QANTAS - Are They Premium Enough?... Melbourne - Perth | Economy Class

  • In the 2nd installment of this trip, I embark on a transcontinental flight across the country to WA. It is always a more comfortable ride on the Airbus A330, which is why I specifically chose this flight. I am really destined for Kalgoorlie so this video will cover the first sector to Perth where I will transit for a little bit.
Now that QF is the only full service carrier in Australia, are they premium enough? This is the question I aim to answer in this video. I will also show you what's being offered in economy and business class. Then you can decide for yourself if it is worth it paying that premium to get on the flying kangaroo.
    Please enjoy the video.

I flown on the Qantas a330 from Perth to Sydney back in 2021 it was a very good experience some things could’ve been better but qantas staff at Perth and Sydney were so kind! The airline and staff also had to go and work through Covid so i love that qantas staff just kept being nice. I feel asleep on the plane to Sydney as it was a red eye and cabin crew gave me a box of lint chocolates so nice! There wasn’t any IFE but everyone didn’t mind i personally think qantas are premium but they do charge a lot but i think its semi worth it keep it up qantas staff!

I have the utmost respect and admiration for QF staff! They bravely front customers when the management has stripped the once proud airline bare. These days QF is just a glorified shadow of its former self, which is very sad to see. Thanks for popping by!

My sons friend is a Qantas maintenance technician and about 12 years ago qantas wanted to do all their maintenance offshore. The technicians went on strike, not just because of possible job threats but because of the 💯 safety record being threatened. The guys take pride in that record. Boeing used to check the fleet and said that Qantas maintenance was a higher standard than they required!
🙏 it hasn’t happened, maintenance is still carried out in Australia. So they didn’t save money as they thought, other service shouldn’t suffer.
I have noticed on utube that most of the Qantas reviewers are Australian, hard to find ones from other places to see their opinions.
Good and thoughtful video 👍thank you, I’m glad you raised the issue of service and standards.

Qantas is just like any other private company, they'll try to save a dime here and there wherever they can. At the end of the day, its all about the bottom line. But safety isn't compromised, that's what I like. I just have an issue with what they're charging us to fly, versus what they offer.

I am a former Qantas LAME B747-400 and RR Rb211-524G/H. The company in the 80s to 2000s spent huge money on home base maintenance.
But it became uncompetitive as cheaper labor OS and safer smarter new aircraft have arrived. TBH the modern aircraft are so good that line maintenance is only required in Australia.
Heavy maintenance is done at dedicated facility for a type to serve all airlines. it is far more cost effective.

Virgin Australia has much the same service as QANTAS, for about half the price, sure, no free meals, but a snack is all one needs on a 4 hour trip, especially if you’re a lounge member.

i love your quirky and honest remarks about your flight. honesty is the BEST policy. considering Qantas was the dearest flight to Perth, i was NOT impressed. its now march 2023 and only yesterday on the news, it said Qantas made billions of dollars just last year.. well we all know how - the dearest flights and not much food etc. And for the wifi to cut out as well, id be pretty annoyed if i had paid the dearest fare to W.A. and had that happen. I like how you present your experience, so will subscribe. thank you for your honest. oh and btw, i never knew that even if you flew economy - your still entitled to the Qantas lounge for a free meal before boarding

Thanks for the video Ryan have to totally agree with your comments regarding the standard of the QANTAS product having just returned from Bangkok after flying QANTAS return from Sydney - Dinner service the brown box with a drink followed by an ice block - breakfast was only a Bacon and Egg pastry , No Wifi onboard - For the prices they are charging QANTAS really need to lift their standards They won't take notice of the average passenger. so more videos like your own need to be posted.

Well, according to QF spin doctors - the airline is now in post Covid recovery mode. Which is why these cuts are now being made in an effort to bring the airline back into the black. But my fear is these cutbacks will remain permanent because the bean counters would look at the numbers and be pleased by what they see. It is all a numbers game, unfortunately. Thanks for your comment though!

OHHH So excited that I've got a couple of Ryan travel videos to catch up on. You've changed your intro music! You, like Aidan, spend more time in Melbourne than antwhere else. You should just move here. haha I recently flew QF MEL - SYD in premium and felt the service and offerings were on par to pre-Covid. Catering was single tray service though. However, the time before when I flew in Y, I would absolutely agree that the line between premium and LCC is getting blurred. Good to see you eat some salad, Ryan. Love the 332. The economy seats look pretty comfy. Wait, if Target more premium than Kmart? haha I'm chunkier than you so that Y seat is a little tighter for me. haha The meatballs actually looked pretty good to me. It actually beats the meal i got on domestic MH business class. Admittedly, the flight was shorter and significantly cheaper than even Y on QF.

I flew this route back in august on QF773 when it was the morning departure.
Tracked past the northern side of robe… then over ocean for a couple of hours. Was a beautiful day! As per your thoughts regarding Qantas…. I guess since 90% of the time I am using points and pay tax’s, the prices don’t really affect me and after my experiences with VA and JQ this year…QF is still my preferred in Australia. I am just happy to be flying again… the airlines have struggled in the last couple of years… so I’d be interested to see what happens in another 3/5 years…

I fly Qantas a few times a month on the Perth to Melbourne return route. Every flight I have taken with them has been delayed so I'm not quite sure where they get the on-time performance from.Wifi has also not worked on every flight causing staff to have to reboot the system. Meals are on repeat and the chef seems to love anything cooked with mince and Ravioli. Flight staff are usually ok although like anything and some staff on last night's flights, you can get some shockers.

Sorry but your expectations are far to high and you aren’t comparing apples with apples. Go fly in the USA domestically or any other airline domestically and see what you get. Let’s not mention flying “internationally” within Europe. You simply can’t compare this product to an international sector by a competing airline. Qantas has a vastly different product on international services. Also, on what other airline in the world do you get free alcohol and food on a domestic service, even flights 1 hour long? Would love to know. Would be a handful, if that.Prices have risen across the board but it’s simply to do with economics as there is a shortage of seats in the Australian market compared to pre covid when all the major Aus airlines had more aircraft flying, not to mention we also had tiger air and VA flying wide bodies. Time to get with the times and realise (and regret) what lockdowns and covid did to Australia’s aviation sector. The Australian public have made their bed, now it’s time to lay in it. Despite this you expect far too much for a domestic sector. Would love to see a Lufthansa or United review on a intra-continental service.
