Use a size 12 hook and a worm at a local spill way and a bobber with a 1/32 lead for a little weight and you can catch about 10 in 15 minutes about 1.5-3 inch panfish
Colombian shark catfish, as they grow, will require brackish and then full marine conditions by adulthood. Make sure you are prepared to set up a separate tank with gradually increasing salinity levels.
I own some bullhead catfish and I found that feeding them bloodworms is a lot easier and better. I get some frozen ones from the pet store, thaw them out, and throw them in there. They sink so they work perfect for the catfish.
The best way to catch perch or blue gill is using a small hook and corn. Just put 2-3 pieces of corn on the hook and drop it on their bed or near the shores if you're fishing a small lake/pond.
Those are white tip catfish which I seen sold at my local Walmart. If you want a catfish that resembles a shark, try looking into a iridescent shark. They grow about 3-4 ft.
Just incase your unaware, Columbian Sharks get completely massive! And will need a tank the size of your bass aquarium, and Columbian Sharks will also need brackish water
I've caught super small perch/crappie with mini mites. I have a few ponds by me and they chill by sewage drains. They go crazy after mini mites by me. Good luck!
all the fish in the 55 gallon are cat fish, because there are no truly fresh water shark. It is called a shark because of it's appearance that looks like a shark.
There are no freshwater sharks that you can buy at a fish store. They are all types of catfish. Specifically these types of "sharks" are catfish. If you want to check you can clearly see the whiskers. They just call them sharks to sell them easier. I would suggest if you want lunkers (like all of these catfish can get to be for the most part)get some redtail catfish. Just a fun fish and gets enormous if you have a pond or lake to put them in after they get huge. I don't know if theres some kind of brackish shark out there that you can buy at a pet store, but maybe. However, every fish I have ever seen sold as a "shark" in freshwater/brackish fish store tanks are catfish. I've worked at several and been in the hobby for over a decade.
officially, thats called being illiterate with names since according to biological sciences, Sharks refers to what many people assume to be the famed predatory cartilaginous fish of the ocean, such as Great Whites or Hammerheads to call Catfish "sharks" is just ridiculous

Go to deer park. You can catch 5 inch crappie with minnows or a red and chartreuse jigs fishing on the flats in about 15-20 feet of water fishing about 10 feet deep (I did this last weekend)
Find a school of perch or panfish, theyll be around them and use real small baits. either that or find a piece of timber that they are spawning on as soon as the water hits 50 deg in the spring
Find a dried up creek with little pockets of water and scoop up the water with a bole or a pitcher. There shod be all kinds of small fish that you're looking for.
You should replace the background on the 55 gal with a window tint, the kind you can get at Home Depot to smoke out windows. The plants will look a lot better against it and it let's a little sunlight in.
The Columbians(they are in the catfish family as well) get REALLY big! so when they start getting larger I suggest moving them to a 70+ gallon aquarium so they can live in comfort! Also, they are brackish so they will need to be slowly introduced to salt water as they get larger as well and eventually all the way salt water. I love tank Tuesdays btw and I look forward to it every week!!!!
electro shock method will give u a chance to sort out the size of the perch but maybe illegal . i think may be the most effective method with the right amount of voltage will only stun the fish for a little bit
You can trim your hair grass in half on a weekly basis to induce growth and runners. For fish you should just put tetra kind of fish since it's a planted tank.
You should cut hooks off of some baits and use one with braid and one with flouro just to see if it really makes a whole difference. It probly won't be very accurate but would be cool.
As others said, those "sharks" will get a few feet in size and need brackish to saltwater sooner rather than later. Unsure what the pet store told you. Hopefully you got a plan for them!
Those "sharks" are actually a brackish water catfish. They are born in freshwater an travel to the areas that the ocean meets the river. In brackish or full salt water they act like they would in the wild an stay in schools at the bottom of the aquarium. The reason they swim around so much in a freshwater aquarium is because they are trying to find the saltwater so they can relax an live there lives. Hope you do the research an learn about the special needs of those fish. The channel cat an the albino catfish are awesome though an I'm excited to see them grow. Tanks looks great too.
Great videos guys ... I live on a lake in NC & have experimented with a small aquarium consisting of water turtles, crayfish, bluegill & small fish from our lake ... I found the turtles to be very aggressive with regard to their consumption of minnows I feed them ... Keep up the great work ...
To catch small perch you just find freshwater clams snap from open rip up the meat inside put on a small little hook and let the perch eat it and then you cook it and then you can put them in
The best way to catch small perch is on the lightest rod you own on the smalles hook you have with a tiny hook and a tiny piece of night crawler or bread in a small pond
If you had a large flat shelf like rock, or something of the like, on the bottom of the tank that was propped up just enough for the crayfish to move about underneath but not high enough to feel threatened by Bonnie & Clide, maybe we could see more activity from Larry and Red? Just a thought. Love the tank and all your content fishing and otherwise! Excellent stuff! 8) Kevin McCuistion
The trick to catching a small perch is you need to use a cane pole. And it's not called fishing. You have to call it jerking. Perch Jerken. You will get em every time.
Bama bass I live 1 hour from Spanish fort and my Aunt and Uncle actually live there would love to fish with you some time! I'm 14 I got into bass fishing a year ago and you were my influence into starting fishing.
Killer tanks!!! I have a 120g that I am wanting to do as a planted tank and fill it with different catfish/sharks. Iridescence, Black tip, banjo, etc... pick up a banjo catfish.
they are called freshwater sharks by most people in the aquarium community. it's pretty obvious that they're actually catfish. But to those people that think freshwater sharks don't exist do a little research on the newly discovered species in Australia.
people should probably stop doing that because im sure many people came to this video and thought it was actually a species of shark small enough for a 300 gallon aquarium, which i thought was kinda silly but Catfish are Catfish, Sharks are Sharks, its like trying to say apples and oranges are the same fruit when they most certainly arent im aware certain regions have local names for animals, look at Tarantulas, depending on where you live in the world they might be called Tarantulas but could also be Bird-Eating Spiders or Barking Spiders, their all names for the same thing of course, its just regional differences but calling a Catfish a Shark is one im not familiar with and serves to be way more confusing for people who dont know what to expect

If you ever get a new tank, is there any chance you could get a grass pickerel? They are my favorite fish and they are amazing. Vicious hunters and really fast. Not that you have to, just a request🙂
Excellent job on the 55! Is that flame moss in the top middle? Also, are you using root tabs for your amazons in the big tank? You can make your own using organic red clay and roll osmocote on it. Make sure to tie the java fern and not bury the rhizome, the plants will die. Also, did you buy the stones locally?
Bama Bass if you guys do decide to put a turtle in the 300 gallon aquarium i would highly suggest a fly river turtle, they are the only fully aquatic freshwater turtle. And dont require a land basking area
Random Person is right its not uncommon for mature females to get 12+ inches, males are a little smaller but even my young one has already reached 7 inches. I have mine in a 75 gallon and i would say that is a minimum. They would do alright in a 300 gallon aquarium but would need a good basking (completly out of water) heat lamps and uvb lighting. The 300 gallon is simply not equiped to care for any semi aquatic turtle. And the only fully aquatic freshwater turtles are your mata matas, alligator snapping turtles, african snake necks and fly river turtles. All of which still need ubv lighting and the first two would absolutly eat any fish in there(not to mention the second getting much top large). So you would be limited to the later 2, again if ubv is installed.
Chris Mata they still require some kind of place to get out of the water, my missippi musk almost never basks during the day but occasionally i see her on land at night

Bruce and Skillet for the sharks
How often do you do water changes on the 300 gallon aquarium?
Columbian sharks are a brackish water fish who will eventually need to be in a tank with a substantial amount of salt.
Unfortunately, most pet stores don't communicate that to their customers.
Bonnie and Clyde's lateral lines are alot more noticable this video. Beautiful!
