NB* if you’re having sex with someone who’s sexual history you don’t know, you’ve never been tested with and aren’t exclusive to please do use condoms. Contraceptives aren’t 100% safe, there’s a chance of you falling pregnant while on a contraceptive and they DONT protect you from contracting sexually transmitted diseases. Use condoms with them too to avoid any mistakes ♥️💋

Mihlali hearing you talk about your periods, has a doctor ever suggest that you have endometriosis? I have it and I also experienced painful periods with cramping throughout the month. I am currently on the 3 month injection because I just can't deal anymore with the pain and heavy periods (there was a time when I used to bleed for 2 weeks then stopped for 2 weeks, then it started again for 2 weeks). Still get the pain but not as bad. I heard a specialist in endometriosis say that painful periods are not normal and if a doctor tells you that, they talking nonsense. PS. Not trying to diagnose you or anything but just enquiring as it is a highly misunderstood condition and not spoken of even though 1 in 10 women have it

I really hate it when influencers give medical advice that's misleading, false or not entirely true.. I'm currently doing my Gynecology rotation so I see people everyday coming to the hospital suffering the consequences of bad medical advice.. You however always share true information and never mislead the people so thank you for that! 💕💕💕💕💕💕

Mirena has saved my life, many women suffer from endometriosis (abnormal growth of hormones) which is also indicated by hectic cramps and a prolonged period.
Yes, my skin is breaking out and I have acne scaring and I am seeing the dermatologist in June.
My experience has been a roller coaster from shorter periods to acne scaring.
However with all that said, like I sa aid it has saved my life and I would recommend it for those who are suffering from unbearable period pains.

Politics ie feminist views aside, the woman body is meant to conceive, contraceptives by their nature are meant to prevent such which is unnatural and harming to the body, your hormones etc. I was put on the pill shortly after starting my period because I complained about bad cramps. My body went through the most and I started experiencing break outs. As soon as I got to varsity I took myself of it within 6 months my skin improved, my period was regular and my mood and mental health improved. 2 years ago I visited a gynea homeopath and since then I haven’t looked back. Cramps are manageable (I hardly take painkillers), cravings are at a minimal, my period is regular which means I’m more in tune with my body. Basically if your only reason for going on contraception is trying to avoid pregnancy ask him to use a condom and if you more in tune with your body you can feel when you ovulating also get a tracking app to help.

Contraceptives just mess up with my natural hormones. I was advised to get the copper T cause it does not secrete hormones but i know a few ladies personally who had issues with it as well, one lady recently had her womb surgically removed cause of the copper T so it is a no for me too... I use a condom lol not all the time though but i have an ovulation app that i have not used cause my periods are irregular and that is caused by stress.

If you’d like something similar to Mirena, the Copper IUD is a good one because it’s non-hormonal. For me it made my period heavier, and my period cramps are now excruciating but like Mihlali is saying, you have to pick a struggle because our bodies react differently to different things.

Take a zinc supplement to offset the copper in your body. And use liquid iron to help the anaemia symptoms from the heavier flow. These are easily available from DisChem. If your symptoms don't clear after 6 months, speak to your gynae or doctor for a better alternative.

It's good to take a break from contraceptives, I took a 4 months break because it can affect your uterine lining where it can be extremely thin especially after many years of using it and that can have an effect when u actually do want to have a child.

Also guys if you are not sexually active don't use any contraceptive becoz some of them have long term side effects. Do your research and find out the best one. Ask your doctor don't use something becoz someone else is. Every body reacts differently to different chemicals. Thanks Mihlali for the information.

I fell pregnant in 2015 and my gynae at the time put me on the injection, Depro Provera the biggest side effect I got from it is turning 3 this year. I changed doctors and my current gynae put me on the Mirena. No weight gain, no mood swings, no Period absolutely none. Then boom, after 2 years Acne came to the party. I spent so much money on skincare, I honestly gave up. I want to go off the Mirena but just like you, im very forgetful so I will forget taking the pill.💔💔💔 I enjoy these type of video just as much as your reviews and tutorials ❤️
