There shouldn't be one. We should teach them education, not sexuality. It's not the schools job to teach that, especially a third grade teacher.

Yes, sound off. Good for parents for standing up. Schools are trying to sneak all this in. It's not reading, writing or arithmetic.

The key here is that schools need to notify parents and get parents permission. Aren’t they legally required to do so?

honestly as a lgbt person,, elementary school is just too early for this like yeah teach them to respect people, but they shouldn’t actually teach students everything about lgbt stuff until like middle school or high school 😭

Sounds ignorant to me, kids start developing crushes and dating between the ages of 10-13, which starts around 3rd grade. Children should be taught they are loved for who they are and that love isn't something to be ashamed of. This isn't a sex-ed club, it's an acceptance club.

@@TransmentalMe Your comment sounds ignorant to me. So, Muslim children should be taught such curriculum? You're a Islamophobe. We live in a pluralistic society.

The UK is ahead of us on "trans rights", and the data shows we should leave kids out of it. Unfortunately, in California, schools are all about pushing the social contagion that is leaving life long disabilities in children.

Elementary school is too early. Adults can do what they want but these are babies. I got in trouble for telling my first grade class Santa and the Easter Bunny are fake (because my mom didn't lie & my classmates couldn't handle the truth, lol).
Anyway, I'd bet the teacher is gay. And that's his business, but I had to get a permission slip signed to participate in sex ed in 5th grade.

Kids are exposed to heterosexual relationships all the time, and they're fine. They can learn about other types of relationships and be fine. It's adults who can't handle the complexity of life.

yes, but who decides what happens during school hours? This is the parental rights issue that isn't being addressed here. If teachers aren't being transparent about what's going on, especially in cases like this, it does nothing and drives division and mistrust between teacher, student, and parent. Is this the hill you, as the teacher, are willing to die on? If so, that suggests your priorities as a teacher may be different from the parents, and causes the division that puts kids in the center.

Testimonies show that the club was marketed to children as a secret club for boys who like boys and girls who like girls where they played secret games that they couldn't tell their parents about. Would you be okay with that for your 8 year old child if it was a club for boys who like girls and vice versa? Funnily enough many of the people with loud voices on what is apparently okay for children conveniently don't have or will never have their own children
