  • In 1995, Jonah Lomu's place in the All Blacks Rugby World Cup squad was nowhere close to being assured. The 1995 North v South clash is the game where Jonah made the selectors sit up and take notice and lay the foundation for a Rugby World Cup campaign that would make him a global superstar.

I am a massive Irish rugby fan. My youngest son was named Jonah however, after this great All Black. A legend of a player who will never be forgotten. 🏉

The way he passed up an opportunity to score a try so his teammate could score says a lot about his character. A beast of a rugby player but one of the kindest human beings. R.I.P. Jonah.

That tackle as Lomu was about to score a second try is funny. The fullback goes in to tackle Lomu, but ends up grabbing the legs of his teammate and lifting him up. I bet he was thinking, “I got him, I’m lifting him,” then became disappointed as he realized he tackled his own teammate. That really didn’t help trying to stop Lomu.
