  • I am not a critic, just a movie lover. Let me share that love with you!
The Empire Strikes Back (1980) is directed by Irvin Kershner and writeen by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan, starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fischer. All the rights belong to the studio and anyone else who might have them. I strongly encourage you to watch the movie in its fullness!

I saw Star Wars Episode 4 9 months after the premiere in May 25 1977. And have been a fan ever since. Besides the movies, I have collected the Dark Horse Comics, and now Marvel's current run. Video games, and the TV series (animated and live action) are great. Star Wars defined the type of Sci-Fi I enjoy the most,Space Opera.

What a very good video made by a passionate movie lover. I like your enthusiasm, I liked your definition of Star Wars at the beginning, one of the reasons why I fell in love with Star Wars was because it is a heterogeneous saga, a myth that recreates and pays homage to Akira Kurosawa's samurai films, westerns, the hero's journey by Joseph Campbell, to be films about war, politics, passion, love, strength, fear and many other current topics on which to learn and even philosophize.
I still love the franchise and watch Episodes 1-6, but I think The Empire Strikes Back is the best directed Star Wars movie and maybe the best scripted, the direction of Irvin Kershner was genuinely brilliant, I mean Yoda dialogues are probably the best lines in all the saga, the special effects improved and most of them aged very well, the Battle of Hoth is amazing, the monsters, the scenarios of Hoth (an ice and snow planet), Dagobah (swamp planet) and Bespin (a planet with a floating cloud city) all this in one movie, also the inclussion of one of the most iconic scores ever "The Imperial March", the romance between Han and Leia and the iconic quote "I love you, I know" with the music, Han freezed in carbonite is terrifyng, the duel between Luke and Vader will always remain as one of the best, , the "I am your Father" twist, one of the most iconic movie lines ever, parodied in other media such as Toy Story (which maybe some infants first watched and hear the quote) and Austin Powers, it mades imagine someone who wasn't alive in that time, how people reacted at this moment.
The original trilogy aged well in so many aspects, maybe some details don't, but they still remain as watchable today, as modern pieces of filmmaking that will continue to amaze and entertain generations to come.

Thanks, my friend! I genuinely LOVE Star Wars and, even though the modern era is a pale shadow, still can't get enough of it. Thanks for your comment-- I can tell that you love it just as truly and deeply as I do.

Some movies radically change who you are, no matter how silly they might seem to others. Empire is definitely one of those for me

Great breakdown of my favorite film. Crazy that I found your videos the day that the death of Matt from Logos made flesh was announced and his last video was published. You both show such passion, love and caring in your reviews.
