- Join me for a peek into my life as an artist. But it's not just any week-it's the first full week with my new studio companion, my 12-week-old puppy, Willow! Follow along with me as I tackle everything from admin tasks to unboxing new art for my walls and, of course, plenty of painting, all while juggling puppy mama life. To be honest, I'm a little surprised by how well it's all going! I hope you enjoy the video. I just love seeing how other creatives navigate their days. Yes! I don't know if I had really tried to articulate that...but you are absolutely right! It is her calmness that makes me feel sort of safe, and like I can trust her to share in a way that inspires. She is so genuine.
Thank you, I'm so glad my videos have that effect. I watch quite a few TH-cam channels for similar reasons-to bring a bit of calm and comfort into my day. Some people are incredibly soothing! It's so nice to soak it in after a busy day.

Thank you, I've been a bit surprised at how it has all worked out. I think the timing was just right for us to get a puppy. We thought about it a lot before jumping in and it is much easier now than when we had our last puppy 12 years ago! Children are older; there's more time to devote to her and she's so easy to love bomb!!

Welcome to your new family member; she is absolutely adorable! I've finally adapted to the dogs. They are pretty laid back now in their old age, but they want to go in and out and in and out, etc. However, getting adapted to the cats is a whole other story. My studio is in my home - the other side of the kitchen - and it's an open plan so there is no way to keep them out. The struggle is real having to put everything up and away every time I want to work. There are painted kitty paw prints all over the house. LOL. I love the vlog format!

You are spot on. Willow is obsessed with the cat, the cat is perplexed by the whole situation but handles it quite calmly and maturely. It's his turn, though, as when he was a kitten, he pestered our old dog, Cooper, to no end!! Karma. I think in the end Willow and Spencer will be friends, each day things get a bit better.
Love this type of content, and after losing my kitty last week it was so nice to feel joy watching your sweet puppy.
So sorry for the loss of your kitty, glad that you enjoyed this 💖

BUT, I stopped everything when I saw your Cavadoodle!!! I got my first dog at 6. Life hasn’t been the same since. Best thing I’ve done in maybe ever, ok not as great as learning to paint but my little Cheeky is my joy in life even though I have lots to be joyful about. It’s my cheeky that makes me laugh relish every bit of my time with her. ❤❤❤

I too have a new puppy in my studio. New challenges eh! Yes Canadian. Question for you , looks kie you're working on paper and illustration board perhaps. I assume you mount on cradle panels. The other question is using oil pastels in your wor, how do you seal them. I LOVE oil pastels but always had to frame under glass. I hate framing with glass. Thoughts please. Love your channel, very inspiring. Wondering how I can have a wee house as a whole work site studio.
Hope puppy life is going well for you! I am working on paper and I often sell these pieces for people to frame. You can mount on boards; you would just want to use quite a few layers of fixative, especially for the oil pastel. The Sennelier oil pastel fixative is quite good and then you could also finish off with a spray varnish to protect against UV.

Buying dogs. As if there aren't enough at the pound to be taken before being put down. Come on!!!
I appreciate your comment and did look at shelters. I did my research for a year before deciding this would be best dog for my family for various reasons. I don’t think that overpopulation is the problem I think it’s retention. More education and process is needed for dog owners. My pets are my world. My view is that people should be able to get the dog breed they want and that suits their lifestyle so long as they get it from an ethical place and are committed to giving it the best life ever which of course I am.
