what is the point of making it first into plates then melting in back down to make wire?

the copper plate making is a electrolysis process. It is another plant.

@@EwasteRecyclingMachinery but why use plate and not ingots from the foundry? or just the foundry skipping you and making the wire right off the batt from the ore?

@@danhard8440 copper used for electrical wire needs to be 99.95% pure therefore the process of purifying creates the flattened cathodes and not ingots. Ingots from the foundry are not pure and are used for other applications.
