Man its so weird to see that place abandoned. I only went there once when i was a teenager back in the late 90s with my family. I really miss going to the Smoky Mountains, It's the most beautiful place ive ever been. I got a pic taken with some cowboy actors back then but sadly i don't have the picture anymore. Thank you for sharing your adventure there.

I can assure you that place will never reopen. It would take millions of dollars to get it in good conditions to reopen.
3:03 I rode that rollercoaster when I was a little kid. It was scary to me then as it went out over the edge of the cliff. They also had western gun fights in the street that was very convincing to my young mind. When I attended, I thought it was called GHOST CITY MOUNTAIN.

Although hating the trespassing, I do appreciate how respectful you were. This was the first amusement park that I worked at. It was so much fun. I used to attend the church service every Sunday. It is heart breaking to see how the trespassers have destroyed such a beautiful place.

Generally speaking, i don't think this "Dancer" answers comments on this video. Now although this video hit TH-cam i think in sometime January '24, the video itself seems to be well older, and i just have an odd feeling of maybe summer-ish '22. I was up in late october of '23 and when the foliage is down, its a hellofalot easier to make your way up the hill from the bottom. I noted evidence of deterioration when i was up there that isn't in this video, so i feel that it was shot before i was up there. As for the cameras, they were for use while the place was in operation. They aren't functional at present. There are no "security" cameras monitoring the top. Also he may have more video that wasn't posted. There's more to see up there than he showed. In this video tho, its very plain to see how the kudzu is taking over everything.

I parked at some strip mall looking antique store place to the west instead of leaving my car in the parking lot. Easy to to at zero dark thirty in the morning. And cameras? I never spotted any working cameras up top back then.
Sad how it closed the water line going up there failed and the old lady that ran the place could not afford to fix it up. It needed way to much work most all of the rides needed an overhaul. And she also could not afford security, so it was vandalized many times. What an awful area to think stupid kids would go up there and trash the place.

Beautiful environment and good commentary. One thing I'm wondering though is what camera and mic setup do you use? As with some other people on TH-cam, the audio quality is great, and with like no wind noise (yeah it was very calm on the day of this video, but even in other videos the audio is so good). Maybe newer GoPros can record sound so crisp and without much environmental noise, I don't know...

You're right, I'm originally from. FARRAGUT TN, a suburb of Knoxville, but I've been here as a kid and know exactly where it is...some pretty badass memories at this place with my family as a child

How did you not show the tower?!?! What dude?!! There's a whole area up top that you missed. Plus the houses off to the side literally had bullets and a blood stained mattress last time I was there.

Literally the day you filmed this video it was snowand ice and below freezing temps in north Alabama and i slipped on the ice and fractured my l-1 vertebrae taking my pup out to potty. Never thought I would tie myself to a video but hey here i am. Im healing great though and able to walk once again. Great video man
I went here as a kid twice, loved it and I plan to go here in the spring to take pics. Honestly anyone who tags abandoned places deserves to have their cars, homes, etc tagged up; The park looks in better ish shape than the last video makes me happy lol.

The park's biggest failure to re-open even after sales of the land, has been due to a Mudslide that occurred, as well as vandalism of buildings, and water pressure problems, in 2015 The park was going to re-open for the 2016 season, but that did not happen due to the amount of repairs to the coasters and rides, the park did not open and was offered for sale again.
2018 another attempt, the land was sold, investors however bailed on the project. 2019 a plan for the reopining for spring, but as of July 2019 the park was sold again...new investors and 2021 - owners planned to spend $200 Million to revitalize the park...COVID-19 came and well we know...2022 various lawsuits have been filed...July 28, 2023, a law suite was filed to determine the fate, ownership of the park was to be determined
I first went to Ghost Town back in 1996 or 1997. My dad forced me to go and o really didn’t want to. About the only thing I remember well is the chair lift. When you climbed the chair lift tower and said those look like big cameras, I think you’re right. When I went they would take your picture on the way up the mountain and give you the option to buy a color photo at the top. Just thought I would add my 2 cents. Thanks for the video.

I was probably 10 when we went there around 1978. The place was very cool to me as a kid, and that was the first roller coaster I ever rode,and i remember it wrecked my nerves. We saw shootouts in the streets and loved riding the chairlift,although by today's standards, it was probably not up to code. It's a shame it's not still open for people to enjoy.

I rode up that once upon a time 😅 cant believe its still standing! We were there once when some people got stuck on it too! They were up there for a long time! Glad it never happened when i rode it. That was also my first real Rollercoaster I ever rode too! They called it The red devil back then😂
The road around back would be an easier walk. Lol. It would take a huge park owner to come in and get Ghost Town back up and running in good shape. The current owners can't agree on anything.

I went there when i was a kid and i even still have a card from a super tall guy like 6'6 who worked there ill look him up to see what he did since i still have his card. They would have actors dressed as cowboys on the dirt road behind cover shooting at each other with cap guns 24:40 if i remember correctly they were behind barrels for cover
My grandparents would carry .y mother and her brothers there when they were kids. She'll enjoy this

went here almost 2 years ago still my favorite exploration ever. Drove my shitty old 7.3 idi f250 out there and spent 2 days on the mountain. Climbed the drop tower and slept on the balcony of one of the ghost town buildings. Definitely stayed too long because on the end of the second day I got caught and had to hide on the side of the mountain for 6 hours to avoid cops.
Some "worker-dude" make their way up there for something and see ya? I was up in Oct '23 and kept a vigilant eye out for problems, but never encountered any. I think I was on top for maybe 6.75 hours, far less than you. You're the first "urban explorer" I've ever come across with an encounter with someone up top. Love to hear more.
