This song was written by Irene Wawatie Jerome for Grandfather William Commanda's 2002 Circle of All Nations gathering. It is recorded with permission from the Wawatie and Commanda families and the Circle of All Nations Foundation and the Elders in Canada.
This Algonquin Water Song expresses loving gratitude for the water and raises the consciousness and connection of women with Mother Nature’s greatest gift. The song is easy to learn, and our hope is that millions of women will sing it, raising their own connection and awareness of the water they interact with daily even in the shower or at the sink. Sing it 4 times, facing each of the 4 Directions. We believe this is a powerful step to change, leading to both a spiritual as well as environmental shift on our planet.

How interesting to see that "Waabo" (pronounced the same way as "wah bow" in your beautiful language) is also a sufi wasaif (mantra) : one of the 99 "names" of God, that can be translated as "the source of all gifts and creativity springing up from the deepest waters of our soul, bringing to life all potentialities, down like a waterfall from the Source of All" 😏.

I've been singing this song for.a few years now, since I first came across it. I sing it every time I swim in the sea, which is a few times a week. I feel a bond with the Mother, that has grown deeper over that time. I feel blessed to have come across this song a few years ago and now here for the second time, which is beautiful. I hope everyone who sees this video learns this simple song and starts to chant it. Our water is suffering the carelessness of mankind. We need to bless it and over time, you will feel the conscious connection that you have with water. After all we are 75% water ourselves. We are water, its not that water is separate to us.

In spite of some bad people over many years, the Sacred Energies have returned to Mother Earth. She is healing and cleansing herself and her children. We honor she and her life blood, the water, which is also us. People are awakening and turning to the Indigenous Peoples instead of against them. Our Mother is cradling us in her arms when we connect with her is Heart! Thank You from Heart and Thank You Waters and Mother Earth. We need the Councils of Grandmothers again more than ever! Coming from the Ojibway Tribe of Northern Ontario, I was taught by my 85 year old mother to take care of Mother Earth, to respect the land, she’s taught her grandchildren to hug trees because they are alive, but above all to value the water, to keep it clean, to protect it, and not waste it. I know when my mother leaves this earth, she will have left her foot prints on this earth, I follow her teachings....as a nishnabe kwe, we are protectors of water, but I believe as humans we ALL should protect our waters, without it there would be no life..MIIWAY...CHA MIIGWETCH FOR THIS beautiful song, I will sing this once our rivers start flowing

@Atashak Gem My grandmother had died only a few years before this happened. I used to bathe her occasionally in that very bathroom. I believe she is a spiritual ancestor (not just a biological ancestor), and she is especially my true spiritual guide, a woman, a mother. My own mother did not teach me to love. Her mother, my grandmother Flora, was a devout practitioner of Catholicism, and led me by her example, to experience the Rite of Christian Initiation. I took her name, Flora, as a communion name. Later, I encountered Tibetan Buddhism, which has been a powerful and rich practice for 20 years. I believe I have a Karmic Connection especially with her. And water, its purity, has become a focus of my spiritual purpose. (Dams, stagnant water, water table . . . all of it is so political against the poor. What brings you to love of water?

I am so grateful for the Truth of Spirit and the ability to pass it on to my children. We are a miracle, surrounded by miracles. Thank you, Grandmothers 🙇🏻‍♀️ thank you, Spirit for coming through Always and in All Ways 🙏🏼 🌀 ✨ 💜

I was gifted this song in a gathering of women drummers around the big drums two years ago. We entered the circle and were told the history of the song and gifted two white birch sticks which we used as we were shown. We sang to each direction then above below and within then dipped our sticks into the water. It was so deeply felt and I have seen the waters respond. Such a heartfelt prayer and ceremony. Thank you

There has never been a humble apology to my people from USA government for stealing our lands and walking my family, my ancestors to the reservations while 60,000 died on the way. But we humbly let you in to join our sacred ceremony. Pray for your own that continue to lie with stiff necks and money lined pockets to my people. Geo engineering is the white mans rain dance! White man you keep on spraying Aluminum, Borium and Stratnophrium and other toxic chemicals killing the sacred bees and the sacred birds that pollinate our mother Earth! The bush fires in Australia are a direct result of killing the Natives and ignoring the laws of the land that was stolen, building the pipelines with no regard for the effects on life and AGAIN pushing Native Aboriginals to genocide!

The World needs a Pray for the Water Day!
Starting to pray over Flints water and then everywhere its needed worldwide. Like Dr. Emoto's Water, our prayers can change it, from all Faith's, beliefs.

“The water can hear you. The water has memory” ... this statement has been scientifically proven by Dr Masaru Emoto. Research him online it’s fascinating stuff.

I first watched this without sound and then listened to it with the song. The images are so rich and the gift is felt through the grandmothers, the women and children. I just feel so happy watching the video and feeling of everything and everyone in the video connected to their message about what life is about. A beautiful piece of life.

I don’t know why TH-cam decided I needed to see this today, but I’m really grateful for something so wholesome in the middle of a whole lot of pain.
