It looks really good in this black-on-black spec. I personally still need to get used to the nose / kidneys. Especially in case of the iX, with the glass grille, which looks like a grille from a distance, but is actually a print. It covers all the sensors.

@@NickKouidis the whole car looks like it's plastic. The hole bmw fell into. Only the 5 series still looks good (perhaps 8 too, and the x5 before it got the latest facelift), everything else is gone.
For example audi still looks like audi, and mercedes too. Also toyota etc....this is mad

Just bought this car today. Wasn’t planning on this option, but the car has the bronze titanium package which means front grill and trim are all in bronze titanium. Wife thinks it a bit too much bling of ghetto, but makes my car standout from all the other Ix 50’s out there.
Love the Bronze Titanium package, bold choice!
What I hate about these new electric cars is the design is so minimalist and spaced out it looks like they got cheap, but sell it as being green and futuristic
depends how you look at it, many would say the 'clutter' is gone
It’s weird - they do look minimalist but then the control stations look cluttered, clunky and not uniform... the seats look like they have cheap Chelsea sports quilt covers... the best BMWs were the era of the naturally aspirated straight 6 engines... interiors were so plush and classy. Defo going downhill - as if they are owned by China...

I have one for the week. A 40, and it's average is 26kw per 100 mostly motorway at 133km/hr. It uses almost a full 1% racing off the toll plaza to 133
Finished 800km run cross Ireland average 25.4 kW per 100. No trying to save energy heat at 22. Air temp varied from 7 degrees to 12 degrees.
Wow that is a little concerning. Almost half the miles per kw as my model 3. But maybe that is the going rate for a car of that size.
Congratulations and thanks to show all and each detail of the car - including it’s sound, the frameless door windows, etc - without stupid opinions and more important, without a stupid social media narcissistic talking head at the steering wheel.

Apart from the front look, I really like the car. However the front look is quite ugly. I don’t know how could they make such a big mistake!
It's hilariously ugly to the point you have to fear being laughed at for driving that. What did the designers think? Did they forget to include a space for the numberplate or was it supposed to be in the middle of the grille. And the best thing is having a cartoonesque-oversized grill on a vehicle that doesn't need it. BMW used to have quite a headstart, compared to other traditional manufacturers when it comes to EV. But they have just pissed it away by coming up with terrible front designs and utterly impractical, oversized cars for a market that is changing away from there.
I have no idea... I like to believe that the front glass of the kidneys actually covers a shitload of sensors and radars & stuff...

Great video mate! The BMW iX does not have a frunk. The entire hood is closed and cannot be opened. Probably only at the service center. The BMW front logo however opens and you can fill up your windshield wiper fluid there. You open it by pressing down on the logo. Cheers!

you can open the bonnet, 2 small strap one each side, there is room , for a funk, no gas bonnet supports through, etc, think they could not be bothered , shame really best place for the leads. dash camera & tracker also , obvious omission , no lugged net, stupid on a 100,000 car, but really think otherwise brill
@@tonytyson5762 yes, I found out. I actually show the straps in the video without realising what they are :). Very eager to test that next time I have the iX! I have the idea that the whole frunk concept is being abandoned by a lot of manufacturers... I'll start a business selling aftermarket frunk insets for EV's that don't have one. 💸
@gerhard goedhart I always loved the i3! The frunk was an USP of the original Tesla Model S, but I have the idea not many people use it (or miss it)...

Great review with all details. BMW should provide 22kw AC charger as option just like Mercedes does. In several EU countries, 3- phase home connections are a common scene along with higher Amp circuit breakers.

@@jonpetter8921 I don’t mind the new kidney design in the new 3 & 4, they have a function. In the iX it’s just a big gloss printed sensor cover in the shape of a vent… for me personally that takes a bit more time to get used to :)

@@Rebelz173 Petrol isn't yet a thing of the past but it will not be a thing in the future. It is unsustainable. I'm a petrol head too but we will have to adapt. Besides the charging and range issues, electric cars are great.

This is one hell of a BMW EV SUV, love the interior looks of it and performance is excellent for such a big car, altough im not expecting it to be anywhere close to a price that you could even consider buying as you would probablly be in dept for a few years with it 🤣

The problem with this car is that they have too many goodies on the dashboard, which distracts attention from the road

To me this is the first time when I start thinking that EVs can be interesting. And I'd easily prefer this BMW over Tesla. Partially, because I'm BMW fan, but more because this car feels alive if you know what I mean. Tesla looks like an iPad on wheels. Yeah, very fast iPad but no more. In my opinion Teslas are too minimalistic and their interor looks like some sort of office. While this car gets you emotianal already when you seat there. Those sounds it generates make the car alive if you can say so. I even started to like the front of this SUV, but when I saw it first time my thoughts were: "BMW designers don't know what they're doing".

Only the front kidney's neet some attention by the design team, cause it's the only thing that keep becoming worse and worse. Doesn't need to become smaller but the tho seperate half's don't work on such a big grille

We just received ours a week ago. Kidney grill doesn't bother me as I don't see it when driving. The care is a lot of fun, but I don't think the range is as good as advertised. A lot of the battery drain could be because of the way I'm driving it. As I start to drive like I normally do I would expect the range to get closer to what BMW says.
It’s all marketing. WLTP range is what you get when driving it really gently in optimal conditions 🤓

Just damn glad I'm not walking down that country lane to see that 5 1/2 ton thing hurtling at me, unnowing the driver is inattentive to the road fiddling with his new toys' screens and buttons.
you forgot to mention it comes hurtling in a humming silence, the future is dangerous :)
For me personally, when there’s no connection between control panel and dash is a biggest trash design it could possibly be.. What a shame.. 🤦🏻♂
