Fist off Jeff B. Or whoever you are… this song is 10 years old written by Tweedy and Billy Bragg. You’d do well to check the latter out sometime. Next Nels Cline is perhaps the most creative American guitar player of the century so far so-- You seem to want to pigeonhole things but that’s the beauty of accomplished artistry, it doesn’t fit into an easily defined category. But you do you. It’s cool to criticize… when you know something about what you’re criticizing. Keep spreading that joy that abounds in your comment. Peace

@@daddyboy3546 I was certainly a little too caustic in my comments though I stand by them, but you are more than a little patronizing. Of course I'm aware of Billy Bragg and Tweedy's treatment of Woody Guthrie songs (more like 20-25 year ago) and I'm not sure what your point is here. Again, boring as hell and I can't imagine why Billy Bragg took part. Second, I suspect I've seen Billy Bragg live more times than he has crossed your mind. He's fantastic and interesting and has been for decades. Jeff Tweedy is boring as hell and David Byrne has been nothing but boring in recent years. This is slop.

@@daddyboy3546 It was written by Woody Guthrie, actually; arranged by Tweedy and Jay Bennett. So it's considerably older than 10 years. The Bragg/Wilco version is 25 years old... the song is about 70 years old.

Agreed Steve. Byrne is more chill than I ever seen em. And singing Jeff's melodies! Not a tune I ever liked much till now. Tho I love and play alot of mermaid Ave Guthrie.

Not really. All of Byrne’s songs aren’t jittery. He does airy, spacious ballads, too. Plus all of his African groove stuff.

And I think he has, in fact, done some dusty roads Americana and/or promoted artists like Lucinda Williams. Point is that the guy is multi-faceted as a musician, not defined by "Once in a Lifetime."

I've been following him most of his life. Not surprised he knows about it and appreciates it, but not typical to see him playing in this particular lane. Trés cool!
