Please stop eliminating cars one by one. Put them all through all the tests.
This. Just because they don’t like the driving position in the Peugeot doesn’t mean we all don’t.
Also just upload the entire video at once instead of annoying parts. Since they're all years old anyways, what's the point 🤷♂️
Agreed. Eliminating one by one doesn't seem like a fair assessment criteria. Yeah, I know, I sound like a nerd!
Could not agree more these tests are rubbish as the testers want what they want not ehat consumers want and what if someone wants a slower car or 1 with a little less space so what the consumers will pick what their cash goes on
In other car shows, they'd take the cars through all the tests, and compare the results in the end (on a whiteboard, with some silly scores added to the mix).
You know you're doing it seriously wrong when even Clarkson, Hammond, and May's methodology is more scientifically accurate than yours! 🙄 At least CH&M are honest when they're introducing bias ("I know this car is better, but I prefer that one. And on that bombshell...")
The Octavia was the obvious winner from the start, given its price and practicality.
Every time I come to get a new car I think "It won't be another Octavia VRS estate." Then I look at the alternatives and inevitably end up with another Octavia VRS estate.

Better than a VRS only a normal one. VRS is a good car with bad bits added.

It takes 20 seconds to set the seat and steering wheel on Peugeots to see the dials perfectly over the top of the wheel. These guys didn't bother to do that.
Yeah no :p drove today the one from the company. You need to play a lot around to actually see the whole screen :/

@@Aphorism89 Had mine setup in... yeah, about 20 seconds. And it was the same for the 2 courtesy cars over the last 2 years. Sit down, set seat to comfort then adjust wheel. Childsplay
I am one of those people that loves their steering wheels as high as they can be. I don't have any problem with having my new peugeot's steering wheel low down, even tho I still make any other in any other car as high as it can go.

The second I saw the 508 in the line up, I knew they would dismiss it for arbitrary reasons. And I was not disappointed. They are badge snobs and can't allow a Peugeot to be better than the badge snob favourites.
The VW was louder than the Peugeot. The instrument proved it. But because they FELT it wasn't, that was alright? Not really a fair test then, is it? If you arbitrarily change the goal posts.
It takes about a minute, maybe 30 seconds to adjust the driving position and wheel in the 508. They just didn't bother because they were not going to give the 508 a fair go anyway. Calling it louder than the VW, despite evidence to the contrary just proves the bias.
A proper test relies on repeatable metrics. You test ALL cars the same way and score them on the same metrics. Arbitrarily deciding on a personal hate or love is not a proper test.
I like the Peugeot's exterior, it does look quirkyly interesting. But the interior? Sorry, not a fan.

Ngl, I'm totally impressed with the Skoda. It may be the shortest and yet it has the biggest boot and faster than a BMW. It's mind blowing! 🤯🤯
Really surprised by the Skoda, really goes to show how BMW has completely disregarded weight in the last 5 years.
At the end of the day, for the price you pay, Skoda wins hands down and for those of you who are old enough(like significant greying or baldness)would ever have thought they would buy a skoda after seeing the 100 or 110. Love my 4x4 Superb estate

They eliminated the 508 over an opinion they didn't like the steering position, but the Arteon was the noisiest based on facts, but they got rid of the 508 instead. Makes no sense. The Arteon should've been first out.

Sorry jason, you cocked up the lap time of the bmw. You did the lap with 242bhp not 292. You have to engage Xboost to get the full 292 and it lasts for 10 seconds.

To find the best car , all test need to done by all cars, some excel in one thing & not others for each model
But they did it correctly here...
@@lukabosnjak3829 no they didn't. They used personal thoughts and bias and eliminated cars before continuing with other tests.
@@bmused55 With wat, peugeot will start to fall apart with time unfortunately and didn't drive as well, most importantly arteon is huge and has smaller boot and less space than skoda with exactly the same parts under the bonnet so no point either.
Bmw is much more expensive and even lost on track so clear win for the skoda in everything.

Never paid more than 10k for a car,
And always moved them on for not too much money lost,
Buy used,
A couple of years or even up to 5 years old cars,
They are pretty much as good as new.

Agreed. I have one, albeit the GT Fastback, non hybrid. It blows anyone's mind who gets in it. I got it detailed by a local expert who gets work from Porsche, Ferrari and even Bentley owners. He picked it up and dropped it off for me. Told me that if he had been in it with the badges removed and without knowing it was a peugeot, he could have sworn he was in a £50K plus premium brand car.
Peugeot have really turned a corner and doing good work.
The steering wheel is perfectly fine for long relaxing driving. If your drives are not relaxing then please don’t drive at all and get into your chesterfield sofa that’s stuck in your staircase. Besides the Peugeot seats are one of the best in category. The noise? It was 69 db, like the other two and one was louder so what was your point? And it has a great amount of space, like the others. As for the driving test, many motor journalists gave it a positive score. Not that is something to write home about it but very decent. And then the exterior design is the nicest of the bunch. Sorry not sorry but you failed the test and get a F (grade) not just by me.

They are badge snobs and just could not allow a Peugeot to get any further than last place against all those badge snob favourites.
A proper test would have all cars go through the same tests and be marked on exactly the same measures, not an arbitrary and personal dislike of something.

It’s not really a fair test when you decide the winner from the start. Why did the BMW not get multiple runs and why was it stated that it wasn’t being driven flat out?
Skoda is a super car but this is more of an advertisement than a true comparison.

on one hand, this Canadian is shaking his fist at the heavens that we don't have such a selection of wagons, let alone hybrid wagons, here in north america...
On the other hand, i've got a deposit down on a V60 T8, which conveniently isn't being tested here, so i don't have to see my buying decision questioned x)
How much did Skoda paid for this comparison? It looks kind of rigged, especially in the last round where the 330 doesn't look like being pushed to the max.
Just made the test myself and indeed Octavia is faster and very easy to drive.

I don't understand their methodology... They eliminate cars one by one based on some random criteria? So let's say you have a very good car but you judge it on its one weak point at the beginning, so it gets eliminated in the first round? That makes absolutely no sense!
Maybe they had their verdict sorted before even editing the video, but the way they present it is really bad. I'm sorry, but that's one DISLIKE from me (sounds unfair? Well, not nearly as unfair/biased as their methodology for choosing a car...)

@@stoicapetruliviu8840 Ok, then why not start with price and eliminate the BMW from the get-go? Why start with interior design. which is highly subjective? (e.g. "I don't like wood in a car... Oh wait, actually I remember I don't care, as long as it's not a Peugeot" 🙄). Their approach is biased: change the criteria, and the results can be widely different.
Why not simply run the cars through all the criteria and then decide? (or let the audience decide for themselves).
All depends on which manufacturer paid the most for them to feature their car ;)

1st test too subjective. 2nd has sense but execution isn't serious. 3 test useless. Makes no sense what so ever. You can't say a car isn't good if you don't like how sit in it.

Peugeot actually sent a few 508s over to the USA as they had planned to start selling it there. I've seen video of people getting in it and looking around, everyone was surprised by its looks and its quality. Many said they'd buy one if they could. Don't discount it just because it is French.
