I have my sewing set up in our Livingroom of our one-bedroom. The sewing machine is on a red Ikea 6-drawer metal cabinet. The ironing board is on top of my Mum's 'Martha Washington' sewing cabinet. My table is a large illustration board stretched across the arms of my favourite arm chair. Underneath is about a half foot of space to stored sheets for mock-up's. Looks amazing! Currently sewing out of my apartment dining room too lol, a studio of my own is a dream of mine. Btw subbed for both your personality and the crafts 😸
aw thank you so much that's really sweet! biggest upgrade to my dining room sewing set up was getting a standing table so I didn't have to cut everything on the floor - if you aren't able to upgrade to a separate room definitely recommend getting a tall table, my back felt SO much better after!
Love the color choices for the room, however I think I would have made the green the accent wall, but it came out so pretty. Wish I had a room like that.
For an ironing board, you should use 100% cotton or wool. Polyester will melt and will not hold up. You’ll probably discover this as you use heat and steam on it.
This video is a few months old so I've been using my ironing board every day since I posted! It's been holding up pretty well, it's compressed a bit but I actually wanted that to happen so it's more of a firm squish. I haven't needed to re-cover it yet so if it's all melted when I open it back up I'll give an update
Your new room is wonderful. I'm glad to see you so happy about it. For my taste I would have left the paneling up because I love wood but that's just me. Please hug that pretty little kitty baby for me, she is adorable! Did I see another kitty in the background briefly near the end? Good luck to you in your new studio!
thank you so much! Question!! What is the name of the product you purchased at Home Depot or lowes to create your ironing surface. I am wanting to do the same but I cannot remember the name of the board. Thanks for helping out
it's spelled homasote! it's a fiberboard that's usually used for sound dampening I believe, but pretty much every costume shop I've been in uses it to top tables so you can pin into them! it's kind of like corkboard except that it won't disintegrate like a corkboard will. I got mine at Home depot, unfortunately lowe's doesn't carry it.
@@moth.faerie Thank you :) We don't have home depot or lowe's here and I doubt it is called homasote here either. But atleast I have a starting point now :)
I made it! It's two ikea bookshelves with wheels attached to the bottom for the base, and the top is two sliding doors bolted together with a layer of homasote on top
Wow what an amazing space I’m so jealous lol 😝 I have my sewing stuff in my front room it’s slowly taking over my husband isn’t happy but he loves me and says nothing 🤣
Love it! but I can't believe you are cottage core and you got rid of the turquoise fireplace. I've the dream of stitching in a cozy chair in front of the fire.
Your green walls really eat the light, adding mirrors to the green walls will help reflect more light around the room, kinda trippy how much it helps lol supper pretty though
thanks for the suggestion! haha unfortunately i don't have much wall space left... we also have a ton of trees outside the windows so that's contributing to the lack of light 😅
three of your walls and your doors are painted a very dark color. dark absorbs light instead of reflecting it. that's adding to the darkness of your room. i really like the pink color. the end product is really pretty and so functional looking. i like your decor style. cottagecore/shabby chic has always been my style for decades. i'm a newer subber.
it's actually dark because of all the trees around my studio! now that it's winter and there are no leaves it's very bright, and in the summer even when the walls only had primer it was quite dark. thank you for watching!
Let me tell you the house that I rent out of now has be mouse infested since monsoon season and it’s gross and annoying. So honey if you notice one drop of mouse poop after you cleaned your house, call an Exterminator Immediately!!!
oh nooo that sounds horrible! I'm super paranoid now so I definitely will get it fixed if I see anything! I'm hoping the two cats will scare any mice away 😅
Please read the other comments it is dark bc there are tons of trees outside. It was dark even with the primer, I had to lighten that footage significantly.
Love that retro fireplace!!
Me too!! I would’ve kept it and incorporated the blue into my design.
The way you store your patterns is a great idea! Putting patterns back in their pouch is soo hard!
they never seem to fit back into the little envelopes quite right! at least with the big envelopes it doesn't really matter how i fold them haha

Never mind I found the answer!
What is "homesot"? Or what ever you called it. The board you put on the table.
it's spelled homasote! it's a fiberboard that's usually used for sound dampening I believe, but pretty much every costume shop I've been in uses it to top tables so you can pin into them! it's kind of like corkboard except that it won't disintegrate like a corkboard will. I got mine at Home depot, unfortunately lowe's doesn't carry it.
@@moth.faerie Thank you :) We don't have home depot or lowe's here and I doubt it is called homasote here either. But atleast I have a starting point now :)

Love your new studio! Do you have a link to Costume Symposium?
thank you! You can check out their facebook page for lots of info! facebook.com/CoSy2021/
Where did you get your giant cutting table?
I made it! It's two ikea bookshelves with wheels attached to the bottom for the base, and the top is two sliding doors bolted together with a layer of homasote on top
Hi I stumbled upon your page, can you please tell me the name of the rug you got from Overstock? Thanks April
Wow what an amazing space I’m so jealous lol 😝 I have my sewing stuff in my front room it’s slowly taking over my husband isn’t happy but he loves me and says nothing 🤣
haha thank you, i definitely took up more than my fair share of the previous apartment we lived in
Love it! but I can't believe you are cottage core and you got rid of the turquoise fireplace. I've the dream of stitching in a cozy chair in front of the fire.
I would absolutely have kept it if it were a little less space ship looking haha
@@moth.faerie LOL. I hear you. I was seeing it with more flower garlands. That color, so unusual for a fireplace. Bless the rich hippies.
Dark room because the walls are painted dark green. The space is very large, you are very fortunate, also like your pattern storage system.
It's actually because of all the trees around the house! Now that it's winter and the trees are bare there's a lot more ambient light 😊
three of your walls and your doors are painted a very dark color. dark absorbs light instead of reflecting it. that's adding to the darkness of your room. i really like the pink color. the end product is really pretty and so functional looking. i like your decor style. cottagecore/shabby chic has always been my style for decades. i'm a newer subber.
it's actually dark because of all the trees around my studio! now that it's winter and there are no leaves it's very bright, and in the summer even when the walls only had primer it was quite dark. thank you for watching!
This is amazing but the real reason I’m commenting is cuz WE HAVE THE SAME CHILDHOOD DESK
STUDIO TOUR
Aaah haha I'm glad so many people are into the idea! Maybe I'll do a tour after spooky season when I've cleaned up some of my mess 😅
The dark green walls are darker than the paneling
they're not in person
It feels dark because of the dark walls
Let me tell you the house that I rent out of now has be mouse infested since monsoon season and it’s gross and annoying. So honey if you notice one drop of mouse poop after you cleaned your house, call an Exterminator Immediately!!!
oh nooo that sounds horrible! I'm super paranoid now so I definitely will get it fixed if I see anything! I'm hoping the two cats will scare any mice away 😅
Dark because of dark paint.
Please read the other comments it is dark bc there are tons of trees outside. It was dark even with the primer, I had to lighten that footage significantly.
OMG I CANT WAIT UNTIL I HAVE A SPACE WITH A DOOR SO I CAN CLOSE OFF THE WORLD AND JUST ZONE IN ON MY SEWING. !!
