Great video, however a little note on the nanatzcaya bit, it can be that isn't a reference to the nazca but to Ilhuícatl-Nanatzcáyan, the eighth level of heaven in mexica cosmogony, the genshin wiki recently added a bit about it, it means something like the place where the obsidian clashes. Now what does it have to do with echoes? The word used for clash can mean creak/squeak so might be a bit of a stretch but since nahuatl doesn't have a direct word for echo last a friend and I checked then that kinda does the job. Hope it helped
Well, that's interesting. I'm still slowly learning about the mesoamerican cultures, it's not something we study here, like at all. The obsidian is pretty important in the Aztec mythology, it's also one of the levels of the underworld if I'm not mistaken, and in my old Natlan video, I did have a section about it. It should be the place with the banners, but I might be wrong, I would have to read my research again to be sure. Anyway, thank you!
I'm slowly thinking that I just remember incorrectly the place I was talking, and we are basically talking about the same thing. I remember the trials of the souls of the dead, and one was in an obsidian place, probably with razoz sharp winds, not banners, those were in another trial probably. Now, since it's the souls of the dead, they should be in the underworld, but now I'm doubting my memory... I guess I need to check the mythology, it's time to refresh my memory

That weird tree-like formation in the background reminds me of Seele's stigmata/the quantum symbol(s), which are based on her stigmata since she's basically the quantum mascot, but it also reminded me of the branches of inner Irminsul. I don't know what to think about the hot springs from a lore perspective, but I think part of the reason they exist is 1. the Pyro theme but also 2. hot springs in real life are something people tend to associate with vacation spots. Many countries have them, but in this case I think Genshin borrowed the idea of Japanese onsen and gave it to Natlan. I think Natlan being associated with vacationing is part of the "heat" theme to reflect how in real life hot areas, particularly tropical ones, are huge tourist spots. Places like Bali, Hawaii, and the Maldives, but more relevant to Natlan places like Oaxaca, Tulum, Cancún, Florida, the Caribbean in general, and many places in Latin America. It's also occurred to me that the Saurian theme is also geographically relevant. There are many dinosaur fossils (a disproportionate amount, even) that have been found the Americas, particularly the United States and Argentina. Outside of the Americas China and Mongolia also have quite a few. The meteor that killed the dinosaurs is also in the Gulf of Mexico in the Chicxulub Crater. The graffiti shown reminds me a lot of graffiti in places like the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, which all have a lot, but the Americas have a lot in general, but I also am reminded of when I thought that Natlan might have a referential relationship with Zenless Zone Zero because of their release dates. Now that we've seen the graffiti I think that's more likely than I originally thought. About the order of the elements, I think the answer to that might be related to a line from the Wings of the Forest description. There's a story there characters referencing Venti, Zhongli, and the Raiden Shogun discussing their elements, and on the topic of Electro the story said "The wooden object said that all mortal thought was the work of electricity". This is technically true, but in a way it sorta connects with Makoto and Ei and their domain of consciousness. Maybe Electro is related to the creation of thought? It could also relate to why the Quicken reaction exists. The Dendro reactions were said to be related to Sumeru's history, and Nahida did use both the Dendro and Electro Gnoses. On the loading screen order it comes right before Dendro, too. Just a "thought" (Cyno moment).
It does look very similar... That's weird... OK, I know where I'll be going first when the nation is released! Yeah, the hotsprings in general mean vacation, and Natlan has been defined as a tourist spot, so it makes sense to put them there, plus many hotsprings are the result of a volcano, we have one here in Italy as well. Never been to any hotsprings before, though... The dinosaurs theme is also very relevant, so I guess we'll see some very ancient remains of dragons, like the ones we can already see in the video, which makes the place even more intriguing and interesting. I wonder if they'll do something for the crater... The graffiti... You've never been to Italy... You can't even begin to understand how many graffiti we have here, at least in the south. They're everywhere: walls, tunnels, under bridges, on the trains even! But this associates Natlan with Zenless Zone Zero. For as much as I've seen, it's pretty much a game centered on the streets (I need to play the web event and get the character I won, now that you reminded me about the game). Electro as the birth of thought is an interesting concept, especially since Makoto used her consciousness to achieve a "miracle". And Nahida using both gnoses, sounds like thoughts, memories and dreams, which is also very interesting....
@@ShadowXImpactI’ve been in the airspace over Italy before… There’s some pretty huge graffiti and murals in Latin America and particularly Brazil. Im glad u made this a different video. The theory about pyro being the 'originator' element makes a whole lotta sense Btw why is electro always in this weird spot like do we even know where is the elctro dragon and everything about it seems really muddy. I really hope it is intentional and there is a reason behind it.
Yeah, it needed a video on its own, it was the best choice, it seems. As for the Electro Dragon (or Lightning Dragon?), I suppose it's simply dead and didn't come back to life. Apep told us that some dragons didn't want to keep suffering, so they decided to stay dead, so she was probably talking about this one. As for it being intentional, I think it was. I have the weirdest idea that the Electro Dragon and Electro in general, is related to the abyss, so having an Abyss or Void Dragon so early I the game, would have spoiled the whole thing. As to why I think so, Ei's slash managed to erase an entire section of Yashiori Island, Ei's slash opens a rift into something that looks like the abyss, and the abyss portals we've seen so far, usually have lightning all around them, like the ones inside the Book of Revelations.
@@ShadowXImpact if that is true then your theory becomes even more interesting because that implies the void/abyss was there before life even began. I always felt like ei had a bigger role to play in the endgame(still believe combat wise, she is the strongest archon) and they all being tied to electro and the abyss would definitely be awesome. Wdyt of the line at the tail end of the itto event this patch? It feels like they are even setting up ei to fight. Also ei can literally slash you into the shadow realm 😭😭 cyno watch out
I don't think the saurians are based off elements but reactions. Each saurian has some sort of red or fiery ability mixed with whatever other element they are, for example the crystalize saurian has fiery red almost crystalize like rocks when it digs underground and the vape saurian has orange bits on it and can swim in lava. I also think this makes sense because reactions are combat related and are like the elements "clashing" in a sense.
It can make sense. For the Geo Saurians, they basically melt the ground, but the crystals look like that Geomarrow from Liyue and Sumeru, to be honest. But wouldn't it create shields, if it's based on reactions? The only real problem comes with the Dendro Saurian. We didn't really see it doing anything Pyro related, but above all, because it's Dendro, poor little guy, his skill would be burning!
Love your videos! The only thing I'd say, order of the elements in the game does not really make sense paired with history of life on Earth. Even agreeing that Pyro would come first, the next three would have to be the three non-biological elements, geo, hydro, and cryo. Then electro, bringing necessary energy to create biological elements and only after that dendro and anemo, with dendro coming first as you need "plants" and photosynthesis before you can have oxygen atmosphere. But I think it is a question whether the order of elements in the loading screen is anything but random. For instance characters in our rosters are ordered geo-anemo-cryo-electro-dendro-hydro-pyro when their main sorting attribute (e.g. level) and rarity (4*/5*) is the same, that's definitely a different order than in the loading screen.
Thank you, I'm happy you liked the video!!! So, I doubt that the order of those elements is random, very little things are in this game, at least to me. It would be obvious to think that Geo would be the first one, but taking the "four hundred years after the held branches" chapter in Before Sun and Moon, if we think that Pyro is the forge, so what actually created the world, then Pyro created the mountains, then hydro the rivers and oceans, but we also know that Hydro created the living beings, then there are the birds of air, so anemo, and the other beasts are still under hydro from before, then they created the flowers, grass and trees, so Dendro, then there's the sky, probably Cryo, and the sand on the shore for Geo, the Primordial sands. The only element that doesn't fit is Electro, coming before Dendro. I do still think that electro is related to the abyss for the various reasons I proposed in past videos, but the other elements, at least, seem fitting with the genenis of Teyvat. I don't think it's a coincidence either but, if Natlan is actually the forge of Teyvat, then we'll learn about it when we get there
From the informations we've got so far, the way you associated each saurian to an element makes sense. Still it would bother me so much if there was no cryo related saurian. The most logical thing to do is to create a species of saurian that combines pyro and then evolved merging with another element, giving birth to six species, one for each element added to pyro (hydro + pyro, dendro + pyro, geo + pyro, electro + pyro, anemo + pyro, cryo + pyro). So why would there be a saurian that simply kept its pyro roots unchanged?
Well, it is still the land of Pyro, so as i said in the video, low temperatures probably never had the chance to appear. Considering that the ancient dragons adapted to the land, if there's no cold, they wouldn't have developed Cryo, so although it's sad that we won't see any Cryo Saurians, it does make sense. When it comes to the Pyro ones, they probably stayed in a pyro concentrated area, and in that case, they wouldn't have had the need to adapt to anything else, so they stayed as close as their direct ancestors. Plus, again, it's the land of Pyro, so it wouldn't make sense for no Pyro Saurians to be there in the first place
We would need to have his remains first, and the Tsaritsa has them, so.... Maybe it would work? It would be interesting to see the gnoses simmering in the hotsprings XD
@@diazpramudita5165 yeah as I said, let's simmer the gnoses like eggs in the hotsprings and maybe the soul will come back together with the body, instead of taking Childe's XD
I’m sorry to break it to you but we will have to wait a whole month for natlan to be released to it’s not coming until mid August likely I really wanted it to be earlier but sadly no Also I agree with you theory on teyvat being created if the new world was reborn then I likely happened through fire and since volcanoes actually help make more plant life it’s possible that it was the same for teyvat also if the pyro archon having the ability to resurrect herself is true then maybe its like a egeria type of situation were the og pyro archon was created to be the new heart of the primal fire possibly and since egeria was also kinda a dragon the same could be for murata I mean I already had this history that she was half dragon and that she and the pyro sovereign could be siblings born from the same place so it checks out also don’t know if you notice but the dendro dragon has the same eye pupils as nahida I don’t think it’s much relevant, but it’s nice detail showing there connection to dendro also I wonder if there are any other primordial elements like the primordial sea and primal fire I have this theory that irminsul is primordial dendro which is kinda confirmed or maybe implied and that time is primordial anemo and there’s the primordial sands with geo which just leaves cryo and electro left
I'll wait tomorrow (or whenever they came out) when the characters from the next patch are showcased. If they're from Fontaine, then we'll have 4.8, if they're from Natlan, then we're going straight to 5.0. The thing is that we always get a summer event that has to do with Alice, and she is involved in the Imaginarium Theater, so there is a slight chance that turned 4.7 into the summer event. It's a slight hope, but it's still there. I don't know about Murata being a dragon like Egeria, it would be a repetition, when every single nation has had a completely different story. I feel like the writers most likely came out with something new and innovative for her, to be honest. Yeah, the Dendro saurian has the same pupils as Nahida, which is a nice detail. Too bad we didn't see the Hydro one's eyes to see if they were similar to Neuvillette's.... There's the Primordial Sea, the Primal Fire, the Primordial Sands, the thousand winds, most likely Irminsul as you said. Cryo and Electro are weird, but I'm still of the opinion that the "Primordial Electro" may be the abyss, because most of the times, we see lightnings coming out of the abyss portals, but also Ei literally slashed into the fabric of reality and there's something very similar to the abyss in the slash, while Cryo... I think they're going for the flat earth theories there, so we will probably have an ice wall that keeps everything inside, a massive shield all around Teyvat, so the fake sky. Who knows?
@@isaiahhaley4816 oh yeah, o forgot about that image. Yeah, they don't look the same, although the Saurian has the nictitating membrane on half of its eye, so we can't see it perfectly. Still, it doesn't look like it... That's sad!
@@ShadowXImpact I wouldn’t say it’s sad. It’s just that there not of the same dragon race as neuvillette if there native the natlan ofc but the bishops certainly do have the same eye color as neuvillette which reminds me, I need to go check and see if the pyro dragon we saw has any eye color we can find EDIT I saw what I think was an eye and it’s red but I’m not sure
@@isaiahhaley4816 you know what the Pyro saurian's eye look like? Arlecchino's.... They're black with a red pupil, and she's the only one with the same pattern in the eye. I'm not saying they're associated... Unless!
You mean the rectangular orange thing near the pink flowers on the left? It doesn't look like it, because there's no space in the middle for the symbol of the element and it's not turning, but I can't be sure, so I guess we'll see!
This video was very good and informative and im still intrigued by what u said here 4:49 it reminded me of what Ei actually says in one of her voiceline. "The world of the people of Inazuma is also thus. There, thunder, lightning, wind, and rain were primordial facts of life, as well as light, and the sea... and the Raiden Shogun." I always thought it was weird that she says this and why she included herself these "primordial facts of life" Maybe u could enlight me about it? Maybe im reading it wrongly lmaoo, we shall see! Natlan THE region im most excited about, the landscape being canyons, high plateaux with Baobabs trees with the balafon instrument playing in the back ground is very on par with what Talking stick established. Natlan is not only inspired by Mesoamerica but also by Africa. They are very colorfull regions and cultures so im glad Natlan reflect that ans its not some barren place. No I hope Hoyoverse will also be accurate when it comes to depict characters that lives in those places ahah Also Nanatzcayan tribe is most likely also inspired by Ilhuícatl-Nanatzcáyan one of the 13 Heavens in mexican cosmogony. It means "the place where the obsidian knives are creaking" pretty fiting for a mining tribe no ? And this particular Heaven is the abode of the god of Death. A place of storm, wind and Darkness (where it is born). And this description of the place is what makes me believe Iansan is part of this tribe as she litteraly has the name of Oya Iansan the orisha (god) of storms, wind, Death and rebirth of the Yoruba culture. It fits pretty well ahah Thank you for this video🎉
I honestly never heard that voice line... Weird.... Still, Ei being one of the Primordial facts could maybe make sense because she is the personification of lightning? Or maybe she's simply saying that the people has to consider her as important as what keeps them alive. I mean, she's a shogun, so basically a tyrant, it wouldn't be unheard of if she wanted her people to revere her as the highest authority ever seen. Well, Natlan has become my obsession, that little is obvious, so I really can't wait to go there and explore everything! I'm also intrigued by the huge mix of cultures they're putting in this nation. These are cultures that here in Italy we don't study at all. We just know that the Aztec, Maya and Inca existed (not even any other civilization) and then they were eliminated by the conquerors. We know basically nothing of their customs, legends, mythology, religion. Africa is even less study. I literally know nothing at all about. So, I'll take this opportunity to expand my knowledge by studying these new cultures as they come! I was told about the Nanazcayan heaven. It didn't come out when I looked for the word, so I went with the closest thing I could find, but yeah, it makes more sense, also considering obsidian was one of the topic of my previous Natlan video, although it was one of the levels of the underworld. Wait, I'm getting confused now... Was it in the underworld? I remember these trials that the souls of the dead had to pass to move on in the afterlife, and one was in an obsidian place with razor winds... Are we talking about the same place, but I remembered incorrectly that it was in the underworld? As for Iansan, she also has a scull on her head, so the theme of death seems fitting! Thank you for watching, I'm happy you liked it!!!
@ShadowX5452Gaming mexica cosmogony has the heaven with its 13 levels, the earth, and the underworld of 8 levels. And about not finding a result for nanatzcayan, you see some topics regarding mesoamerican things might not have a lot of info in english or Italian, which I assume are the languaged you used, so trying to search for results in spanish could be a bit useful since the language has a lot of accesible resources bcs of historical reasons
@@draco5770 yeah, I need to refresh my memory. I think I was actually talking about the underworld and the trials of the souls of the dead, but apparently there's another obsidian place in the Heavens as well. As for the research, I only use English, I don't even bother with Italian, especially with mesoamerican cultures. It's so far away from what we study in Italy, I have little hope to find anything in my own language. But I'll try Spanish for the next Natlan video. I did study it and I was able to survive in Spain for a week, so I should be able to understand what I find!
I don't think Natlan will also have mythology from the Philippines, but who knows? Since the moon has been very important in these last updates, maybe we could get something similar

Okay, what if we use the hotspring to heal the 3rd Descender body & soul? 😂
We would need to have his remains first, and the Tsaritsa has them, so.... Maybe it would work? It would be interesting to see the gnoses simmering in the hotsprings XD
@@ShadowXImpact The body would be the 7 Gnosis after Snezhnaya got a hold of Pyro Gnosis and for the soul how about we go with Childe 🤣.
@@diazpramudita5165 yeah as I said, let's simmer the gnoses like eggs in the hotsprings and maybe the soul will come back together with the body, instead of taking Childe's XD
I’m sorry to break it to you but we will have to wait a whole month for natlan to be released to it’s not coming until mid August likely I really wanted it to be earlier but sadly no
Also I agree with you theory on teyvat being created if the new world was reborn then I likely happened through fire and since volcanoes actually help make more plant life it’s possible that it was the same for teyvat also if the pyro archon having the ability to resurrect herself is true then maybe its like a egeria type of situation were the og pyro archon was created to be the new heart of the primal fire possibly and since egeria was also kinda a dragon the same could be for murata I mean I already had this history that she was half dragon and that she and the pyro sovereign could be siblings born from the same place so it checks out also don’t know if you notice but the dendro dragon has the same eye pupils as nahida I don’t think it’s much relevant, but it’s nice detail showing there connection to dendro also I wonder if there are any other primordial elements like the primordial sea and primal fire I have this theory that irminsul is primordial dendro which is kinda confirmed or maybe implied and that time is primordial anemo and there’s the primordial sands with geo which just leaves cryo and electro left
Who knows?
@@ShadowXImpact the Hydro dragons eyes can be seen in the thumbnail of the natlan teaser and well sadly, there not the same
@@isaiahhaley4816 oh yeah, o forgot about that image. Yeah, they don't look the same, although the Saurian has the nictitating membrane on half of its eye, so we can't see it perfectly. Still, it doesn't look like it... That's sad!
@@ShadowXImpact I wouldn’t say it’s sad. It’s just that there not of the same dragon race as neuvillette if there native the natlan ofc but the bishops certainly do have the same eye color as neuvillette which reminds me, I need to go check and see if the pyro dragon we saw has any eye color we can find
EDIT
I saw what I think was an eye and it’s red but I’m not sure
@@isaiahhaley4816 you know what the Pyro saurian's eye look like? Arlecchino's.... They're black with a red pupil, and she's the only one with the same pattern in the eye. I'm not saying they're associated... Unless!
We don't talk about (Bruno) Pyro Archon, no no no. ~
Also the healing hot springs remembers me to the ones of Hollow Knight, that's awesome XD
The Pyro Archon who? XD
I never played Hollow Knight, but I just read that it recovers SOUL while in it, which sound very, very similar!
@@ShadowXImpact Hey, Emilie the perfurmer is out now!! I guess we're having 4.8 at the end
@@Kynokefalos yeah, I just saw, I was about to make a post about it. Natlan has been delayed... This is pure evil!!!
1:08 is that glowing orange thing in the background the pyrocolus?
You mean the rectangular orange thing near the pink flowers on the left? It doesn't look like it, because there's no space in the middle for the symbol of the element and it's not turning, but I can't be sure, so I guess we'll see!
This video was very good and informative and im still intrigued by what u said here 4:49
it reminded me of what Ei actually says in one of her voiceline.
"The world of the people of Inazuma is also thus. There, thunder, lightning, wind, and rain were primordial facts of life, as well as light, and the sea... and the Raiden Shogun."
I always thought it was weird that she says this and why she included herself these "primordial facts of life"
Maybe u could enlight me about it? Maybe im reading it wrongly lmaoo, we shall see!
Natlan THE region im most excited about, the landscape being canyons, high plateaux with Baobabs trees with the balafon instrument playing in the back ground is very on par with what Talking stick established. Natlan is not only inspired by Mesoamerica but also by Africa.
They are very colorfull regions and cultures so im glad Natlan reflect that ans its not some barren place.
No I hope Hoyoverse will also be accurate when it comes to depict characters that lives in those places ahah
Also Nanatzcayan tribe is most likely also inspired by Ilhuícatl-Nanatzcáyan one of the 13 Heavens in mexican cosmogony.
It fits pretty well ahah
Thank you for this video🎉
I wish natlan have a moon eating dragon(bakunawa). If that dragon eat the corpse of moon in teyvat im sure we will see the truth
I don't think Natlan will also have mythology from the Philippines, but who knows? Since the moon has been very important in these last updates, maybe we could get something similar
