I've had the same one for almost 2 years I'm a maker so I don't just forge so it's not used everyday, but I use it regularly It's held up pretty good . I just recently had to relign it. Also just to put a point on it I would recommend than Noone watching this should ever run their forge with wool exposed ! It's not just kinda bad for you It's some really really nasty stuff!
Having the same issue with welding in mine. Some videos on TH-cam show folks welding with it but I haven’t figured out how they’re doing it. Mine is about due for its first rebuild also.
I have had mine for a couple of years as well. Prior to that I built 2 others that worked okay. One was from a portable air tank and the other was from a used helium tank. I have never attempted forge welding with mine but from what I understand to have to adjust the burner a certain way. Something to do with the oxygen intake into the forge? For the money they are decent little unit.
I've been a single burner model owner for over two years now, don't have the issues you've mentioned. The refractory cement-did you fully follow the instructions? Correct ratio of water to cement? Cure it in the way listed exactly? Mine never fell apart like yours has, I've done one touch-up to get some K-wool spots recovered. I use mine almost every weekend. Forge welding-are you covering both ends? Wide open like that will never get hot enough for forge welding. Use firebricks to cover one side, and either make a sliding firebrick door or a metal movable door. Gotta trap that heat in.
I followed the directions to the best of my abilities and some of my issues im sure is elevation for the forge welding and humidity on the refractory becoming wore out so fast
I cant seem to get welding temps in mine either. Any other tips to get it hotter in there? Have had mine a little over a year and also had very little break down of the cement. Used the extra that came with the unit recently to seal up a few spots I created trying to fit work in lol

useful info thanks, I looked at these and decided to go with a home build with a bought burner or maybe two.

Great review. I have one that I predominantly use instead of my coal forge. But it does not work when the work does not fit into the narrow width.

@@solidsteelironworks do you cover the open ends of your forge to trap the heat?
I close them

Regardless of the purchase cost, would think a forge being MADE IN OUR USA would have a bit more quality than what that does
