I'll never understand how people pay ridiculous amounts of money for these types of systems, that will surely be outdated inside 3 - 4 years, but worse yet, could have bought original hardware for less, and it would actually increase in value over time, unlike............. this thing.
The pricing for this thing, isn't just idiotic. It's grotesque.

Polymega is a badass machine, i feel like people tried to bag on it. But after seeing what Analogue is doing i feel its realized this system has a great interface.

I know that MLP is just putting this out there butt... It's difficult to imagine what the person who would do this would be like. You bought a Polymega because you wanted to use your original cartridges and Disks but then you said screw it and started buying these things.

If you're using ROMs, it's way easier and cheaper to just buy a mini PC.

It's nice to have the option of being able to do both and it answers the question of whether or not it can😂

Sure but there might be a few physical releases you just can’t buy so you use this alongside your physical collection.

    • @Leo_DS
      @Leo_DS 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@BenIsaacs-p4v Yeah. But why. At that point, it's kinda just a toy. Just load all the ROMs you want to have from a complete set and be done with it. But whatever. To each their own. Polymega is a cumbersome and expensive way of doing less and worse emulation. But if that's what people want, they definitely have the right to pay up front and wait 2 years to get their console.

Also, speaking of loading one game at a time and the wait time for each, as someone who owned the old Genesis (Super Magic Drive), SNES (Super Magicom/Pro Fighter X/Super Wild Card DX), N64 (Doctor V64), and many GB/GBA/DS copiers, I can appreciate how cool this is. Kids today, with their Blueberry Pies and their Mr Misters, just can't comprehend what it was like back in our day! 😁

As a Polymega owner I was considering doing this. But buying all the parts needed is CRAZY expensive. Seems the Polymega has become the expensive investment that just keeps getting more expensive. Yeeesh!!!

I am interested in the Polymega but with the price I really can't justify the purchase. Another thing that I can't justify with the purchase is the console coming with the Pentium Celeron processors. Watching your video before you changed the processor was a bad experience that isn't justifiable.

@@Shawnsteroz I can understand that. I live in the USA and it cost $549.00 for base model and the Deluxe model cost 799.00 in US currency and not to mention taxes and shipping. You can build a gaming PC that you can emulate with for a lot cheaper with better specs then the Polymega.

Hey, love the channel. Appreciate the content. I think I've watched this video 5 or 6 times now. I have the polymega with all the modules and the retro blaster 2 kit as well as the retro blaster mini kit. With mine, I absolutely cannot get the polymega to recognize the 64 blaster cart. I was thinking it might be a firmware revision issue. I even paused the video repeatedly trying to look at the revision of the 64 blaster cart and it appears we have the exact same one. Just could not get it to work. Works all day long on the actual n64 but nothing on the polymega. The cart only ever shows up as "Game Media" and then when you try to play it, it goes to a black screen. Very sad result on my end, but glad to see you got it running.

Nice that it works, but it seems like you'd get burned out on doing this by about game ten. Also, do Everdrive carts work if you set them up to show as the last game loaded into the carts onboard ROM? I used to get Game Genie and AVS cheats working on the N8 by setting it to work as a standalone NES cart based on the last game played. This might also be an option here.

I install all the TG16 and PCEngine Hucards. One at time with a card that has the connector already on it for usb to your pc via a USB B. Working on Disc Roms Now. I've bought few titles but honestly the prices for NEC games really are up there.

Wait until they make you pay for those ROMs if and when the online shop ever opens.
Honestly, I'd rather they curate indie titles like Sydney Hunter to sell on the shop and other modern games with a retro aesthetic like Mega Man 10/11 etc.

  • @Turbotobi79

Well, I don't really get it. You buy an Emulation machine to play your original carts and then you buy this to play Roms. I would say rather buying either an Analogue device for a full blown Emulation machine does everything better. I have both to have the best experience on my original games with an FPGA Device and a much more powerful mini PC for all the emulation stuff. I think this one covers an extreme niche between both.

I really don’t get why these clone systems are popular. At this point you might as well just emulate on a pc. Stick all your Roms on an external HD and you basically have a physical copy of all your games. I’ve started going full emulation for all systems before ps3/360.

This looks like a pain. For Polymega to gain any traction in the market someone will have to jailbreak it to work with everdrive carts. Not a big enough market for pure media collectors. I have a huge cart library for most systems and would still rather use an Everdrive most of the time.
