0:01- Cissy Strut (The Meters), 0:50- Wilco the song, 1:39- Either Way, 1:55- You Are My Face, 2:40- What Light, 3:32- You Never Know, 4:07- Handshake Drugs, 4:56- Side With the Seeds, 5:40- Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down (traditional), 6:01- Monday, 6:20- What's the World Got In Store, 7:21- You and I, 7:32- The Thanks I Get.
This is a classic example of the depth and universality in America's new musical paradigm. Literally hundreds of bands are out there poised for the right moment to come into the auditorium after such a lengthy time of beating down the doors with their instruments while the public eyes and ears have been filled with the music industry's hype groups and trend followers. The Wilco's and Black Keys of our nation are demanding their time has arrived. Clearly it has, so take notice.
i love wilco so much; they're probably my favourite band, and it's pretty much one of my life's goals to catch a show of theirs (haven't had any luck haha). whether or not wilco become even bigger than they already are makes no difference to me, as long as they continue to make the amazing music they make . . . wilco are always going to be something special!
I gaved Wilco a ride yesterday here in Denver before his concert and god they are great guys! Forgot to get pictures with him or even his autograph. (I’m a lyft driver)
Lets get something straight, Wilco/Jeff Tweedy got their start literally 2 miles from my fucking house in Belleville, Illinois, not fucking Chicago........
When I was ~18yo, coming from a background in (post-)punk / garage rock, I was broadening my musical horizons and became interested in funk. Someone gave me a tape with Meters songs: "here, learn this! It's the funk 101. It's good for you." So great to see Tweedy educating his son with these deceptively simple, yet so powerful, songs. Every musician should study The Meters, and learn the art of stripping music to its core.
@dodie2casey Do you know what? I agree about the Mermaid Avenue recordings! Billy Bragg was the perfect coupling for that. As far as Son Volt's second configuration, I'm going to check that out. :)
@dodie2casey I wouldn't say UT was much better or even better. But if you really like that sound you can listen to Son Volt. Jay is still playing the same lick.
they only have one album that has great pop songs.. and those are the songs they play at the end of their gig.. the rest of their music - they try to be experimental, with noise and weird dynamics.. dont get me wrong i like Wilco... but they dont try to write hits.. only people who appreciate music for its purest sake like WILCO.. Get Being There. thats their best album. Geez he looks like a kid here..
I'm gonna make a bold statement here and say that jeff tweedy/ wilco is way better than bob dylan and neil young put together. wilco = under rated ... neil young/ bob dylan = over rated. ESPECIALLY bob dylan.

You are a hero
@Salvador Madden yup, I've been using InstaFlixxer for months myself :D
Can't believe they didn't choose a single song from Yankee Hotel Foxtrot!
@@jackweiss5480 Doesn't matter. These are great as well.
You're right, CBS. You finally get respect when you land in a car commercial. Bravo Wilco!
Wow.
My favorite band of all time.
Boo Radley same man

got to see Uncle Tupelo 3 times and Wilco about 6 times (when Jay Bennett was still in the band), I'm so happy they got successful

well it’s 12
years later. have you caught a show?
I gaved Wilco a ride yesterday here in Denver before his concert and god they are great guys! Forgot to get pictures with him or even his autograph. (I’m a lyft driver)
Did you mean to say you gave Jeff Tweedy a ride
Look at 6:50 - Spencer is holding a vinyl copy of Marquee Moon by Television! Great taste for great albums.
Wilco are superstars in my mind, have been for a wile
What an amazing band.
He is as well spoken and witty as his lyrics, love it!
0:20 Tweedy in the making
Been a fan since AM. Love that he has a band with his boys.
My favorite band!
@fenhen
It's an old folk song, and the video is from Jeff's solo DVD, "Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest." It's totally worth buying.
OMG was he gorgeous! So talented too.
Summerteeth is one of the twenty best records ever.
I’m glad I found Wilco shortly after the Sky, Blue, Sky album. I’ve been a fan for years.
Intelligent, nice guy living the life. Good for him man.
Lets get something straight, Wilco/Jeff Tweedy got their start literally 2 miles from my fucking house in Belleville, Illinois, not fucking Chicago........
Exactly. He's a cardinal, not a cub. (even if he pitched for them)
By the time Wilco formed he was living in Chicago. Yes when he formed Uncle Tupelo it was Belleville
No one cares about your rat town
(also, i couldn't help but notice the marquee moon vinyl spencer was toting, haha. awesome)

band, ever!!!

yeah, to have their level of of fame at present day, I think would be perfectly satisfactory, personally.
@polykuromu they're amazing live. probably in the top 3 shows i've ever seen. lucky enough to have seen them twice. you won't be disappointed :)
❤️
Ha, his son is carrying around "Marquee Moon." Raising the kids right.
Tweedy played at a bar I tended in Minneapolis back in the '80's. I think. Huh? Yeah, that was him and them.
Anyone know what the song is at 5:50? And what CD it's on?
"Satan your kingdom must come down" Uncle Tupelo recorded it on March 16-22 1992 album.
that kids fucking good at drums haha
@samashby08 yeah, as long as i have my ipod.
@dodie2casey I wouldn't say UT was much better or even better. But if you really like that sound you can listen to Son Volt. Jay is still playing the same lick.
whats the song on 1:56 ??
"Either way"
Wow...Spencer is good. Not surprising, though, since Glenn Kotche is his drum teacher.
@KrisWRose123 Well Depending on your age and location we can maybe hang out with them/ Jeff himself
this piece is a disgrace to Jeff Tweedy. Interviewer does not get it
Shhhhh! Don't tell everybody...
Spencer owns his dad Meters-groove-wise!

You forgot how you fight lonliness
the percentage is higher now
trish takanawa reporting, I presume?
what makes this video have a 30 sec add? Is it special or something lol
are they jammin' on "elephants" riff, from "them crooked vultures"??? that's funny!
I do this with my kids
" playing kiss covers"
jay farrar downvoted this seven times
@CheckVerb AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, YEAH...
jeff is the fucking man
We don't have a hit ... cut to Handshake Drugs ... a song that today makes most people sh-t themselves. Oh Jeff ... the modesty.
I think they actually live in Chicago, and not "Suburban Chicago".
I live there block
Im friends with them
now more folk for tweedy, just pop now. =(
I d like be a random name generator
The only thing they need is good advertising and they will be a hit
7:03 smokin hot babe...marry me
I'm gonna make a bold statement here and say that jeff tweedy/ wilco is way better than bob dylan and neil young put together. wilco = under rated ... neil young/ bob dylan = over rated. ESPECIALLY bob dylan.
