I Tried to play this while I was in High School.....trust me I was and you people would have ripped me apart if we have TH-cam in the 70's.....but at least I tired! Anyone who thinks this is easy I've got a word for you.....NOT!!!!!! I leaned on a 4 manual Skinner organ with an echo organ.....and I could do a basic church service....but damn it was hard....I guess I don't have the touch. I studied with a lady that that just did everything and never even tought about it....I love the music.

questo splendido brano di Handel è veramente eseguito in maniera superba; anche l'audio è perfetto, cosa molto difficile, trattandosi di musica d'organo.
Sur l'enregistrement des deux volumes en double albums des 16 Concertos pour Orgue et Orchestre de Haendel réalisé en 1962 dans l'église Notre Dame du Liban à Paris pour le label Erato par Marie Claire Alain à l'Orgue et l'Orchestre de Jean François Paillard, l'orgue utilisé était un positif transportable de concert de Haepfer-Ermann et non ce grand orgue probablement néerlandais qui sert d'illustration à la vidéo. Hommage à la mémoire de Marie Claire Alain cette grande Dame de l'Orgue.
Un'edizione un po' datata ma ancora valida dei Concerti per organo e orchestra di Händel. Marie-Claire Alain ne dà un'interpretazione sobria e vivace, in contrasto con la magniloquenza allora diffusa. Allegro e Andante dal Concerto op.4, n.4.
I love the orchestra, the sound of the organ, and the interpretation, but does it seem only to me that (in the first tempo) sometimes the organist slows down without control of tempo? To me some trillos also seem to "stop", lacking rhythm... Maybe it's my ignorance, but this is the effect these details made to my ear. One of my favorite executions nonetheless.
I understand what you mean but I get the impression that the tempo is fine. I guess each musician has his own style of embellishments and here Alain has a "relaxed" approach to the trill. Though I prefer Karl Richter's, this execution is excellent.

This recording was released on ERATO some three decades ago. Marie Claire Alain set the standard in my opinion.
