I like to PvP, and PvE. Usually wearing an Exo Suit nowadays. Unlocking it is easy with no cheats needed anymore, and usually on a server, official or unofficial, I'm not fussed. Single Player is great though, certainly with a guide for any platform be it xbox, ps4, ps5, pc, it's great. Sometimes play MTS, and usually post patch/update. But a survival game needs some community news and that's what I do, giving you the latest on events, small tribes, maybe even fast flyers and primitive plus, usually covering all maps from Island to Genesis Part 2. And one day. ARK 2!

Honestly Im very suprised the the Bear is on slot nr1. I always saw them as incredible good Mounts, easily capable of dealing similar damage as a Rex while also being incredible fast. While also being awesome early/mid game mounts especially on AB where it is very easy to not only find a bear but also knock one out and taming it up pretty easy as well.

I think it is simply due to them being medium mounts. If you werent attacked by all sorts of dinos unlike when on a theri or rex they wouldnt even crack the honorable mentions of this list

I got one to try tackling an artefact cave and even while I’m still levelling him to prepare he is able to take down most things I encounter with ease, He is pretty low level so I hope to use his thermal insulation to find a polar dire bear in the coldest spot on ragnarok ( just below the highlands where I live)
I’m surprised that the fact moschops really helps you kibble rush wasn’t brought up, if you get lucky, you can instantly bag a critter that produces superior eggs, which can score you a huge amount of creatures in ark, with nothing more than some tintoberries or mejoberries. That feature of it is really underrated imo
honestly i never used kibble at all D: .... i always feel like its mats are kinda rough to get , but thats may be me who is not fully experienced with ark yet

@@oomphhfreak kibble is extremly overpowered. When you tame something with its perverted kibble it gains a bunch of extra levels. Think of kibble as food that buffs creatures from taming

If you transfer one over, a Iguanadon or Dire Bear are the best creatures for running around the SE desert to pick up desert lootcrates, being even faster than doing it on most fliers. And the frog also recovers stamina while swimming, and a t a faster rate than it loses it, effectively giving it infinite swilling as long as it has food.
Igaunadons spawn on se actually
Procoptodon is way better in terms of speed and travelling. So much weight and utility, can easily tame any dino running around them, also the fastest berry harvester if you know how to use it. Also it's almost impossible to die unless you encounter a microraptor.
@@sourisgogo speed is a big factor but you also need endurance if your going to check the entire desert, which the Iguanadon and Dire Bear have in spades. And no microraptors spawn in the desert area anyway.
@@grummdoesstuff2983 procoptodon almost has infinite stamina, you should try yourself because I believe procoptodon can go twice as fast as iguanodon and bear. I have tried many times (i dont really know much about the bear tho). You have to stop every 2 mins for 5 secs with the procoptodon, in the meantime those 2 other dinos would be pretty far behind, i've tamed many times the iguanodon because it's a very cool dino for early game, trust me procoptodon has way more utility and once you unlock it, you can go to the other side of the island in less than 5 minutes while the iguanodon would take 20 idk, even in the desert procoptodon goes way faster anyway.
also procoptodon is way safer than the iguanodon, more weight, more everything xd but it's hard to obtain the saddle without farming fur so iguanodon is perfect for early game
Moschops is so underrated. I love them. They make early game farming for fiber and hide so much quicker, which you will need a lot of in the beginning, and then later on set to wander can just be a base lawnmower to keep it from over growing again with bushes, while also still farming for you.
6:50 Fun fact: feroxes Also do that, and protect you from heat as well. This Works for both the shoulder and mount version
Ferox has static insulation, direbear's is based off melee like Otters I think.

It's interesting how my Top3 favorite creatures ever (the Chalico, the Igua and the Kapro, in that order) are on this list.
As the complete opposite of today's video, why not a TOP 10 of the creatures we love for no reason ? XD They're not better than some others, their abilities might be barely used, they don't necessarily have the best design, but we always need one in our base. Or ten. A poll about irrational love :)

The equus is probably the best underrated creature. Since they don’t need a saddle and are somewhat easy to tame, they are the best for beginners. Especially taking into consideration that they can knock most Dino’s.

I think the sarco is the most undderated tame. It is one of if not the fastest creatures in the water, is ridiculously easy to knock out (you literally walk backwards) can be tamed a lot earlier on than most other water creatures and with the tlc are able to turn around quickly in the water unlike 90% of water mounts. Sure bary's do a stun but you cant go nearly as fast and sarcos wont surface if you dismount on them. Besides running underwater caves, I have found my best luck in the ocean for killing, farming, and gathering rare recources came from using a sarco. In any case, I just really like them.
If I remember correctly, the plesio at max speed is the fastest water mount.

Surprised Parasaur wasn't on here. It's the second available saddle to learn, learning it at level 9, along with the bola. For a brand new character, it's as easy a tame as you can possibly get, a very cheap saddle, good speed, great gatherer for berries, thatch, and wood, surprisingly potent fighter, and it transitions well into later stages of the game with its turret mode that allows you to detect enemies. Even if you're just speedrunning to high level, it's more than worth it to make a parasaur pit stop for that extra speed and defense. Every character should speedrun this tame.
Ya but everyone knows about the para and use it in early game, sometimes late game for detecting enemies.

I can’t believe Beezlebufos are that high up. They’re always a Must-Tame for me. I actually tend to prefer them to the snails. I always go for them when I find myself needing easy cementing paste. They are such great tames
Gosh, I've been away from Ark for about two years now, just came back and I completely forgot the frogs collected cem paste. Definitely hunting for one now.
Raasclark: (The bear) Is the only mountable creature that can keep you warm in those very cold temperatures.

Iguanodon is actually better than I thought. It’s also worth mentioning that the Frog doesn’t get torpor (from eurypterids at least)
I find the fact one must be on a bear to access a certain area amazing, it'll either drive off or wisen up new players to little known mechanics. So many passive buffs are unknown to new players cause machines can usually do just the same, but for a much heftier price.
The first time I played Aberration I did a huge mistake. I was in a rush to get a reaper or Karkinos while unaware of how difficult they are. Unable to find a good base location, constantly losing my own raptors to others. I spied my saving grace. A high level Dire Bear. Playing it safe I trapped it and tamed it, owing that bear for the reason I stuck to Aberration enough to enjoy more than the northern areas

Another benefit of the moschops is that its eggs make superior kibble, and it literally harvests every other ingredient necessary to make that kibble as well. If anything the moschops is OP for resource gathering and early/mid game taming. No saddle requirement and passive taming means that even a level 1 player can get a mount, harvesting buddy, and kibble farm up and running in one day.

I’m surprised to see Baryonyx on this list, even as an honorable mention. They are the best caving dino on the island (in my opinion) good on both land and water, can heal mid cave with just raw fish meat since they get boosted healing from eating them, stun attack for annoying things (also what i use to kill the mantas while taming basilos) i always tame some on island and aberration playthroughs to use as my main mid-game mount, and I recommend giving them a chance if you haven’t yet!
I knew it wouldn't be on here. It's so widely despised that people seem to forget is even an option for taming. I'm talking of course about the terror bird. To date, it is technically the only ridable tame in the game to work like a nature parachute. Archytopryx is the better known version but forces you to hold it above your head, and the sino not only works more like a jetpack mixed with a Glider it also rides you. So yeah, how many out there actually knew the terror bird made for a decent early game explorer?
one other mount that also gives thermal protection is the Basilosaurus

I constantly say that the moschops is insanely good for harvesting berries, fiber, thatch and wood super damn well, ontop of it's ability to level specific harvesting like the theri it has decent carry weight and can be ridden, the only definitive downsides it has is it will only run and never fight and high stam drain
My biggest underrated dinosaur are allos and deinonychus. The only dinos that I know of which actually KEEP their % health DOT debuffs when tamed. Wyverns, magmasaurs, and such get their % health replaced with a flat rate based on their melee damage, and some dinos like Gigas lose it altogether. Get a deino or allow army with some op saddles, and you can kill basically ANYTHING in under 200 seconds.
as a player that has only played island and never got further than beach bob standards, moschops is my all-time favourite.
first off the extremely easy resource gathering makes getting any type of berry extremely easy.
standard attacking has a pretty big AOE range since its attack is supposed to be used for gathering, which is perfect for killing off all kinds of small pack creatures and easily counters the seagulls aswell. its stats are surprisingly good, and grinding levels is really easy since you just need to go bite some grass and trees to get exp; this results in getting really good stats really quickly.

About moschops, I once used a moschop on a server, and after I lvl a lot of meele into it, I went to fight a theri. Moschops won (I was riding it) they do a lot of dmg.
Since the Giant Bison didn’t make the vote with its insular ability, a dimetrodon pack will possibly be a must on Fjordur in Jotunheim.

The equus is my #1 tame. Great for travelling and getting away from danger. Also great for knocking high level creatures out if you have low melee damage and high health/Stam.
Yay horse! Love the Equus. Wish they'd put more horse-like critters in Ark. I always thought a hippalectryon would be neat to see. If you don't know, it's a Greek critter that's half horse half rooster. I'd love to see flying chicken horses (or dodo horses) in dino land!

Underrated word easily thrown around. That sentence can't be more truer
You aren't using the moschops at peak efficiency if you are whistling it to attack a target (the targeting AI on them is so so so very dumb, and they'll run away from a dead body sometimes). Just hop on them and press C to harvest creatures instead. Before you could ride moschops, it was the biggest pain ever to use them, Thanks WC for the bug that the players wouldn't let you take out of the game!
This video made me feel better :). I have a hard time understanding why people dont use direbears. Everyone jumps from raptors to carnos and then rexes and maybe gigas, while a bear can do everything those dinos do but faster and/or better. It's arguably the fastest ground mount with near unlimited stamina and very high weight while being able to kill everything except from gigas and carchas. I even used bears for bosses, even if they are not that great without a rider.
The other dinos on the list are also very nice, i enjoy using them (some more often than others).
Allo can be underrated in some situation, being the cheapest dino to take on and kill a wild Giga, a go to dino in Alpha Brute Hunt mission in Genesis part 1
To me it's the baryonyx as most underrated. The amount of times I've swiped people while doing black pearl runs is amazing
Frog is often one of my first tames, find a 150, literally just build a small wooden ramp and shoot it like 10 times, takes under 15 mins to tame on x1 and you have yourself a good travel mount for both land and water as well as something to help with prime meat. Late game you can just use them for cementing paste
I even used mine to tame a spino last time. With levels they can kill sharks pretty ez to get you prime fish meat

I love the Moschops it’s a literal Giant Rideable Puppy I love there level up animation it’s the best and they are amazing for kibble
i have found a great synergy in solo! I have a ovis farm and some dung beetles mixed in there. everything is set to mate and wander. the dung beetles harvest the dead ovis babies for huge amounts of rare mutton! :DD

Can someone explain how the dire bear is apparently an easy early game tame? Sure it’s easy to trap, but if you use arrows over darts then it will die a majority of the time, especially any one that’s not severely low level. And darts are unlocked later so it seems like a conflicting situation to me

The Toad is often the first tame I go for when starting a new game
I just thought of a 100 days idea how about under used tames for 100 days. I have used a lot of these creatures and videos are hard to find on practical uses the dimetrodon being one that I can never seem to use properly for eggs. Might be a good lost island kind of theme.
Igunadon was my favourite for a long time on ascension the infinite stamina got me out of a lot of tight situations.
Surprised the Pelegornis isn't on this list. I like that if it runs out of stamina over the ocean, it wont land it'll still fly. Down side is it only eats fish and auto harvests upon killing but other wise, pretty fantastic. I consider it the great middle ground between argen and ptreanodon. And easy as hell to knock out. Literally one tranq dart from the longneck
Equus is a narcoberry gathering beast. Every bite brings good amount adding its speed very few can compare. 20 mins at red ob enough for a giga tame

The most underrated in my opinion:
number one: *iguanadon*
the iguanadon has infinite stamina, and is way better than a parasaur. It can turn berries into seeds and with upgraded speed, and weight. Is the best land creature ever, what more could you ask for?
Number two: *diplocaulus*
It gives infinite oxygen, and while can't be ridden on land. Can be ridden in water, with decent damage and speed, it harvests black pearls with ease. (And like I said, a free scuba tank) Although it is kind of rare, as it is bullied by everything.
Number 3: *moschops* raasclark just explained it :')
Bears are used on official a ton for farming poly on ab, kangaroos for solo berry runs on gen 1 ocean pillars
Iguanadon is used for seeds for gacha towers on official too

Number one is probably not used that much because the way you have to tame it tbh. It's good but hard to tame. I love the kapro tho it's design is amazing but that's my preference hehe
when i started fjordur the first creature i saw was a unicorn. i now have much respect for equss
The beezelbuffo is a really good Dino for exploring becouse it's easy to runaway from raptors carno etc
I'd be fine with the Kapro if it wasn't jumping me like a mugger at night during runs into the redwood that happens to take too long. I'm a newer player, so I'm still learning.
When ever I start a cluster or single player I start on rag and tame a few decent level horses everytime
Can the iguanadons still get bio toxin from the spore mushrooms? I am currently playing aberration for the first time and I cannot seem to get it from them I only get rare mushrooms.
Edit: I did it again and I got some, I believe it takes a little bit of spore mushrooms to get some, just in case anyone else was wondering.
Carnos are also underrated. I actually faced the master controller with an army of carnos. The key was not to fight for a long period of time. Just enough to pass to the next round. I barely completed the boss solo and the with only 2 carnos to spare. Once vr reapers come out of it is over.
If you're playing Scorched Earth without dino transfers, Carnos are also a pretty decent option for taking out Rock Elementals - though now that Thylas get a bleed attack too they kind of take over that niche as well.
@@glennolson6505 yeah. But for SE I think megatheriums are the GOAT in SE. caves are a breeze
@@botchedoperations3485 there's one cave I really like the megatherium for - the mountain cave, where megalo's spawn. But for the desert one I prefer a Thylo since I can just bypass the entire jump zone with them, and the central one I prefer a wolf or saber for since I can just ride them through the narrow parts without playing around with cryopods.
Megatheriums are great on that map for a *lot* of other things too though, so definately recommend making getting a couple as soon as you can if you're spending any real time there.
OTOH the wild ones are worse than bloody tickle chickens when it comes to punishing you for leaving the gate open. They're *always* bug-raged and if they wander into your base they *will* kill every tame you've left out.
@@glennolson6505 I guess but that cave is no issue. The megatherium can sprint towards them with not issue. I even think there is not such thing as a natural ledge were dinos die instantly and players if they fall. Haven’t tried it but….I’m 97% sure. Or you can also take some grapples(only need one) and get to the artifact by the high ground. I then glide to the artifact or if your character is fast you can just sprint there. For me it is the goat for all caves. Since all caves have bugs. Haven’t been to maps with water access so for artifacts so I haven’t thought out of a better Dino. The ragnarok water artifact I tame a shark and spend all points into speed. Itchys are good but if they get capture by a squid. They aren’t tanky. Waiting to for lost island to then unfortunately wipe my server. Because I always think of just getting a second server to play on there and keep my progress on the current one. But not much of a dedicated player. My taming is 10x harvest only 4x narcotics cost 1x1, Maxed breeding and maturation(1x imprintbonus 1.5 imprints need to get 100%) everything else default. Thinking of just giving myself infinite weight and make it 10x harvest so it doesn’t become such a drag, starting over and over. And spawn a geny with an egg incubator. Just for easy early on breeding. Since solo, I have soo much stuff to do. Plus cryos are also 1 crystal. SE gets boring for the lack of dinos, clay manufacturing,and having to do my flying business on a moth until I Can reach the mountains for an argy or tapajara. Rag: I hate the puzzle cave.
@@botchedoperations3485 i've seen the insta-kill ledge, there's even sometimes a red drop that spawns on it just to bait people. Tried the jump stage once with a thyla (before discovering the climbing shortcut) overshot the jump and died instantly; also tried it with a wolf, and i managed to make it through but the jumps felt way too close for comfort. But I think i've seen people do it with a megatherium as well and it worked fine, so it's definately viable and the fastest way through the spawns at least; even the rubble golems go down pretty quick when you've got the megatherium buff. These are just my personal preferences.
I kinda like the clay stuff myself, and the moth was an interesting switch from the pteranodon. Did steal a wyvern egg with one once too, but that was also way too close for comfort and I wouldn't really recommend it either. Then a wild megatherium ate my moth (and my vulture, and my anky and... well, literally everything except the doedicurous which only lived because it curled up and everything ignores a doedicurous when it balls up.) It's one of my favorite maps, but I do get why other people aren't as fond of it... not as many different dinos and everything is that sandy color which makes it all look kind of the same.
Still haven't faced the master controller though.
Also, rex don’t attack the frogs unless if you hit them

For it to be worth u need to tame high lvl dimetrodon at least 2 not counting in narcs used for arrows or darts it will come down to 600 narcs on 1x using prime

Lots of ability that i don’t know they can do actualy they all pretty usefull i think they forgoten because people don’t much know about creature secret ability
