No matter what anyone says about grace kelly .the fact is she was one of the worlds most beautiful women..and a very good actor....i think she made a big mistake marrying prince Rainier...she became royal by marrying him, no grace was already a queen in the eyes of the world.....

I guess I saw in following the British Royal Family a monarch who was raised to believe that he was someone who was above everyone in the world and starting with his wife the Monarchy and the pressure to protect it at all costs is more important that the personal hopes and dreams of the individual member of Royal households. It is only later
generations that find women have individual goals, dreams, ambitions.
But if Grace Kelly and other women of that generation ignite and remind us all that women have much to offer. They started the pressure of the First wave of feminism that many of us benefited from. Prince Albert treats his wife badly 😞. They both live in Monaco but Princess Charlene lives in her own apartment and she supposedly visits her children everyday all day. There are some rumors that Albert pays her to stay in the marriage. Charlene and Albert are probably separated like princess Caroline and Prince Ernest her German husband. I'm guessing that Charlene refuses to sleep in the Grimaldi Palace with Prince Albert as most of the time they appear somewhat tense. In the mid 1970's Princess Grace lived in her Paris apartment with Caroline and Stephanie to get away from her husband Prince Rainier and Grace would return to Monte Carlo for important events only.

One thing I must give Rainier credit for is that he knew and understood building and creating and real estate etc.. I speak from first hand because I was there a few years before COVID hit and Rainier really modernized Monaco! When Grace first married Rainer she was embarrassed that Monaco was just a small tin pot nation. Grace set about getting funds for everything. Unfortunately she admitted in an interview that the people of Monaco never accepted her or liked her. Sad. I enjoyed my brief time there and I highly recommend it.

They are royal children so they would remain with their country and their father who is the head of Monaco. Grace would only have visitation rights. Grace however did follow princess Caroline to Paris when Caroline was a university student and they took an apartment together and they found a local school for princess Stephanie who was very young. Caroline probably resented this because she wanted her freedoms and her friendships but Grace was worried that Caroline would be as wild as she was. Caroline heard many stories about Grace from her Hollywood days. Albert remained in Monaco with his father Prince Rainier to finish up his education and then went off to The United States for Amherst College. Grace admitted to the media "this is our version of a divorce". She returned to Monaco only for a few necessary events. I was in Monaco and I highly recommend it but every street is very narrow with heavy pedestrian traffic. The Royal Palace is pretty and Grace's grave site is very pretty also and it's located in St. Nicholas Cathedral where Rainier and Grace were married in 1956.

I was in Monaco and every souvenir shop I went to had NOTHING on Princess Grace. I think Rainier didn't want her to be exploited.

@456inthemix. Grace admitted to a close friend that she regretted taking her mothers advice. Supposedly, her mother told her to dump Oleg Cassini because he was divorced twice. Grace probably regretted marrying Rainier because they weren't compatible and especially since it didn't work out and she really missed Cassini. Grace Kelly met Joe Kennedy, Sr for lunch one day with a friend of hers and Kennedy flew at Grace correcting her on dumping Cassini! Grace was embarrassed in front of her friend and Kennedy was appalled that an Irish/Catholic would even think of marrying Cassini. Needless to say the lunch went badly 😔😔. Grace always seemed to be a social climber and I think she may have learned this from her mother! Grace wanted Prince Charles to meet Caroline. They did but it didn't work out - in the pictures taken they didn't even look at each other for more than two seconds. Grace didn't like the royal life so why would she push Caroline towards Charles? I believe that as a European man, Prince Ranier was dictatorial in his family life, including with his wife. I doubt that she honestly would have called it a happy marriage. How they could have Wed without a prior understanding on such things as her acting career, is impossible to understand. And the fact that her philanderer son, Prince Albert, is unwilling to fill in the blanks of his parents’ lives together, is a further hint that there were some tough times for Grace!

Princess Caroline gave an interview about two years ago stating that she hardly ever was with her mother, Princess Grace. She said that her and her brother, Prince Albert were raised by their nanny and only wanted to be with her. Grace slept all day and was a night time person. Caroline also stated that Grace and Rainer never ate with their children. The first time Caroline had a meal with her mother she was 14 years old. A friend of mine was in the United States Navy and he was docked in Monte Carlo and the crew members were all excited to meet GRACE KELLY and he had his camera with him and he was supposed to be introduced to her and Rainier but they never appeared! The crew was very disappointed. Grace and Rainer went off to a party that they were suddenly invited to!! Out of the blue walks out 14 year old Caroline to accept some award for her mother because the arrogant and irresponsible Grace was a no show! The men wanted to see Grace Kelly not her 14 year old daughter!! Grace would also take the three children out and pose with them for the front covers of magazines just to use the royal family as magazine fodder. Phones rang all day long and people came and went but Grace supposedly was not to be disturbed. Fast forward to the next generation and Albert and Caroline and Stephanie are much more hands on with their children and more involved.
I wonder if Grace wasn't suffering from depression. I saw the videos that she made not long before her death and she talks in depth about her life. Being a Royal is not anything like what the public might perceive. She had to learn a new language and take on an entire new life for the people of Monaco to accept her. She said being a Princess was a very lonely and isolated life. She really missed acting a great deal. There was almost a solemn look about her and she said she didn't want people to remember her for her looks but rather for her causes and the work she did. I'm not going to be too quick too judge this woman after watching that video content (you should check it out). I think she had a lot of regrets and there was such a sadness about her. I think SHE elevated Monaco in the world's eye and not the other way around. Interesting that Albert's wife seems so unhappy in her marriage as well.
@@Diana-yk7sp Hello Diana 😊. You have a lot of good points here. Grace put Monaco on the world map. Grace elevated Monaco indeed!! Rainier however knew her Hollywood friends would visit Monte Carlo. Grace was drinking heavily as the years went by and ran up tremendous phone bills to talk to her family here in Philadelphia and also friends in California but she was very lonely and unfulfilled and she was detached as a mother and wife. Her husband and all his affairs were getting to Grace and her growing children were becoming more wild than she could handle, and the Monegasques couldn't stand Princess Disgrace. Her looks and her family life here in Philadelphia were going and her overweight was difficult to handle. Grace missed her friends and some betrayed her with interviews. Yes Grace greatly regretted marrying Rainier. I read this many many times. She was no longer in Hollywood acting and that upset her too. Grace was having many affairs herself 😞😞. Emotionally and mentally she seemed depressed and disappointed. Nope, I should not listen to another video on Grace Kelly. I just like to share what I know 😊😊. She literally could have had any man in the world that could have given her the life she wanted while maintaining her career and she chose Rainier. Grace must have been mad 😡😡 at Alfred Hitchcock for coining the phrase Princess Disgrace on her. She slept all day and partied at night. Grace sped up her own aging process unfortunately. Again Grace resented taking her mothers advice to marry Rainier. She should have married Oleg Cassini and Oleg Cassini warned her about getting into a royal family! No, her teenage daughter drove. She was legally too young to drive, but likely wanted to practice, and it went wrong. I believe the guilt over her accident caused Stephanie more trouble, she acted out, tried drugs and 4 years later tried to be a popstar. Not kidding, she can't sing, no talent, but the pure fact of a singing royal brought her a short singing career in 1986.

Two million dollar "dowery" to Prince Rainier? Doweries, by tradion, are paid by the brides family to the groom. The bride was not expected to provide the dowery herself. In addition, she was permitted to bring with her a "chest" filled with dresses and valuables.And she had a right to make use of her dowery to pay her own living expenses and puchases. Although it legally belonged to her husband, tradition reuired that he allow his wife free access to these funds. Did Prince Rainier respect this tradition?

@@albgardis I disagree because I honestly don't think that Grace would have permitted her under aged daughter to take the steering wheel and have control over that winding road. I was in Monaco a few years ago and it did indeed feel too curvy. I was not the driver - the tour bus navigated those turns very well!! Grace knew that Stephanie didn't even have her driver's license yet and Stephanie was seated in the passenger seat. Again, I can't believe that Grace would have allowed Stephanie to drive 😞😞. So sad.

What's missing in the Grace Kelly saga is that y'all are comparing her to Disney princesses of that era. Maintaining the Royal aura and being an ongoing inspiration to her people on a shoestring budget is NOT an ability to be sneered at. I say only three things are keeping her from being a Psalm 82 grade warrior princess. These are:
1. She ded with heels on, not spurs.
2. Her final journey ran among mountains of lesser stature than the Sierra Madres or the Sangre de Christos.
3. She never displayed legendary weapon skills. The closest she came was when the Sovereign Military Order of Malta awarded her Dame Grand Cross of the Order of Merit ... but only Special Class, which is for civilians. By contrast, her older daughter Caroline, Princess of Hanover, is a Knight of the Order of Saint George, and her younger daughter, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco (who survived injuries suffered during her mother's death ride) is a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Grimaldi.

Grace seemed very uncomfortable 😖🥵 with that question ❓❓❓ but she did her best to explain that it was a custom and a tradition. No one bought it. I saw the interview a few years ago because it resurfaced. The truth is something like - her father put one million up and Grace put the other one million up. There was one "condition" to this "dowry thing" and that is that when Mr. Kelly dies Grace doesn't get any money from his Will. She had to basically forfeit her inheritance. Grace agreed....

The Kelly Mansion ( we Philadelphia folk call it The Estate ) is only 3 miles from me and every generation here has heard this pathetic story. Grace did answer questions but again Mr Kelly did put his foot down with Grace and insisted Grace chip in. Ma Kelly was probably embarrassed 😞 for her daughter yet she did push Grace into this marriage. Mrs Margaret Kelly was a social climber too. Decades later Grace admitted that she regretted taking her mother's advice. Grace was in love with Oleg Cassini but her Irish/Catholic family was furious and embarrassed to have Cassini in the family!! Grace must have really loved him and missed him. Grace and Rainer ended up just USING each other. She wanted a title and Rainier wanted Monaco on the world map which Grace did by bringing so many Hollywood performers to Monte Carlo.
