Such a beautiful car! Many celebrities owned these, including Peter Fonda. The Facel Vega has long been a favorite of mine, and I can't thank you enough for this post, which is chock full of stunning examples and brimming with information. This was very well done and a joy to watch!

Thank you, as always. My understanding is that the handling on these could be a bit unpredictable, particularly on the more power versions. But the look has always drawn me in.

@@thehopelesscarguy My grandmother owned a 1960 HK500 from new, until her death in 2001. It was always a stunner in the garage, though she only took it out once or twice per year. In the mid 90s, she handed the car to her mechanic who she said had a facility to do proper long-term storage - which she would pay for. After her death we went to see the car. She'd been ripped off, as I had feared. The car was shoved in the back of a hanger, unprotected, severe rust had set in and rodents had had a field day on the interior. We basically sold it as a parts car to a collector in Holland. Very sad.

Very surprising! I will now check who designed their cars. The initials designs resemble early-mid 60s US cars ten years ahead of time. Facel them reversed time by adding fins.

Fantastic as always! I love these cars like their English cousin, the Jensen Interceptor. Interesting body with an American V8. If I only had extra money.

would it be possible to do the Italian Brand "Iso".. The 61 Facel HK500 & 1966 Iso Grifo are my favourites, both sounding as beautiful as they look. Head turners even in today's world

Really elegant and it would have set the owner well apart from the Jaguar and Mercedes crowd.

One has to remember that HP ratings back in those days were kinda bogus. They were measured on the test bed with all accessories disconnected. Even coolant was pumped electrically. The big HP sucker was the fan. Back then, mechanically driven, no fluid coupling.

Even long after the switch to net ratings companies were known to fudge their numbers, in both directions.

@@frequentlycynical642 Usually it was so it would fit into a specific category for regulations, racing, or insurance. Also there have been "gentleman's agreements" on horsepower caps in some markets so anything that exceeded the cap was usually rated at the cap.
