Those of us old enough to remember fax machines get it. ;-)
17:37 "And why should the people listen to _you?"_ "Because, unlike some _other_ Robin Hoods, _I_ can speak with an English accent." That was a dig at Kevin Costner. This movie came to theaters in '93. It lampoons the legend of Robin Hood in _general,_ but _specifically,_ it lampoons the movie _Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,_ which came to theaters two years before. In that movie, Kevin Costner played the title character and he's the first actor who, try though he did, could _not_ adopt an English accent, so they told him not to try.
_Prince of Thieves_ was also the first (only?) Robin Hood movie to have a black, Muslim character (played by Morgan Freeman) in it therefore opening up a way to bring Dave Chappelle into _Men in Tights_ . Which naturally leads to the black Sheriff of Rottingham joke, base on the black sheriff in Mel Brooks' earlier comedy masterpiece, _Blazing Saddles_ .
I love Star Wars, I love Mel Brooks, for some reason I have never found Spaceballs funny! I just think it’s dumb, but everyone else likes it so I guess I must be wrong.
The line "Unlike other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent" was poking fun at Kevin Costner, who was criticized for not speaking with an English accent in his portrayal of Robin Hood in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"
yep and I think read somewhere that the poor guy was prompted by the director not to use an English accent for some reason at the protest of the actor. I believe he wanted to but the director said nope.
Fun fact: Matthew Porretta who plays Will Scarlet in this movie, also played the role of Robin Hood in the TV series "The New Adventures of Robin Hood"
Mel Brooks told a story about how Richard Rees, the Sheriff of Rottingham, couldn't keep a straight face and kept messing up in the scene where Robin shows up at the first banquet/feast and he has that long line about killing an pig/boar in the king's forest. They had to keep reshooting it because Reese could never get through the whole bit with him saying it in the wrong order without laughing, messing up, etc.
Since you have watched "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights", I recommend watching "The Adventures of Robin Hood"(1938) from which Men in Tights also takes inspiration from and makes an homage to.
Mel Brooks is the king of Parodies. I highly recommend all his movies, but you got to watch Blazing Saddles next. That’s the reference Achoo makes at the end when he comes sharif “a black Sheriff” Achoo “why not it worked on blazing saddles.” Blazing saddles, Robin Hood men in tights, and Space Balls are my and probably most peoples favorite Mel Brooks films. But unlike I said before every Brooks movie is hilarious.
This is one of my son and I's favorite movie. I was about his age when it came out and saw it in Theaters. So glad I can share it with him and see you enjoy it as well.

17:45 Challenge to a duel! Slapping another man's face with a glove, thereby demanding a duel of honor, is a popular myth. European nobles did call out opponents to a duel, but did so in formal writing. Swords were used, but when firearms were invented, pistols were used often. Duels were usually not to the death. Since you asked for Comedy films to react to, here's a few great ones; The Princess Bride (1988) If you liked the lead actor of Robin Hood Men in Tights (Cary Elwes), He is also the lead actor of this comedy fantasy romance adventure, it's a classic, you would all love it. Zoolander (2001) (From the director and star of Tropic Thunder) There's Something About Mary (1998) (From the directors of Dumb and Dumber) School of Rock (2003) Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1998) (and it's 2 sequels) Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) The Nutty Professor (1996) (From the director of Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty and Ace Ventura 1) Groundhog Day (1993) Bowfinger (1999) Galaxy Quest (1999) (This film is similar to Spaceballs, it's a sci-fi spoof) Wet Hot American Summer (2001) Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) A Fish Called Wanda (1988) The Blues Brothers (1980) (A very musical comedy) Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006) (Another musical comedy) Clue (1985) (A mystery comedy) Spy (2015) (An action comedy but still very funny) The Big Lebowski (1998) Rush Hour (1998) (Also an action comedy) The Birdcage (1996) Game Night (2018) American Pie (1999) (and it's theatrical sequels, American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion) The Cable Guy (1996) 21 Jump Street (2012) (And it's sequel 22 Jump Street) All of these films are silly comedies that will have you laughing, there are tons of classic western comedies out there and I can't wait for you to watch them, also consider doing other Mel Brooks movies such as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein and continuing The Naked Gun movies, thank you for putting out so many great reactions!
Very nice that you're on to Mel Brooks' movies! The man is a comedic genius for sure. My favourite of his is "Young Frankenstein", but I hope you get to plenty of others, like "Spaceballs", "The Producers", and, of course, "Blazing Saddles."
Your command of the English language never ceases to amaze me. You ladies caught gags that many Americans would have missed. On a darker note, many highborn ladies in the middle ages were forced to wear chastity belts especially while their husbands were gone for long periods of time. As you three correctly surmised, they were very unsanitary. The had a small hole in the front for urine and menstrual blood and a larger hole in the back for feces.

"Transylvania Twist" from 1989 is a funny comedy movie with lots of references to other films. The parts you like the best, you can then watch the movies that part was referencing.
Comedy recommendation: "There's Something About Mary," same director as Dumb and Dumber. Mel Brooks does another spoof like this called "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" that's really good too. However you should watch "Bram Stoker's Dracula" first since it's mainly spoofing that.

28:38 Tien is actually right. The Tomahawk Chop is a traditional chant that fans do at Florida State Seminole football games and Atlanta Braves baseball games.
Wonderful as always! Some of the English is Old English, like "cut in twain", and isn't used anymore. Hela saying how silly it is while she's wearing a tiny replica soft drink cup is pretty funny. The belt is a chastity belt -- meant to keep women from having sex, and was an actual thing (actually you can still buy modern versions online). The cutting thing is a Jewish tradition where the foreskin of the penis gets cut off, usually as a baby. This still happens. Movie recommendations: Highlander (1986) Dances with Wolves (1990) The Blues Brothers (1980) Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
😎👍 I checked out your "Asian Angels" channel and noticed that you've watched a handful of "South Park" episodes. I just thought you might like to know that the actor who plays "Asneeze" in this (Isaac Hayes) is also the voice of "Chef."
The guy holding the lizard was doing a parody of The Godfather (good movie). The guy with all the arrow medals was doing a parody of the Godfather's hit man, Luca Brazzi. The third guy that didn't talk was doing a parody of Clint Eastwood in his 60s westerns.
You should watch "Ordinary People" (1980). It is a classic drama and won many Academy Awards including Best Picture. Your subscribers would love seeing this often overlooked classic.
36:18 "It's not the right key." Well, that's a curious point to consider. I mean, just how long has that lock been closed? This was the 12th century. Locks were not typically made to last. Consider that in light of the damage the Sheriff probably did with the jackhammer.
You might want to watch the 1938 The Adventures of Robin Hood. Some of the jokes were based on that movie too. Errol Flynn plays Robin Hood and he can also speak with an English accent.😁
Some other Mel Brooks movies worth watching: Blazing Saddles (a parody of traditional Western movies) and Spaceballs (a parody of Star Wars, which seems especially appropriate for you guys at the moment).
Ever heard of ''The Princess Bride'' ? Same main guy, not as silly, but still an excellent olde fantasy movie. Highly recommended. I forgot Isaac Hayes was in this! His old soul music is legendary!

The guy who played Robbin Hood in the movie is also in the movie the Princess Bride
The Rabbi in the Woods is MEL BROOKS

I'm surprised they didn't notice the "Three Wise Prisoners."
😅The girl on tne right has a tiny soft drink cup in her hair😊
It's a boba drink, not softdrink.
😎👍 I checked out your "Asian Angels" channel and noticed that you've watched a handful of "South Park" episodes. I just thought you might like to know that the actor who plays "Asneeze" in this (Isaac Hayes) is also the voice of "Chef."
Always great reactions thanks!
"A horse can carry 3?" That is a draft horse they were riding a heavy breed of horse mostly for plowling
Watching Robin Hood is fun to watch I enjoy it with you ladies
The guy holding the lizard was doing a parody of The Godfather (good movie). The guy with all the arrow medals was doing a parody of the Godfather's hit man, Luca Brazzi. The third guy that didn't talk was doing a parody of Clint Eastwood in his 60s westerns.
I love this movie.
I'm glad you ladies watched it.
It was a really good reaction video.
...there all in pink and they all look so damn cute....cuteness overload
You should watch "Ordinary People" (1980). It is a classic drama and won many Academy Awards including Best Picture. Your subscribers would love seeing this often overlooked classic.
"The chop" is something you see at Florida State University football games.
36:18 "It's not the right key."
Well, that's a curious point to consider. I mean, just how long has that lock been closed? This was the 12th century. Locks were not typically made to last. Consider that in light of the damage the Sheriff probably did with the jackhammer.
Not to mention getting the lock wet...
@@jamescurfman3284 Oh! Goodness. Yes. That, too.
@@lazyperfectionist1 :)
great reaction ladies and you all look so gorgeous!!
The punishment for John was awesome too
Beautiful as always Ladies,Hair decorations are the best.Gorgeus in Pink.
I just realised after so many years that Blinkin was the same guy from Frankenstein General Hospital.
The best Robin Hood movie.
Did we have Spaceballs already?
love your guys reactions great vid
You need to watch The Three Amigos, Born in East L.A., Tootsie, Throw Mamma from the Train, Mrs. Doubtfire, Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors
Now you have to do the other movies by mel Brooks.
•Blazing Saddles
•Dracula (Dead and Loving it)
•Young Frankenstein
•To Be or Not to Be
•History of the World Part 1
Just to name a few.
