PLE..PLE.. PLEASE do an episode with Jason Burton. People need to see what a 1 man shop can do. How much work is involved in making a Colt "perfect" in every way.
I have a lot of Milt Sparks holsters. Bought my first in 1979. Carried a 1911 in an IWB for 23 years of my LE career. Retired now, I still do. There is nothing better than a Milt Sparks holster. They are worth the wait. Thank you for educating the new generation and keeping the history professional craftsman alive. It is so important.
Plastic guns get plastic holsters but all my 1911's from officers models to full size government models all go in a Milt Sparks leather holster!! Very good video!!
As a manufacturing engineer, it is always a pleasure seeing the process, first hand, of craftsmanship on this level. I love spending the time to see the tools, processes, tips, tricks, and mental "notebook" of talented craftsmen and tradesmen. I am blessed to have been mentored, if only briefly on numerous occasions, by some skilled, old-school machinist. Some of the smartest, handiest people I've ever met worked in tool-rooms back in the day.
I’m a retired LEO and have been carrying concealed for decades. I’ve been using Milt Sparks for some 30 years. I have numerous Milt Sparks holsters. I can tell you without reservation that their products are outstanding. I’ve traveled out to their shop, met both Nick and Jim, and can’t say enough good things about them.
Great folks making great holsters. I live 20 minutes from their shop. I was picking up an order and Nick gave me a tour. What I found most interesting was their equipment is VINTAGE OLD but they can still get parts. Simple process with man’s talents give a super holster. I’ll be back in two months for another pickup.
Milt Sparks has been my go to holster company since 1992. Bought my first one at Gunsite in the Pro Shop, and I have over thirty different holsters at this time.
What an absolute thrill to watch a holster almost just like mine being made. Mine is for a Commander and natural so I could enjoy the beauty of the leather even more. Oh, and the initials on it are NH. It is a stunningly great design. Keeping a good coat of Renaissance Wax is helping keep it almost new despite the sweat and humidity of Florida. It is so much more comfortable than Kydex. Thanks to all the folks who keep the flame of Milt alive.
Love the nostalgia that this video brings for what is almost a bygone era. Since I had to carry a polymer pistol from a certain Austrian company for most of a 30 year LE career, I never owned a 1911 due to the difference in manual of arms under stress. Now in retirement, I’m very likely to break the piggy bank for a 1911…and why not win a Milt Sparks holster to put one in?! Many moons ago, I had a Summer Special for my then-issued S&W 5906 for off-duty and plainclothes and loved it. The quality of these holsters is incredible.
@@commandobond And why not?! Likely (unless I win a VM2!) I would get the Executive Companion…always been partial to the design and elegant appearance.
I just happened to be putting on my daily carry setup consisting of a VM-2, a 1911 mag carrier and handheld light carrier, all Milt Sparks leather when I got the notification for this video. And my VM-2 is also stamped NH, pretty cool!!
Great video!!! As a leather maker this really motivates me and my craft. I used to make leather holsters, but now wallets, belts and credit card holders... again thanks for the wonderful interview. M.SAMSON JR
Outstanding video! Like most, I had heard of Milt Sparks and knew there was a long history behind the company. Now after viewing this video I know a little more about the history. Enjoyed watching a VM2 being crafted, another fine example of American craftsmanship at its best. I cannot wait to get a Milt Sparks holster of my own.
My favorite holsters. Well worth the wait and the money. Their belts are also amazing. Their single loop summer special is my favorite with its higher ride.
I've been dealing with some family issues and got behind on watchin videos. This was a great one... I really liked seeing how the VM-2 was put together, especially the forming. I can see why it takes awhile to get people trained. I had to laugh when I saw that you use deer antler to burnish the edges. Never would have guessed that's what is used... I loved seeing Milt's National Match. Jason did an incredible job restoring it. I've got an original NM sitting next to me. Well in full disclosure, there is also a Series 70 Gov't and two lightweight Commanders LOL. I just turned 63 years old. My grandfather gave me my first Colt when I was 13 years old, and I've been collecting them ever since... I just picked up an earlier SS1 Gov't and a horsehide SS2 for Commanders to add to the collection of leather. Neither had been used. I do need to order a fancy holster, but I'll probably have it made for my S&W 586... Duck you mentioned that you went through the tacticool phase. I never did that. I just can't stand the thought of screwing a big ass optic on the top of such a beautiful gun. My eyesight isn't what it once was, so it would probably help me, but I can't bring myself to do it. I think if I get to that point, I'll put one on a Glock... It was funny that you mentioned having to call to order. The first time I went to the website, I thought there was something wrong because I couldn't figure out how to order online LOL... It doesn't bother me having to call.
For a long time now, I've always been told or read somewhere that if you need a leather holster "Get a Milt Sparks". I have failed myself for not ever getting one. That will change someday soon. Great Video!
Received my full milt setup for my 5" Baer a few months ago. Absolutely in love with it. I also have a summer special 2 that i carry a commander in every day.
I love all of my milt sparks holster. Carry my favorite custom 1911 in a 1AT competition with a knurled thumb screw made by Milt and its my favorite holster.
I’m really exited to put my 1998 Colt Comp Commander in this rig when I win. Great to hear from the crew and see them putting my winning holster together!
Outstanding video, thanks! Milt Sparks has been a legend holster maker for years, I’m lucky to have two 1AT holsters that I use for my 1911. Great products!
I am the proud owner of two 55BN’s and three PMK’s! The two times that I’ve ordered gun leather from Milt Sparks, they have given nothing short of 5 Star service!
I have a VM2 Gov. Railed Optic Ready on order and playing the waiting game. I own a SS2 Gov., 55BN and a Criterion for a Commander. I am not ashamed to ask where is my new holster? I can always use another VM2. 😃 Amazed to see the President of the company building his product. Oh yeah a great invention Milt Sparks came up with. Those Magnetic clasps on the criterion and available on the VM2. Whats those words? GAME CHANGER. The Snaps work, but magnets make putting on and taking off a breeze.
I got my first high end 1911 this spring and ordered several Milt Sparks holsters at that time. Im expecting a delivery around Christmas time. Cant wait 👍
This is very interesting! Great to learn more about the Milt Sparks Leather company! I have a lot of antique and vintage duty leather, but no Milt Sparks as of yet, and Ive wanted to learn more before taking that step. Thanks for this.
Made the transition as a kydex guy to the milt sparks SS2 this summer. Needless to say I began the 40 week lead time for 55BN last week. Thanks for making this video!
I will add that I kind of got into collecting Bruce Nelson style holsters… i have a few 55 BN’s and one excellent condition that Bruce himself made. One of these days I need to make a picture gallery of them….
GREAT VIDEO, all my 1911 leather and commander leather has been from Milt Sparks, since Milt owned the company. My every day carry is the classic Summer Special.
I have a nighthawk thunder ranch 1911 and it’s my battle gun with a summer carry milt sparks holster and I love it. With that said Alchemy’s guns are in my list.
@@1776_duckI didn’t even see this message until today. Also saw the message at the Bren Ten video. Very kind of you, but I’d like to donate that VMII holster to someone else. I have dozens upon dozens of Milt Sparks holsters. Very flattering to see that I actually win something. ❤
Love some milt sparks holsters. I have one for my Quantico single stack when I don’t carry a light on it. Have one for my staccato and govt and commander non railed 1911s. I heard the VM mentioned several times but I’m partial to the Criterion.
In my opinion Milt Sparks are the best leather holsters hands down. I have carried Sigs, Glocks, and 1911s in their holsters. The last one I bought was for a WC SFX9 and that pistol fit in the Summer Special perfectly right out of the bag. My MS holsters are just plain comfortable to carry.
Awesome video thanks! Highlighting this great company and craftsmanship is spectacular keep it up fine sir! Need some milt sparks greatness in my life ha.
Currently have five Summer Special II holsters. Comfortable with 1911’s, Glock, or Sig. Carried a Govt model all day today in 80 degree weather. No problems or discomfort.
Do yourself a favor check out Mitch Rosen holsters as well. I have several and they are very high quality. I have not tried Milt Sparks yet but they look beautiful as well. There is nothing like a well crafted hand boned quality leather holster, to carry an Heirloom quality handgun
I have 3 of their holsters for just 2 different guns. I also have a belt and mag pouch. The FINEST products made come from Milt Sparks. Worth the wait.
