C'mon did you not research this The pelagornis: - Best fish gathering in the entire game - Can kill and harvest in one bite - Massive attack bonus against small fish (piranha, coel, sabertooth, etc) - Polymer farmer. - Better stam than a ptetra.
Archaeopteryx is op. It can stay in the air for ages, doesn’t lose stamina or gain weight from being held, and maintains momentum infinitely. You can also use it to fly through basically any cave, especially the island’s snow cave, since the purlovias wont cause you to drop it and you can still control it while stunned. This video contains so much bad advice that clearly shows the guy has never actually utilized these dinos (except Pachy and Titanoboa, they’re both pretty bad lol)
Archyopteryx is extremely useful for getting around in foot early game and for recovering flyer stamina mid air. Plus it takes 2 darts 10 minutes to tame. If he spent 5 minutes reading the wiki or dododex pages for these tames he'd know most of them are far from "useless".
@@anthonycaruso1781 They also eat CHITIN, which doesn't spoil and is easy to get hold of in places where Archaeopteryx spawns. They'll eat it after taming, too. Really doesn't get much easier to tame/care for, and you get a wicked hang glider for your troubles.
I actually find the Pelegornus useful for scouting other animals due to the facts that when you stop the animal in mid-air it doesn't flap it's wings or have any up and down body motion as well as the excellent forward view the animal gives you when using the spyglass - no head or neck to get in the way like a griffin, wyvern or pteranadon.
Best early game poly collector. Best early game flier on water maps. They swim at their fly speed and use almost no stamina to do so. Best land anywhere creature requiring less landing space than any other flying mount. I can actually go on with nearly every creature on the list. Specialized use does not equal useless.
Yeah it was very worth it. I was in the swamps for over an hour but I got one buy the end and they are really good. Also I found out the diplocaulus gets more chitin and sillica pearls from trilobites. Also it does extra dmg to trilobites.
And also scuba tanks break after a while so you have to bring a few if you were planning on staying under water for a while. Diplocaulus is litteraly infinite oxygen no durability other then it's health of course but that's because they weren't made for battle they were more for underwater exploration. Of course they come in handy to farm certain creatures like trilobites and eurypterid but you obviously wouldn't tame one to fight say a megalodon.
It breaks around half an hour and how are you going to sit there going to complete the game needing to go in underwater caves with that animal it will get shredded
Dodos are my poop makers for my beetle and I use their eggs for my primary food as they last much longer than meat but guess you could do that with any ol dino
I don't know, there are other creatures that can be tamed that can produce large amounts of feces as well, like the Daeodon or the Roll Rat, that also serve far more valuable roles. Other than the fact that the Phiomia is incredibly easy to tame and its saddle is available at like, level 5 or something, it really has little to offer other than pooping, beginning pack mule or easy meat resource.
Mantas are gods at pvp. Tame a pack of 6 of these, they can take out a lvl 100 meg in 15 seconds. Tame 18 of these, they can take out a plesio easily. Tame 50, and you have reached omnipotence.
Update: pela is great for organic polymer now Update: galli’s can get up to 1 lat in 3 secs and it takes little to no fall dmg Update: pachies r great for pvp just send them to hit a person and the person will get knocked instantly Update: dimetrodons r great for prime Update: diplocauluses r great for a starter water creature bc it gives inf oxy to the player and great for exploring shallow water
@Ap killing baby dinos is the fastest way for prime meat in the early game. Them acting as ACs mean you don't even need a starter base to get your babies breeding and slaughtering them as you move.
the pachy was one of original creatures which is why they're pretty underpowered... the Manta is also faster than the itcthy, which also kill themselves frequently. what about if you dont want the air cons? the dimes and diplocalus are essential on primitive servers. Boas are great in PVP for inner base defense because of torpor damage. the monkey also can be tossed over enemy structures to unlock them.
@mlp is the worst creation made by mankind I dont know where plesis were brought into the discussion but okay. Manta are the fastest water tame, look it up. Araneo has a base damage of 10, Scorpion 15 and the snake 30. which means that Snakes are almost always going to hit harder. While your point about the doors is correct did you know that the monkey has the same weight reduction feature as a jerboa with the added bonus that the monkey poo actually poisons anything it hits
@mlp is the worst creation made by mankind you'll see in my original comment, I offered no opinion on Mantas, just facts, they are faster then icthys. honestly, who even tames troodons? they have a base damage of 7. 7! I dont know, Monkey's are pretty rare I can hardly ever find them when I want to tame one for the lulz.
ivace Troodons are a pain to tame because for one only best to tame at night and some pvp servers has less night times than day time, and they also they are best to use a lot of tamed/ hatched baby dinos to just tame one with very good tame rate
The taming tracker feature is amazing for purposes of taming dinos that you tend to lose sight of. Feed the monkey one berry and activate the tracker.. Done n dusted!
I just had to come back and say, since actually making it to kibble my first time, I can say confidently 80% of this list is totally ignorant. The dimetrodon can be used to breed up perfect pteranodons before you even have a smithy. Then you’re set to hop all over the island at will without any concern for the squish you’re riding. The Pelegornis carries polymer for 1/5th it’s weight, and harvests 30% more, as well as just being a damn neat way to fish, and get fish. Not to mention, being able to land in water to regain stamina gives a huge advantage when compared to the pteranodon, that always needs to land on some sort of high ground. The slowness from the Mesopithicus has sinched more tames I would have failed otherwise than I care to mention. You really only looked at this from the perspective of someone who only tames the most useful things for each thing, or things with really powerful late game abilities. Ark is all about having everyone for every little thing. The worst tames are the ones that have no effect on anything you spend time doing in ark. If there aren’t 10 of those, then maybe this video shouldn’t exist.
As an OG player of Ark, the Titanoboa was an incredibly useful tame for 1 major reason, KIBBLE! It was easy to make high end kibble with its eggs and it produced them relatively fast. As well as ya know, just looking nice. xD
You couldn't be more wrong about the Pelagornis. They're great early/mid game tames IMO. Statistically, they're the best harvesters of organic polymer in the game. In addition, because they can land and swim on water, they're great at luring Megalodons into coastal taming pens. Granted, they're not that useful late-game, but that can be said about the majority of the dinos in the game.
@@peabrain6872 Not to mention he stated how easy it was to kill it, even though Megs get a pack boost, and back then, did bleed. Not many things would have survived getting in the middle of that mess, and even then there's no actual scenario where you're suddenly jumped by 8 megs at once without seeing them coming.
They turn berries into seeds. Seeds are the best food for gachas. Light, easy to slot cap a gacha with some seeds and snow owl pellets. Great production.
They are my go to non-flyer travel mount until I get an imprinted Procoptodon. My top 5 ground travel mounts are 5. Iguanodon- I love this guy because you really don't need to put the points into stamina 4. Procoptodon 3. Thylacoleo 2. Managamar 1. Rock Drake (probably Mana is better due to speed but I have a personal preference for Drakes) Honorable mention: Deinonychus I like that it is quick, a glider and climber but it gets honorable due to having low stamina they do make great escorts for you Iguanodon though Equus: Another great starter tame but is a bit too slow and won't outrun an Allosaurus, You need to imprint one and then put some levels into speed before you can outrun the wild Allos Ravager: Just because zip lines and their bonus carry weight.
Agus Danni Effendy depends on the level. Everybody prefers a carnivore cause it can fight, while gallimimus just runs. It will also abandon you if it’s or you are hurt. So, no. Get a rex or giga.
The monkey is good for low level players, especiallyif they start in mid to high range areas just in case something attacks you then you can escape. Just find a low level one to tame.
I use that monkey all the time! Specially going in caves and stuff… you want to get out of places… let the monkey throw its pop at it to slow it down while you escape
Me and my friend tamed a diplo for oil and haven't regretted it lol, its oxygen we really took advantage of while we were low levels and still use him with our scuba gear
Some things that are being overlooked. Pelagornis are kinda awesome. -They're excellent for harvesting fish. Land on a jungle river where there's a mess of coelecanths and pirahnas, and just spam the attack button. -they're STUNNING for getting polymer out of penguins, considerably better than the club, sword, or even chainsaw. -their ability to atract predators can be put to use. If you don't want megalodons after you, just land in the shallows. But if you want to bait them away or to a trap, land a pelagornis near a sea critter and it can't resist. Mantas are kinda clumsy, but their big advantage is that they're relatively small and have a decent attack. Think of them as your water-dimorphodons... although granted, not as good. Diplocaulus--If you havean areawhere there are lots of trilobites, this guy is pretty decent for farming them. They have a massively enhanced attack against trilobites, which means he also harvests a lot more from them as well as killing them faster. The mesopithecus has one nice advantage for pvp--if you throw him into an opening in someone else's base, he'll open the door for you.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you about the dimetrodon, granted dimetrodons are a massive pain in the ass to tame, but I would rather spend eighty bio toxin to tame a creature than eighty metal to make an air conditioner, and you only have to tame a male and a female then the rest are free, after that you have an army of upgradable air conditioners that don't require electricity
Him:”Who’s gonna tame a pack of compys?” Me over here telling my friend that I watched a video that said this... We both started trying to tame a hoard of compys!
with a few dimetrodon one can get a wyvern hatched and raised before one gets to ac engram so early access wyvern and can move dimetrodon when one needs to relocate. otherwise once a solid base and engrams get rid of them and get the ac units set up
The diplocaulus is easy to tame, pretty fast in water, and is amazing for early game water movement! I literally tamed a plesi while using a diplocaulus as an oxygen tank. This should not be on this list lmfao
I fucking hate mantas they took my first parasaur and the damn jellyfish took my first spitter dinos swear to god if we could burn the ocean then I’d do it in a heartbeat for now scorched earth is my best friend
Same, my Pico died a hero when that rex walked right into my base. He managed to distract it long enough for me to kill it before it killed me and the rest of my tames.
This! On my first playthrough on the island I did research on all the dinos and their traits. By level 70 I had a imprinted Otter for insulation, early pearls, and artifacts. An equus as a portable mortar, argy for portable smithy, hyaenodon for a portable fridge basically, and a imprinted thyla to wreck stuff and mobility. I used mammoths and yuuty for raids and bossing. Mammoths also for hydration and wood gathering. Doedicuris for stone and metal. Therozeno for all purpose gathering around base namely fiber because screw sickles. Dung beetle for fertilizer. Daeodon for healing. Then I had a pack of 12 full imprint Rex's for bosses why I rode yuuty and Mammoth back and forth with a few daemons for healing. It was a true survival experience. I've realized my role as a hunter and have updated my list since then to only 3 travel companions. But these have a special place in my ark travels and never fail to tame them if I find one with a decent level.
The monke is actually a good tame for pvp. Mostly good for mele characters, put it in turret mode and the monke will fling shit at players slowing them down and decreasing their vision. I believe it also prevents you from drinking med brews.
I disagree with the diplocaulus. They are my favorite water mount because of how fast they are and they give you oxygen. The scuba tank is unlocked at a high level. Also they do massive amounts of damage to trilobites so they are good for farming trilobites and exploring the ocean.
Diplocaulus's have got to be perhaps one of my favorite creatures in ARK due to their different abilities. You can use them for lengthy underwater exploration as well as reaching hard to get to ocean resources and creatures to tame thanks to their speed and oxygen. They are also INCREDIBLE at killing and harvesting Trilobites as they have a damage multiplier to them, you get so much pearls, oil, and chitin from that. Not to mention that you can snag one from a swamp with a Pterandodon and they can be tamed easily. I also just adore their derpy smile!
I’d say Mantas are pretty useful, they do good damage, despite what you said, Dimetrodons are early-game ways of breeding, Diplocaulus are easy beginner water mounts that you can go deep on (before you get scuba tech),
The diplocaulus is actually very useful. It kills trilobites with one bite. The underworld on center has loads of trilobites and therefore you can get oil and silica pearl's super super easily.
diplocaulus comes way earlier then the scuba gear, Diplocaulus appears to do 5x bonus dmg or a similar multiplier when attacking Trilobite. Diplocaulus can usually kill Trilobites instantly, and harvest the Raw Meat, Chitin, Oil, and Silica Pearls they drop with relative ease.
I recently discovered a glitch with the pelagornis, when on water look straight down and spam the jump/fly button and you will slowly start going down into the water
Don't know if any of this was different before updates, since this was a year ago, but a few of these are very useful tames. Pelagornis is amazing for collecting organic polymer. Also, its ability to harvest on kill can be useful in a lot of situations. This also makes them great for gathering raw fish quickly. I always tame a Pelagornis as soon as I can craft a saddle. Gallimimus are incredible for taming on multiplayer. Just like Tapejara. Sit a tribemate on the back of the saddle with a tranq rifle and leisurely stroll in front of the dino you're trying to tame. "Dimetrodon can be the best egg incubator a survivor could wish for. At roughly 1,100 damage, one Dimetrodon can even begin incubating Wyvern Eggs, which require unnaturally high temperatures to hatch."(quoted directly from the Ark Wiki). Yes, they can be replaced with air conditioners, but those are stationary and require power. Dimetrodons can be easily moved and only require meat. Other than those three, the rest of the list I completely agree with.
harvest on kill is terrible, it just makes their trash weight stat worse, gallis arent even the fastest multi seat mount anymore, moschops harvest organic polymer better
@@peabrain6872 Harvest on kill is amazing and makes gathering fish meat a breeze. I never said Gallimimus was the fastest. I said they were great for taming because they have multiple seats on their saddle. Also, on The Island they are still the fastest multiseat mount, and other multiseat mounts on other maps can be a lot more dangerous to catch. Moschops can gather organic polymer, if you level them for it a lot. However Pelagornis can just as easily be leveled for weight and can travel to find polymer a lot faster. They also get a huge weight reduction on organic polymer. I don't see any reason, and couldn't find a reason online, why anyone would choose a Moschops for organic polymer when there are Pelagornis and Achatina in the game.
@@peabrain6872 Or I could use a Pelagornis that can fly, regen stamina on land and on water, kill multiple fish in an aoe around it, gather all of that fish instantly, fly to the cold area and gather a ton of polymer and easily carry it all, and look adorable while doing it all. I'm not arguing that other tames can't be almost as useful as Pelagornis if you level them a ton more than Pelagornis. I'm arguing that Pelagornis isn't useless and is personally one of my most used mounts. I've looked online and can't find a single source that says anything is better at polymer farming than a Pelagornis, but if you can provide that source I'd love to provide ten more that say the opposite for each source you provide.
In PVE I've had uses for Meso early on. Because early on, raptors can be pretty annoying, but since a Meso can slow them down and allow you to escape, or even allow you to shoot it with tranqs if you for some reason don't have bolas.
@@damnsonwheredyoufindthis.3830 I know ichty can do the same thing and is easier to get, more people do use them, however the mantas great speed makes them better in the long run even if theyre annoying to tame. CJ also put the manta in a list for scouting dinos xD
1: the pelagornis is able to fish as you said, but fishing on the back of it can be very useful getting blueprints and are great to have around if you have a raft base. 2: the pachy is actually decent to just have following to protect you while you get metal or something at low levels. 3: dimetroodon can just be a low level incubator because air conditioners are for much higher level. 4:the mesopithicus poop can be very useful if it hits someone during pvp or whilst running from a raptor. 5: I use the compy all the time by making packs of aboat 5 compys in my base or in some honey comb so when raiders blow the base up, if they decided to run and c4, the compys can be really annoying and stop invaders. I find that these combined with vultures or dimorphidons are great as the compys would gaurd the base and the flyers will attack ( also make sure they are on aggressive or they may lose Agro )
The diplocaulus was good for easy early stage chitin & pearl farmer mount. This is map dependant of course, but worth it if you're not high enough level to make an entire scuba suit.
I think not. I have a pack of about 60 that are regularly increasing with egg hatching, and they've easily taken on an alpha carno. You just have to build them into health and damage and actually make them good. Mine run around with between 400 and 500 health, and hit for between 150 and 500 damage per hit because of their upgrades and pack boost.
The fact that pelegornis attract everything is the best reason to get them, you can easily bring anything into the shallows with a decent health pelegornis
I know this is completely out of context but why is the archaeopteryx on this list? When I first got extinction I would fly around on them all the time
Well off the shoulder mounts aren’t that useful, they are mainly for vanity so you could have just used those slots for other dinos in the list.. I had a lvl 250 compy names Albert and he died to an alpha rex
I once had a mated pair of high lvl (by comparison to my character at the time) dilos that were expecting a little one soon. I loved them to no end. Many adventures we had....but one day, in my blind ignorance of simply not looking behind me, I agro-ed that Infernal, bane of my existence death-turkey from tartaris (therinzinosaur). It made me watch as it wiped the stones, grass, and dirt with their blood and the blood of their unborn hatchling. (Sniff) it turned to me and smiled; claws drippings with their life essence. I could do nothing but watch as it approached me in my soulless, heartbroken state, and slashes me repeatedly. Body shredded, spirit broken, my last conscious thought was "I failed them" before drifting off into oblivion.... . . "Forgive me". . . R.I.P Narco, my first and best friend. Always the hungry one you rascal. R.I.P Delphie, the protective older sister I never had. R.I.P Lotus, though you never had a chance at life, you'll still have my love and live on in memory.
@@zacharychavez3482 that’s deep bro, sorry for your loss ;( I was raising a high lvl poison wyverb then a lvl 130 yuty fell off the cliff and killed it
Oh yeah, plus they fly through double doors so if your trap design allows for one, they are probably one of the best kiting tames for many dinos, argies, rexes, name it. Kite into trap, fly through double doors, land on the other side of the door, dino stays aggrod on pela while you stroll round and close the trap gates
Ik Pelagornis is a great game for harvesting fish and collecting organic polymer, Gallimus is one of the fastest tames in the game. Not being able to fight isn’t a problem because it’s a transportation mount and it can run away from battles Dimetrodons are hard to tame but once it’s melee becomes buffed enough it can incubate even wyvern eggs by itself Diplocaulus and mesopithecus are pets. They aren’t meant to be useful for anything except being cute and they are very easy to tame.
User I’m pretty sure Titanboas are used for their eggs. They aren’t used for anything else. But their eggs are used for superior kibble so they hold some value.
the pelagornis is really useful early game but later on it definitely loses a lot of its use. they’re good for farming fish meat and flying past dangerous things on the shore by flying over water
Diplocaulus is one of my favorite tames 🥺 trilobite farming potential is amazing. When you're low level and need lots of chitin for saddles and armor, you got it. When you're mid level and need oil and pearls, you got it. If want to explore the ocean before level 80 you can and you can outswim everything super easy.
Welp just get a frickin sarco and deal with it with ease . Lazarous chawder is also super amazing and if you pay a visit to south 1 beaches there would be plenty of trilobites on the beach and can get killed way faster than a diplocaucus
Wild dimetrodons also work with hatching eggs. And the more, the better. So if you get a high level or two, they are easily able to hatch wyvern eggs and Rock Drake eggs. I've tried it, very handy for hatching up wyvern eggs when you're too low level to make air conditioners.
The Galimimus is the Dino I always tame, plus it’s the one of the fastest ARK Dino’s, so like it’s pretty good for traveling far places quickly Also, pachys are very good for beginners if they don’t have any tranq arrows
ngl, i love the pachy. It's primary attack does have a shitty torpor to damage ratio, but it's charge attack does not. You do have to charge it up all the way to full, but if you get the first hit in, it's basically said and done for any lone dino you want to KO, since the charge attack will stun the creature for as long as it takes to charge up another one. Definitely not useful for dealing with large packs of dinos, but it's very valuable in my book. Granted, the Equus is probably the better option, or even my favorite creature on ARK, the Scorpion, but I do still appreciate the Pachy.
I think Moschops is the best starter tame. Just find one that only requires Tinto or Mejos to tame and boom! They’ll harvest everything you’ll need and have the bonus of being really strong, for starting that is. Don’t underestimate the Chops
Mesopithecus in turret mode and attack your target was actually incredible for crippling fleeing dinos I'm trying to tame. Especially anything that can be immobilized by a Bola. Not a horrible shoulder mount in early game, honestly.
Your Average Gamer Dododex and why would I have a random pacy and it would be much easier to just use a club or boomerang especially on the server I play on
The Pelgornis is great for farming fish and the little monkey warns you of aggressive dinos while you’re out gathering resources. Each Dino has their specific uses. I wouldn’t say one is worse than the other, they’re good for the use that they have.
I have a funny story about when I first started playing ark, so when I discovered that you could tame things I wanted a whole army. And one of the easiest animals to tame for a beginner is a dodo so I was taming every dodo I found for 2 weeks and I think I came out with 12-16 dodos and when I attacked something at my base my whole army of dodos waddled over and just went to town. Other than the fact that the Phiomia is incredibly easy to tame and its saddle is available at like, level 5 or something, it really has little to offer other than pooping, beginning pack mule or easy meat resource.

@@thedoorknob7608 how do eggs have anything to do with getting prime from dimetrodons????

You couldn't be more wrong about the Pelagornis. They're great early/mid game tames IMO. Statistically, they're the best harvesters of organic polymer in the game. In addition, because they can land and swim on water, they're great at luring Megalodons into coastal taming pens. I don't know why but when he said "the manta could drown on the beach" it felt weird

Colonel Sarge I agree it’s just easier to get at lower levels compared to scuba gear. 😄
I also just adore their derpy smile!

diplocaulus comes way earlier then the scuba gear, Diplocaulus appears to do 5x bonus dmg or a similar multiplier when attacking Trilobite. Diplocaulus can usually kill Trilobites instantly, and harvest the Raw Meat, Chitin, Oil, and Silica Pearls they drop with relative ease.

@@Sinsults moschops and mantis got me over 2000k polymer every day, and if you want fish so bad and need a instant harvest then use a baryonyx

I'm not arguing that other tames can't be almost as useful as Pelagornis if you level them a ton more than Pelagornis. I'm arguing that Pelagornis isn't useless and is personally one of my most used mounts.
Or simply have a few Dilocaulus added to your Dino naval fleet
Ok this is my fav channel but when someone puts a flying bird on the worthless list someone gonna die that’s just insulting my pack
Wild dimetrodons also work with hatching eggs. And the more, the better. So if you get a high level or two, they are easily able to hatch wyvern eggs and Rock Drake eggs. I've tried it, very handy for hatching up wyvern eggs when you're too low level to make air conditioners.
Dimetrodons had their incubation ability buffed since this video was uploaded, so at the time, they weren't as useful.
Weird, titanaboas are a nightmare in the swamp, because a single one makes you have time wait for one of your group to wake up after a single bite.
My favorite tame is....
That brutal guy in my tribe who can knock someone with flak with just a club
What a mad lad
The Galimimus is the Dino I always tame, plus it’s the one of the fastest ARK Dino’s, so like it’s pretty good for traveling far places quickly
Also, pachys are very good for beginners if they don’t have any tranq arrows
gallis are good but bears are better
I disagree with alot of this youtubers creatures but I actually do agree with galis i think they honestly are pretty bad
ngl, i love the pachy.
Is it sad that about every dino in this list is my apart of my favorite dinos?
yeah it is, but the list is pretty shit anyway
maybe because you are scared to tame anything else more dangerous than that?😂🤣
@@ragnarwartooth1480 I've tames better things. Its the fact they are useless for me 😂
To be honest, I was expecting Moschops to be on the list.
P.S. I actually like Moschops *Lol.*
They are a great low lvl tame for thatch collection.
Basically an early game theri
I think Moschops is the best starter tame. Just find one that only requires Tinto or Mejos to tame and boom! They’ll harvest everything you’ll need and have the bonus of being really strong, for starting that is. Don’t underestimate the Chops
They are the best fiber harvesters in the game
The Moschops used to be an endgame dinosaur because it’s one of the best harvesters in the game!
Mesopithecus in turret mode and attack your target was actually incredible for crippling fleeing dinos I'm trying to tame. Especially anything that can be immobilized by a Bola. Not a horrible shoulder mount in early game, honestly.
Be me: ~Lvl 25
*tames 6 pachys and mates the heck out of them*
*gets ~23 pachys*
*hits brontosaurus and starts tranqing it*
Did that actually work out for you?
@@LordZanas prop did
Me who spent the past four hours taming a lvl 127 Gallimimus: 👁️ 👄 👁️
Raptors pouncing was broken af especially in PvE.
Made half the mounts in the game unstable especially in the early game.
The pacy is used for Knocking out wild Dinos So you can tame them
Prodigy_ Sleepy what’s the point when you can just use a arrow? Which does more torpor
Your Average Gamer why wouldn’t you have enough tranqs to tame something unless you weren’t prepared
Your Average Gamer Dododex and why would I have a random pacy and it would be much easier to just use a club or boomerang especially on the server I play on
Your Average Gamer why not lol it’s so convenient
@Your Average Gamer what is dododex?
The salamander is for collecting pearls from trilobites. They're great if you want a squid.
I thought It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Edit: just fixing some mistakes
