The guy that played Frank Drebin, Leslie Neilson, played serious "tough guy" roles when he was younger, but turns out he had great comic timing and delivery and could play the funniest tough guy ever. His later career as an actor was one comedy after another. RIP.
If possible, and if you haven't already seen it, look for the _Cannon_ episode from the first or second season with Leslie Neilson in it. He plays a villain, and even then there were sparks of his humor, though the role was a serious one. You'll enjoy it!
Fun fact: After Leslie Neilson passed away, ESPN honorably but jokingly referred Leslie as Enrico Palazzo as a nod to the baseball he was in “disguise”from the movie.
Hella does seem to get more of the sexual innuendo and symbolism in the films. That is something I have noticed. Neither of them seemed to get the ridiculous proportions of the statues (or the shear number of them) on the outside of the building when he's out on the ledge. But maybe they were just being demur.
A little clarification: at the beginning of the movie, there was a meeting of the most notorious dictators of the 1970s and 1980s to the detriment of America. 2:03 Idi Amin, dictator of Uganda 2:09 Muammar Gaddafi, dictator of Libya 2:13 Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union. Yes, he actually had a birthmark like that on his forehead 2:17 Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini of Iran.
This is perfect slapstick comedy and Nielsen's deadpan seriousness makes it all the more hilarious alongside him being a walking disaster. The opening really set the tone with the sentient police car and that one mook dropping his gun. Pure comedy gold.
Leslie Nielsen was a great actor and will be sorely missed. Little known fact Mr. Nielsen used to carry around a fart sound deceive with him and we would use it very often. He was so into it that on his headstone his epitaph reads simply "Let 'er rip". Thank you Mr. Nielsen for the laughs over the years. Also, this is one of my favorite movie franchises. The subsequent films are as good as the previous. I hope you enjoy this franchise as much as I do.
The woman was Percilla Presley. She was married to Elvis Presley. Norberg was O.J. Simpson. He was a big football hero in the 70s. He murdered his ex wife and her friend with a knife. He got off in criminal court with a dream team of expensive lawyers and jury nullification. But was found guilty in civil court and forced to pay millions of dollars to the family of the woman. Very few people were upset when he died of cancer the other day. I am surprised you didn't recognize Frank as the doctor from Airplane! This was made by the same people who that movie. The bit where the bad guy found a ring and a finger in his food was a callback to the guy who fell into the vat at the meat plant. He was just made into hot dogs.
I never saw this film , but I did see other ones in the ' Naked Gun ' series , and I gotta tell ya , Leslie Nielsen and George Kennedy were both so funny as those two bungling policemen that I almost wet my britches from laughing so hard , watching them in this series . And watching youse two was twice as hilarious !!!😂
I saw this movie for the first time in the theater when I was nine years old. I've probably seen it a dozen times since. I'm still laughing every time.
As funny as this movie is, it’s more funny watching you two react to it. Your sense of humor is amazing, and I always laugh whenever you laugh. Your laugh is very infectious.
I love your reactions. Thank you. And thank you for always making a wonderful effort to dress up for the occasion. You look like two Disney Princesses tonight and I appreciate it. You make me smile.
Yes, movie munchies now has a sponsor. You’re so lovely Hela inside and out. You and Chi deserve all the success and happiness that life has to offer ❤❤❤❤
You ladies are my favorite reactors! I always look forward to your reactions. I really love your beautiful laughs, your voices and accents… You both are so Charming and sweet!
I remember seeing this on my 14th birthday. Brings back so many lost memories. It was the last movie my mother and I watched at the theater together before I went through the teenage years when parents weren't cool. God rest her soul.
Hey Hella, you were really good at being the spokesperson for your sponsor's presentation. I think you should be doing TV commercials now. 😀 Congratulations to you both, Chi and Hella! Best wishes! 💖
O.J. Simpson was in this movie. A professional American football player turned actor, he died this week. Many believe, because he could hire the best lawyers, he got away with the brutal murder of his ex-wife and one of her friends. His trial was televised and many people tuned in to watch.
I believe that serial killer Glenn Rogers did it. He called both his brother and sister hours before and told them that he was at the party in OJs home and that he was going to take Nicole down. Rogers killed about 70 women.
@clownzzz4837: Tsi and Hella weren't born when those murders happened in 1994 . And before I knew what a miserable guy O.J. Simpson was , I could watch him on the screen without getting sick . I'll just say this : That murderer is lucky that it wasn't Vincent Bugliosi who prosecuted that case - even with THAT jury .
When Leslie Nielsen passed away, I had a feeling we weren’t going to get any more _Naked Gun_ movies or a new _Police Squad_ series, but now I’m pretty sure of that.
I enjoy watching these videos by Movie Munchies, I have a recommendation for a movie though, it's called ''Tucker & Dale vs Evil'' it's a comedy/horror so a nice change of genre.
Fun reaction, ladies! Well, since you asked how long it had been since Frank had even touched his fridge, I have the answer for you. It’s actually more than 3 years, and here’s why: Some of the characters in this movie started out in the comedy TV series _Police Squad!_ which began and ended in 1982 (lasting only 6 episodes). _The Naked Gun_ was released in 1988. So, between that time, Frank hadn’t been back to his fictional apartment at all. 😄
Ludwig's line about spending two years as a building contractor. Refers to the level of corruption that was common in the construction business in major cities in the 1980s. Basically he's telling her he's a criminal and thus very dangerous.
Correction: The sequel is actually Naked Gun 2 1/2 and my memory doesn't serve me the best way right this moment (and I didn't bother to check 🤣) but I think the second sequel is Naked Gun 33 1/3 - The Final Insult. Or something like that 😉😂
I think I got them right except I didn't include the added name of the first sequel so the whole name of the movie is Naked Gun 2 1/2 - The Smell Of Fear. I'm still pretty proud of myself to remember all that right when it has been so long since I have seen those movies 😅
I can tell already this is gonna be good before even watching it. My two favorite reactors watching a timeless comedy movie. Time to get the popcorn ready! ☺
Darn, I didn't even know before reading this comment. What a coincidence and what a funny comment 🤣 Eventhough Nordberg didn't actually die in this movie because he was in two sequels but this was still a kill shot 😂
I'm not sure if Reggie Jackson, playing himself as the assassin, was still playing when this was shot, or if he had just retired. His last year with the Angels was 1986. He was still one of the most famous American athletes at the time, so it's supposed to be a big reveal when he lifts his head and you see his face. Also, being a Mariners fan, it's always funny to see them depicted here.
In baseball if the ball is pitched in the plate zone it’s a strike but if the ball is outside the plate zone it’s called a ball. Also this movie is based off the the 6 episode tv show Called Police Squad made in 1982
Leslie Nielson was a GOAT, he started as a serious actor, but slowly realized that He was the perfekt straight man for funny movies, life got him lemons and He Made lemonade Out of IT
Ladies, ladies, this is it. You may have found the funniest movie ever made. I could hear arguments for a few other contenders, but it's a short list. Enrico Palazzo!
Favorite scenes off the top of my head (today) janitor catching Frank changing pants. Catching office on fire & ledge walk escape. "Assault with a concrete _____?!"
30:14 - In baseball, the pitcher has the throw the bal over the plate to get a 'strike.' Three strikes and the batter is out. However, if they throw it too far outside, it's a 'ball'. Four balls and the batter gets to walk to first base.
Post commentary. "i liked the football field scene". cute. but they did catch on to some of the jokes, i was impressed a couple times. Great reaction once again, as always!!!
The "bench-clearing brawl" is also a baseball tradition. In real life, they don't really do much fighting, just get in each other's faces to support their teammates. But it looks cool.
You guys should PLEASE do "We were Soldiers" next! I loved your input on Full Metal jacket. And for that matter Apocalypse now too!!!! wooooo. best reaction channel ever. Go Chi!
So glad that you two reacted to this movie! I suggested this one after you reacted to "Airplane". I love these old comedies! Now, if you can do a reaction to "Tombstone" that would be great!
When younger, Leslie Nielsen portrayed the real life Colonel Francis Marion in The Swamp Fox TV film series by Disney, also portrayed by Mel Gibson in The Patriot.

The guy that played Frank Drebin, Leslie Neilson, played serious "tough guy" roles when he was younger, but turns out he had great comic timing and delivery and could play the funniest tough guy ever. His later career as an actor was one comedy after another. RIP.
In Airplane he thought it would be funny to act serious the whole time, as if everything happening was normal.
@@taoist32 And he was correct, lol!
Loved him in _Due South,_ always with that fart-machine that he constantly used in real life also, during interviews etc. A truly funny guy. RIP.

An early role for him was in the 1950's Science Fiction classic Forbidden Planet, based upon the Shakespeare play The Tempest.
As someone who grew up watching this movie, seeing Hella Vu laugh so hard at the line "Hey, it's Enrico Palazzo!" made my day! Hahaha!
That reminds me, they should watch _Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure._
Francis!
Fun fact: After Leslie Neilson passed away, ESPN honorably but jokingly referred Leslie as Enrico Palazzo as a nod to the baseball he was in “disguise”from the movie.
