byrne as Neil Young, that makes sense.
Who is the blue guy on the right?
liamkazar.bandcamp.com/album/due-north
he played on some of the Tweedy stuff, and is the brother of the gal in yellow from the chitown band OHMME
But he made Tina audition for the band again, when they got signed to the big label.
Only missing Billy B.
