I have made this for years at home in America. Tomorrow I am making it for my Bible study group here in Tanzania 🇹🇿 East Africa. Let's see how they like it. Thanks.
Being Catholic, every Friday was tuna casserole, macaroni and cheese (homemade), fried fish dinner or fish chowder. I rarely eat anything tuna. Can’t believe I ate fish chowder. It was very odd tasting and I was the fussiest eater. I’d never eat it now. Fish, peppercorns, potatoes weird spices, butter and milk or cream, but I think it was milk. I’m sure it had other things in it, but who cares. I actually liked it then. I get chills just thinking about it now. I make a mean tuna salad for a friend when I visit and it’s pretty good. I mix my dressing ingredients separately and then add to the pasta. Much easier. If you put chicken in it and told people it was tuna, they’d taste tuna.
My Aunt Mary used to make the best tuna/macaroni salad. I think it was the love she put into it. She used little shell pasta and diced the onions tiny and would chop up a tomato from her garden. I even have her recipe but it never tastes the same! She was the most loving person ever. Great video. Took me back
@@laurenonmoonlightdr Wow I am also a Pisces. My brother Aaron also (Feb26th) Not boasting or anything but I find ♓️ to be very loving people, but don't mash their corns...look out!😂

I’ve made Tuna Mac Salad for over 50 years. Almost same recipe. I use half the amount of macaroni and double the tuna. Serve on lettuce cups with crackers. Thanks for the reminder. Tomorrow for sure.
Agreed - my Grandma used to make in the 70s (when I was growing up) - very 50s, 60s, 70s dish. I am keeping it going in my family, though - at Fourth of July for sure!
I make the same salad, only I use small half inch chunks of seeded cucumber instead of the peas. Along with a squeeze of lemon juice. It really gives it a nice bright flavor.
Catherine does this bring back memories. I was a hairdresser for 30 years and my first Boss kept a big bowl of this in the fridge with a big cup to scoop it out. She kept it there to nourish her hairdressers and she made it exactly like you. I love Kraft mayo because of the hint of vinegar that cuts the richness of the mayo. I make this often still to this day! Put that on a lettuce leaf wrap good to go, thank you for bringing back such a great memory.

Your mac salad with tuna and other dressings is just wonderful! It’s exactly how mac salad was made when I was growing up, back in the day, in Hawaii…..
I’ve been making something similar to this for about 40 years! It was a recipe I found in a magazine. When I use a full 16-ounce box of elbow macaroni, I use 3 cans of Bumblebee chunk light tuna (in water). I also add a tablespoon of dill weed and a generous topping of shredded mild cheddar cheese. A few hours in the fridge to allow all the flavors to meld, and what a delicious dish!! Everyone I’ve served it to has requested the recipe!! Didn’t know that handy little tip about putting the baking soda in the water when boiling eggs-will definitely do that from now on. 🥰 My husband and I love your videos and watch them together!
I just made this to bring to a fourth of July picnic. Is so good . Thank you I love cold salad in the summer. I didn't have tuna so I used two cans of chicken
I've enjoyed my late mother -in-laws tuna pasta salad so much. I enjoy making it the 2 things I do. I add a little white sugar to cut the mayo taste. I mix the mayo, sugar, onion, celery, eggs, tuna and relish together then I add the pasta and peas. I could never mix all that stuffed in the bowl, I would never have a salad it would be all over. Your recipes are fantastic Thank you for them and your time. ❤👍❤
This is exactly the way I have always made it. It tastes really, really good. Sometimes I use alcohol or half Albuquerque and half-light tuna. It also tastes great if you WA' eat it cold or hot. This is great. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe. And the measurements that you have told us helps people that have never made this. Thank you I can't wait for more of your great recipes🤗
Thats been a favorite of mine since I was little. My grandma got me hooked on it. We'd come from out if town to visit my grandparents & she'd always have this same, big glass serving bowl FULL to the brim with cold tuna noodle salad. She made it very similar to yours, but no pickle relish & lots of eggs cut up in the salad, but the entire top was covered in sliced hard boiled eggs and sprinkled with paprika. She made it the day before we would get there & wouldn't let anybody have any till I got there & had the first plate! (MY poor grandpa❤️) She loved green onions so there was always a lot of those in there and she put really thin slices of radishes cut in half. She never got the peas heated up, just drained a frozen bag in a strainer to get any ice off. Basically just rinsed them to separate them. I do that to this day because they stay nice & firm that way & also seem to help the salad start to chill a little faster. My mom makes it basically the same way still, but has decided she likes seedless red grapes cut in half in hers. I like it that way too, but never think to put it in my own batches somehow. I think I could eat my way thru a big bowl of this stuff every week in the summer! By myself!! 🤣🤣 It's just always been my favorite. I also make the dressing in a separate bowl & mix everything together but the tuna & eggs. Once I have plenty of dressing on the noodles & veggies, I fold in the tuna & eggs so they don't get so broken up by folding it all together. I like them to stay in bigger chunks. But get those sliced eggs on top as a garnish, cover it loosely with plastic wrap & give it a couple hours in the fridge & WATCH OUT! YUMM! 🤣 Thanks for the walk down memory lane!! Miss my grandma every single day & she's been gone since 1985. Nobody spoils ya like grandma, right? 🥰🥰 God bless. 🙏🙏
