This reminds me of my mother's Taiwanese rice bowl 'Rou Zao Fan' which is braised minced pork over rice. It contains lots of fried shallots. She would always make it for me. 😋
I was worried until I saw Miku with the blackberry at the end. I cook Thai 4-5 times a week. (Khao Pad Gai, my favorite, Pad Krapow Gai, and either Gaeng Panang Gai or Gaeng Ped Gai. All Ped Mak Mak. (you can see, I love chicken as protein, and my cat "Phaddington" is still sleeping quite contently in the corner.... He is not gone missing ;))

You made a very delicious Pad Kra Pao that is one of Thailand's most famous stir fried dishes, and for good reason. It is quick and easy to make, but the resulting flavors are out of this world! Miku is very cute ❤ as well as bamboo plate. Great video as always 👍😃

It's summer in Australia so its a bit of a storm season. Yes this holy basil is very hard to find, I looked everywhere but I always use Thai basil and my local restaurants also use it! You could grow holy basil from some seeds bought online tho

This week I have been sleeping on the floor in my room😂 I have freedom to move now and have no need to catch the tram in the city where i live but walk everywhere to get my food😊

@@lookcatchu in Melbourne at the Asian grocery store I can buy it's like a ice cube tray full of herbs like basil grown in Thailand they are frozen and you add it at the end of cooking Also frozen banana leaves instead of waxed paper for your beautiful plate 🍌

How to pick one thing that's my favorite Thai food is nearly impossible, lol. The other problem is I don't know what they are called but one of my favs is a sour coconut soup. The other is a stir fried eggplant dish. I so wish I knew what these dishes are called. Just love Thai food so much.

Fish sauce is important and No shallot, We used only Galic😢 about sauce Fish sauce, oyster sauce, Cooking sauce base on soy sauce (Green Cap, when you bought from Thai Store)
I'm Thai and this is definitely not thai basil stir fry ,i mean if you eat in thailand. But if you can't find the ingredients in ur country, it's ok. First of all, thai stir-fried basil doesn't use shallots. Just chilli and garlic is enough. And for the basil leaves that you use. In Thailand we call โหระพา (ho-ra-pa) is completely different from Thai basil. Especially the smell is completely different. It's an easy menu that can be prepared in less than 5 minutes, and I make it often. It has many different seasonings but for me just fish sauce, a little soy sauce for color and a little sugar is enough. Ps. the key to this menu is the fire must be strong and for Street food style 1. little oil 2 Meat 3 Chili and garlic 4 Seasoning 5 Thai basil leaves and done thank you for loving Thai food. Hope you will make new menus soon.😊

well, if I ever win the lottery, Bangkok here i come, but I've never had "any" Thai food that I'm aware of.. we do have a Thai food truck here in town but haven't had a chance to partake.

@@lookcatchu Not gonna lie, nobody told me about them. I even used the normal glass lid once, which made things even worst (condensation on the lid dripped back into the oil). Eventually I saw those mash splatter guards in a shop and I slapped my forehead so hard it was red for a week XD
You need to get yourself one of them thar splatter screens for the fryin' pan! Helps to prevent you from wearing boiling hot grease all over your face. 😎
@@lookcatchu Its a screen on a handle. Looks kind of like a tennis racket with a screen on it. You just plop that on top of your frying pan while you cook, and voilà ! No splishy splashy of grease! Just Google "Klockren splatter screen" to see what I mean. That's Ikea's brand but its the same sort of thing I use here.

@@lookcatchu Butter pats and sugar on top.. sometimes I will mix the butter and sugar in the rice cooker after it's done.. but I also like to sprinkle sugar on when it's on my plate for the texture. Many eat it this way.. I like my rice to be a bit wet still. I don't like dry, separated rice.

I've tried this dish twice now and both times my pork mixture comes out light brown in colour and doesn't smell like pad kra pow... This time I used more sauces to make sure the dark colour comes through but no! Never again lol

NIGL! yes it's quite rare, but according to a viewer, they found frozen holy basil cubes in their supermarket. i have yet to come across it though

well, if I ever win the lottery, Bangkok here i come, but I've never had "any" Thai food that I'm aware of.. we do have a Thai food truck here in town but haven't had a chance to partake.

@@lookcatchu Not gonna lie, nobody told me about them. I even used the normal glass lid once, which made things even worst (condensation on the lid dripped back into the oil). Eventually I saw those mash splatter guards in a shop and I slapped my forehead so hard it was red for a week XD
You need to get yourself one of them thar splatter screens for the fryin' pan! Helps to prevent you from wearing boiling hot grease all over your face. 😎

@@lookcatchu Its a screen on a handle. Looks kind of like a tennis racket with a screen on it. You just plop that on top of your frying pan while you cook, and voilà ! No splishy splashy of grease! Just Google "Klockren splatter screen" to see what I mean. That's Ikea's brand but its the same sort of thing I use here.

@@lookcatchu Butter pats and sugar on top.. sometimes I will mix the butter and sugar in the rice cooker after it's done.. but I also like to sprinkle sugar on when it's on my plate for the texture. Many eat it this way.. I like my rice to be a bit wet still. I don't like dry, separated rice.

I've tried this dish twice now and both times my pork mixture comes out light brown in colour and doesn't smell like pad kra pow... This time I used more sauces to make sure the dark colour comes through but no!
