Hi Katie! So glad to see you got the recent Mojo magazine Revolver edition 'n that yours included the cd. I've been a subscriber to Mojo for 'bout 10 years 'n every one included a bonus cd...until last year when I bought my subscription from a seller in N.Y. instead o' England. The U.S. versions came without cd's so now I've subscribed again from England. I'm really impressed that you are a fan o' Avant-Garde music! Me too. I'll name a few faves: John Cage, Morton Subotnick, Joe Byrd & The Field Hippies, Moondog (before they were The Beatles they were Johnny & The Moondogs as John was a Moondog fan), Eno, Philip Glass, Pierre Henry, Pierre Schaeffer, Mothers Of Invention, Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, Klaus Schulze...Thank you for sharin' with us yer Beatles magazines-most excellent.
Oh, yeah I would have switched my subscription back to England, too, then! It’s weird the American seller didn’t include the CD. :-/ Wow, that’s quite a great list! I’ll admit I’m unfamiliar with a few of them, but that actually makes me happy because now I can go check them out, haha. Thanks so much for such a nice comment! 👍
I like the beatles. Music is about the feeling and they had the feeling. They did the best they could. The music business is not easy, full of pressures. They were together for a long time. They got along together as four friends. They liked each other. Their music was positive and fun to listen to. if I was down they would pick me up. Thank you.
Great collection Katie, thanks for showing. That Hit Parader took me back. I was your age and H. Parader, R.Stone, Circus and my fav., Creem were "required" reading, if you wanted to stay on top. No internet, which I guess blows younger people's minds today. No cell phones or running water even, Ha-Ha. Anyway, a very cool video! Hope you enjoyed your 3-day weekend. You mentioned the term Avant-garde early on. It reminded me of a George Harrison quote he made during the Beatle days. While staring at a 60's abstract painting, he was asked his opinion. With his dry sense of humor, he replied "avant garde a clue." I love George. Guess we'll see you next weekend (I hope)! ps I love your "fan girl" moments, they're cool. Take care, your Beatle buddy. ☮n'♥ 🤠
Aww, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I really appreciate such a wonderful comment! :-) Haha, that is quite a funny quote by George-I had never heard it before! 😂 And yes, hopefully this weekend I’ll post another video! We shall see, haha. I hope you have an amazing rest of your day, my friend!
I enjoyed your post. I used to collect Beatles Monthly magazine back in the late 1980s or maybe early 90's. I think I still have them stored away in a box.
Thanks so much! :-) It’s awesome you’ve got a cool collection like that! Maybe one day you’ll pull them out and give them another look through! 👍 Have a great rest of your day!
Those are some awesome magazines! 🤩 I have a Mojo magazine as well, only it focused on "Rubber Soul". 😌 I even have the magazine about Paul and John! 😁 And the first Beatles magazine I ever got was a People magazine that focused on fifty five years of Beatlemania, which my dad gave me four years ago. 🙂 Also, I love your Beatles hoodie! 😊
Aww, thanks, Amanda! :-) And you’ve got some super cool magazines! I love that you’ve got the Rubber Soul Mojo issue! 👍 Haha, and thank you! My mom found it at Target, I believe. 😊
Katie Have you heard of all the "Paul's dead" references and clues .. lol? 1. The hand above his head on the cover of Sgt. Pepper album 2. Bare feet on the Abbey Road album cover 3. At the very end of the song Strawberry Fields, you can hear what sounds like "I buried Paul". 4. His image on the cover of Magical Mystery Tour is supposed to be a symbol of death. There are other references but this is just a few. Thought you'd like to know!
Hi Katie. You have a fantastic magazine collection and I'm sure you'll be adding more as time goes on. Your mention of the Paul Is Dead topic got me to remember the old Saturday Night Live skit with Chris Farley interviewing Paul. CF: "Remember when you were with the Beatles and you were supposed to be dead? ... That was a hoax... right?" PM: "Yeah... I wasn't really dead." If you haven't seen this clip, try to catch it on TH-cam. I know you'll enjoy it. Thanks for the video. :- )
Aww, thanks so much! :-) Haha, yes I’ve seen that clip! It’s pretty funny-especially the way Paul sits so stoically all the way through it. 😂 Thanks for recommending it anyway! And I hope you have a great rest of your day! 👍
Great collection Katie! Every time I watch one of your videos you always encourage me to start collecting different Beatles things. Now it’s going to be magazines! 😅
Hey Katie....Nice collection! The Paul McCartney magazine you have was released in the US in July of 1964....(they did 1 magazine each of the 4 Beatles)...to coincide with the bands upcoming tour of the USA...(August 19-Septeber 20, 1964)...and the "Paul Is Dead" magazine is from late October 1969....
Thank you so much! :-) And thanks for letting me know-how interesting! I’ve always wondered what the magazine’s story was, and now I know! I really appreciate it! 👍
Beatles on Broadway was in the family but I may have drawn some things on the pages when I was a kid. I'm a bad person. Still got it. I love that moment in Car Pool where Corden talks about his grandad and father telling him about The Beatles, saying 'if my grandad was here right now he'd get a real kick out of this' clearly emotional and Paul just going 'he is'. How'd you do on the quiz!?
Ooh, I’ve seen that magazine, and it looks so cool! It’s awesome you’ve got it! :-D Aww, and yeah that’s probably the best part of the whole special, honestly. Such a sweet moment. :-) Oh you mean the psychology quiz? (How nice of you to remember!) I got a 9/10, which I was very thankful for, haha.
Katie that is a awesome collection , but what I really like is your sweatshirt. ! Love everything about the Beatles , THANK you Frank from montana.......
Wow! That vintage Paul magazine from the Beatlemania days is really cool. I have a lot of solo years magazines - Paul on the cover of ROLLING STONE and TiME magazine that I bought in 1976 during the “Wings Over America” tour, also John Lennon on the covers of TIME and NEWSWEEK from the week after he died in 1980 - and a lot of stuff from more recent years… The all time McCartney magazine grail for me would be to acquire the 1970 LIFE magazine issue with Paul and Linda on the front cover photo at their Scotland farm. I think it says “Paul is NOT dead” on the front if I’m not mistaken. It has great black and white photos of them, that is such an intriguing period for me…. Nice video 👍 Oh yes, this is slightly embarrassing to mention, but I still have the 1980 John & Yoko PLAYBOY interview which I had read the day before he was killed, very, very, interesting.
Thank you! :-) Wow, I love your collection! It’s so neat that you got to buy them when they originally released! 👍 Haha, the Paul is Not Dead magazine is the one I’ve been looking for, too! It’d be fun to find, that’s for sure! Thanks for the lovely comment, my friend!
Oh wow, that’s so cool! I bet it was interesting to live through all the Paul is dead stuff. Haha, and which alarm? (I’m sorry, my brain is working at a deficit. 😂)

I dunno why, but I think Katie really, REALLY digs the Beatles GOOD LOOKS. And I bet she day dreams about how good looking Paul McCartney REALLY IS. I even bet she whispers his name in dreams!
You have a good eye for selecting some excellent magazines. I have never seen the one where the photo on the cover changes from John to the group. Did you find that at your local record store? From the hype on front, it looks like there might be three other versions; one for each of the other three Beatles. I was fortunate enough to find the original Beatles Monthly Books (not really books but a mini-size magazine from England). It's interesting to read about the Beatles by someone writing at the time it was all happening. With the benefit of hindsight, it's fascinating to read what was known at the time and the expectations of future events (for them) that we know now either did or didn't happen. These were all reprinted in the eighties and nineties so if you come across any of them, you might check them out. As always, a great video! If you want to do an in-depth showing of some of the magazines, I'm all for it. 🙂
Thank you so much! 😊 Yes, I did get the one with John on it from my local record store-it’s funny you should say that! Ooh, and the Beatles Monthly Magazines are so cute! I’d love to come across one at some point-I think it’s awesome that you’ve got some of them! :-D Thanks again for a lovely comment! It’s always much appreciated! 👍
Aww, thanks! :-) Oh wow, I didn’t know that-how cool! It’s so neat that they could all play more than one instrument-and play it well at that! Thanks for watching!
Paul also plays drums 'n sings backin' vocals on Steve Miller Band-My Dark Hour. If you haven't heard it yet do check it out...rockin' 'n magnificent!@@katiegl
