Surprises that you didn't put Harley killing millions of children or Joker killing the parents of some children to see how many of them would become batman
Yeah thats awesome. Everyone expects to hear the big twist and then have it stopped. To learn he was filling them in after it was already done? Brilliant. Finally a "bad guy" who paid attention to the evil overlords handbook.
I have always had an issue with the "The entire planet transforms into *blank*" plot lines. When Mordred wished all the adults away, how many children died in plane and car accidents or when their mother was holding them or even giving birth? When in Dr. Who everyone transformed into the Master did that include children? Did pregnant women suddenly have a fully grown man in their wombs? In Kingsmen, how many people slaughtered their own children? For that last one I admit I have not watched the sequel because the first was so good I did not want to see how they "fixed" the world in a couple of years.
That was one of my problems with Thanos... how many beings are going to die because you removed half of the population? You didn't just erase half buddy... you went over that. Also... Dr. Strange... just make one of those portal things and SHOVE HIS HEAD THROUGH IT! Problem solved.
Feel free to watch Kingsman 2 they don’t really give a crap about any explanation of the first movie, if I recall right they don’t even try. It’s a good bit of mindless fun with top notch action set pieces
Apparently they either: Got fed up of people telling them that there's more than DC & Marvel... ...or ran out of new ideas from both... My money is on the latter.
I mean strictly speaking, the reason why the clock was so close to midnight in the comics was because the US had Dr Manhattan win the Vietnam war, effectively making the Cold War a much warmer war...
Depends on whether you lived in the one the hreoes' resident cities - I imagine life being a lot quieter and safer for you if you didn't live in New York City, Metropolis, Gotham, Star City, etc. Not that you'd have perfect safety from supervillains, they do occasionally realize they'd have an easier time of it away from a hero's resident city - at least until said hero tracks them down. Then you're running and screaming from the classic superhero-supervillian battle anyway, on top of dealing with whatever mayhem the villain caused before the hero showed up.

6:55 I love Death Note, the only part I never liked was when Light killed Naomi. For me it felt like one of those “wrong place wrong time” deaths, and she actually seemed like a good character.
I feel like it poses reassurance that Light, as a protagonist, still shouldn't be idolized as "righteous". Light gets posed as a genius protagonist that you want to cheer for or even admire. However, the manga makes sure you fully understand through those more incorrigible actions that he shouldn't be totally revered for his flawed sense of righteousness. At the end of the day, he's a mentally ill kid who got too high a kick off of his God Status.
I would argue the Red Skull has done much worse things to normal people than what he did in The End. Just his background should be enough, he is fine with experimenting on humans after all. But I could hold up an example from the Ultimate Universe where the Red Skull (son of the original, I think) has a beef with someone... so he has his thugs sexually assault the guy's girlfriend and throws his new born child out of of a 3rd floor window. The world of Mark Millar.
for watchmen, the argument “we still managed to survive nuclear armageddon without his help” is invalid. we don’t live in a world where doctor manhattan exists. the whole point of the story is that the russians felt threatened by him and were arming themselves with nuclear weapons. so ozymandias destroyed new york and convinced the us and the russians to put aside their differences and work together against a commen threat... did you even read the series?
The funny thing is, he's technically right but for the complete opposite reason. It was shown in Doomsday Clock that despite what Ozy did, world peace only lasted a few years before the same old problems started up again, and eventually nuclear war happened anyway. Ozy wasn't wrong because the threat of nuclear war was so LOW that what he did was pointless, he was wrong because the threat of nuclear war was so HIGH that what he did was pointless. But yeah besides that you're 100% right, and the guy in the video completely misunderstood Watchmen and what makes Ozymandias such a great "villain".
Also in the real world we haven't avoided nuclear war, we've just managed to put it off for a while so far. The odds of our getting through another century without a nuclear exchange are slim. Nothing ever ends, indeed ...
Should've included Plutonian's genocide of Singapore (among *many* of his atrocities) in Irredeemable or even Kid Miracleman's slaughter spree in London in Miracleman #15.

Only they’re still alive and “programmed” to in unison greet him as a talking painting. That’s so beyond Human Centipede. It should be on this list
You can't really have a manga character on a list of comic book villains. There are a lot of manga/anime antagonists who've done way, *way* worse things to ordinary people than Light making an innocent woman commit suicide.

To be fair to Ozymandias, we got so close to nuclear war at one point that the actions of 2 russian men stopped a nuclear war... twice... once in 1962 during the cuban missle crisis (Vasily Arkhipov refused to authorize the captains use of a nuclear torpedo against the US Navy blockading cuba) and again in 1983 (Stanislav Petrov who was in charge of an early warning system for a nuclear attack, when it suddenly went off, and instead of following procedures, dismissed it correctly as a false alarm) Either incident could have ended in the death of billions and sent whatever remnants of humanity remained back into the stone age. We got unfathomably lucky cooler heads prevailed.
The argument that Ozymandius was right because our world is fine doesn't really make sense. Our world already came dangerously close to nuclear war at least once (the story with Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov).
