I'm not sure of what culture or what religion or belief this music is from- All I know is that I just listened to this for the 1st time and my whole body tingled and something inside of me woke up. I feel completely different. I think it spoke to my soul. And I feel such a peace right now, from the inside out. This is an amazing discovery. I will be diving into this for more. I wasnt trying to meditate or anything, I just pushed play to see what it was and it captivated all of me. Thank you for sharing this. It will forever be with me ♡

May the sound of this bell
      penetrate deep into the cosmos.
      Even in the darkest spots,
living beings are able to hear it clearly,
so that all suffering in them ceases.
      Understanding comes to their hearts.
      And they transcend the path
      of sorrow and death.
      The universal dharma door
      is already open.
The sound of the rising tide is heard clearly.
The miracle happens - a beautiful child
appears in the heart of a lotus flower.
One single drop of this compassionate water
is enough to bring back the refreshing spring
      to our mountains and rivers.
      Listening to the bell
I feel the afflictions in me begin to dissolve.
My mind is calm; my body relaxed.
A smile is born on my lips.
Following the sound of the bell
      my breath brings me back
to the safe island of mindfulness.
In the garden of my heart
      the flowers of peace
      bloom beautifully.

Today (16/11/23) would have been my daughter Kate’s 31st birthday. She died of organ failure in 2015. This came up in my feed as it began to rain outside my lorry as l am at work. As the bell rang , my tears joined with the rain and the feeling of loss and suffering felt by infinite beings joined with mine. Thank you Thay for holding my pain so softly here, and passing it back to me so I could care for it. 🙏🙏🙏

Transmitting the energy of this powrrful, timeless prayer to all the victims of the Israel-Palestine war, the Russia - Ukraine war, and all the other wars going on at this time, the visible and not visible ones, the reported and unreported ones; from wars of plenetary scale, to the war between nations and alliances and the spiritual war, the inner jihad that every sentient being might be going through at the present moment.
Praying for peace and love, praying for transcendence and deep healing, praying for wholeness and oneness, on a plenetary and cosmic level.

I have been listening to this since 2006. The first time brought me to tears, a sign of relief of suffering. Occasionally it still brings tears but more so of joy than suffering. The cinematography couldn't be better.

Thank you for sharing the Great Bell Chant with Thich Nhat Hanh and the singing voice of Phap Niem, as recorded on Graceful Passages: A Companion for Living and Dying.
It has been nearly twenty years since Emmy-award winning composer Gary Malkin agreed to join with me in creating Graceful Passages: A Companion for Living and Dying. Featuring Gary's music as a soundtrack behind the voices of Thich Nhat Hanh, Ram Dass, Zalman Schacher, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, and many others, the recording was originally intended for the dying and their families.
Asked the question, 'What would you say to a dying person?', their responses- while arising from different faiths and traditions- speak to the universal heart of humanity. The audience for Graceful Passages includes those embracing their grieving process or recognizing their own mortality as an integral part of their spiritual life. (Special thanks to Doris Laesser Stillwater for her guidance and introducing most of the voices to this project.)
Touching hundreds of thousands around the world, the videos made from the soundtrack have reached even more lives. Thank you for enjoying this expression!
