According to space pirate logs in Metroid Prime the metroids do not consume anything that can be measured when they drain a victim. The log said they measured to see what was missing after a metroid drained a creature to death and all measurements were the same.
I recalled that as well. I think they weren't taking the "lifeforce" drain thing more directly for this video. The implication is clearly that the Chozo understand more about life than humans (or space pirates) in our world or the Metroid one
One thing left out is that they apparently have the ability to transmit the "life force" that they suck out of prey to another being, as seen in Metroid III.
had no idea metroids progressed beyond the little jellyfish looking stage, very interesting. would be interested to hear what you have to say about their relationship with the chozo
Imagine if THE BABY survived to become queen? What would it take for them to be able to fit into the food web without breaking it down. Could they be made to be more like big cats or bears that can be safely interacted with in certain circumstances or are the forever doom to be the doom bringing omega hippos of the Cosmos.
Samus Returns does several things that call it canonicity into question (There are other examples, but the worst is Ridley still has mechanical pieces, and even with a generous estimate of 12 hours, it's a stretch he could have those removed in time for the opening of Super Metroid, it is a game series, but that's still pretty bad), so the only definitely canon depictions of Zeta is Metroid 2, where they fly, just like all the others including the Omegas. Omegas it seems can fly or walk (because Metroid II and Metroid Fusion show them as flying and walking respectively)
great video but I dunno if it was overlooked or forgotten but the Metroids did not naturally evolve and go wild. They were under perfect control at first until they came across the mysterious and unknown Aeion energy source. This energy caused them to evolve at an alarming and unnatural rate. They soon evolved into Alpha, Gamma, Zeta and Omega Metroids with eventually a single Omega further evolved into a Queen Metroid thus allowing their species to reproduce instead of relying on the Chozo to create them. The Aeion energy also made them extremely violent and uncontrollable which led to the Chozo sealing them away.
Uhm... No? The chozo didn't seal away the metroids, they simply created them to hunt the Xs and left them on the planet to continue the task. The metroids didn't attack the chozo thoha because they were specifically designed not to attack that specific tribe, otherwise they are aggressive towards any other creature
Thanks for the invite to talk about what is clearly the greatest Nintendo franchise :)
@@subraxas I SAID WHAT I SAID
😂
@@subraxas no, yeah. Metroid is the only good Nintendo games
@@subraxas all B-sides to the greatest 3, Mario, Zelda, Metroid. The OG Adventure Series.

Love this channel.
Thankfully we seem to be at the start of a Metroid resurgence.

And that metroids gain the ability to copy other abilities both organic and robotic after mutating either by phazon or too much beta rays

That wish may be granted sooner than you expect!
The larval Metroid’s binary fission is very similar to the strobulation of jellyfish
Thing about these, is there is a jellyfish that they are modeled after, also the vampire squid.
8:16 “Like mosquito, may they all burn in hell” 💯

Yeah, I was gonna say, I was pretty sure they can all fly
More Metroid please
“Like a vampire’s weakness to silver…”
*pre-Stoker lore intensifies*
Samus is badass.
Wow metroid has changed a lot since the 1980's. Very little mention made about the Galaxy Police.
The Galactic Federation is what the Galaxy Police turned into
Have you done a video on Marvel comics Symbiotes?
To put a blueprint into a cell with the intention of building a machine…

Wow
They're like tyranids from 40k.
