I like Mario's disco suit is based off his fire flower color palette, implying disco Mario is on fire or at least bringing some heat to the dance floor!
So if you look up Mike Mareen, who was a more prolific Italo Disco singer/writer, that is most likely the inspiration for Mario, and your interpretation is probably the only reason why the suit in both isn't identical.
It's crazy how far Mario has come, from provincial plumber to international respected and acclaimed dj No but seriously why do these work so well? I mean, the second is perfect

So fun fact most of the German studios that put out the ultrahits in the dance scenes in the 90s were making stuff like this during the 80s. While there's not many people with hits in both eras, people who were in a similar space in the 80s include the two guys who made a lot of the music for Cascade, the people who helped the two members of Captain Jack make their music, the producer for Haddaway and La Bouche, Culture Beat, Le Click, Novaspace, Paffendorf of YT fame, Real McCoy, Snap!, Sash, Scooter (so technically this is nightcore's grandaddy), ATC, and U96, which was one of the first to bring 80s to 90s dance. Also the chorus of Everytime We Touch is actually from a soft rock song ( Everytime We Touch - Maggie Reilly - 1992 ) which is still so weird to me.

The Inclusion of Chill from Dr. Mario with hints of Billie Jean is such an inspired Choice. Like of all the Mario Songs that fit perfectly in the style of Disco but hardly ever get remixed you picked the perfect one and gave it the marvelous treatment it deserves.
@@L0rdOfThePies It's more that the Italian market was 10 years too late to disco since they didn't do much disco so they only got into it when the 80s came around. So between them and the Germans who were more musically on top of things, especially with synthesizer music, there was a mass amount of synthpop/"new wave" made for the Italian market that was super-mega-ultra cheesy, which is why very little of it made it outside that market bar people who like synth cheese on Spotify and some viral oddities like Camel by Camel (sold to this market but the author/writer is Eastern European) which more got famous because of the animation it was paired with. Italo Disco was the training ground for people like Dave Rodgers and Giorgio Moroder (who wrote most the synth songs/parts for Donna Summer [inc Hot Stuff, Love to Love You Baby and all of I Feel Love] and wrote all or most of 8 really well-known 80s songs [ Call Me by Blondie, Take my Breath Away by Berlin, Together in Electric Dreams by The Human League, Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins, Flashdance (What a Feeling) by Irene Cara, and Neverending Story by Limahl] so even with the weird cheese it has been a net positive.
