They’re both the same guitar, but the ‘57 Goldtop will always be the coolest electric guitar. I love when guitars on the blonde/yellow spectrum of things have a gross green look to them. It looks sweet. 🤩
man, they sound very different. i would've thought pickups being the same would mean the sound the same. can't decide which one is best. i'll take both, thanks.
I have '68 Custom Reissue. I find it hard not to play that thing for hours at a time. There's just something about ebony boards too - the feel, sound and smell.
My ears says the black custom has more attack and note clarity. I don't even know what the hell that means :). Thanks mate fun video and well demonstrated
I agree, both guitars have the same pickups so I’d assume it’s the ebony board that’s causing that brightness and potentially the string age between the two guitars.
Gold tops sound really good, easily on par with other Les Pauls, I prefer the look of an Iced Tea burst. I like black guitars but a gloss black finish shows finger prints & other scuffs pretty easy.
@@LysanderLH the appetite guitar was made by Krig Derrig which was indeed a “fake” but was a replica of a 1959 Les Paul and made to an extremely high level. There’s only a few “Derrig” Les Paul’s in existence and in their own right sell for £25k+ due to their high quality and scarcity in the market. At the time Gibson didn’t have a custom shop and weren’t make reissues of the golden era guitars. Slash still uses his Derrig Les Paul on all his album recordings. Thanks for watching
@@squealingpigguitars2438 Thanks for the info. Last time I saw GnR was at Wembley Stadium in the 80s, so much of this info was unavailable but rumours still circulated. My point being, that any LP not made by Gibson/Epiphone but which looks and sounds exactly like a Gibson/Epiphone LP is a fake, regardless of its probably superior build quality, which let’s face it Gibson have always struggled with. Great playing in the video btw.
I love that no 2 Gibsons sound the same .
Occasionally you echo Somone else’s song .

@@alvaroquijano579 Haha that’s always the best decision. Why have 1 when you can have 2 😂

That Black custom was the one for me!
i say both but for colour and looks i go for Gold top.
Yes man! I prefer the gold top. Thanks for watching 🤟
No competition for me. I'm a Custom guy, though I have to admit, that opening Goldtop tone was a strong opening move.
Thanks for watching man! Do you own any customs? Yea the goldtop is a tone machine!

@@Canadianwheelchairguitar thanks for commenting man! Yes bursts and gold tops are killer
Easy Goldtop - not only sound better she also look better
As I'm getting a 3 pickups 57 custom reissue this week, I'll get the goldtop!😅
Great vidéo again!
Thanks man! Nice, congrats on the new guitar
@@squealingpigguitars2438 thanks man!
GoldTop - Both are great.
Yes man! I preferred the gold top in this comparison. Thanks for watching
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Same to you! Thank you
I'm a sucker for customs, look and sound wise
🤟🎸🔥
To me Customs are only good when they are worn-in. That one is too "plastic-looking". The Gold Top is more worn-in. It has more "stink" on it.
Yea you can’t beat the feel of an old 80s custom.
Always gold 💛
🔥🤟
what a gold top oh yeah !!!
Thanks
Gold top is winner for me
thanks man!
Gold Top
🤟🤟🤟
I like both. However, I'm not a fan of relicing.
But didn’t Slash play fake Les Pauls made for him by someone other than Gibson?

"mom can we have 57 les paul battle"
"we have 57 les paul battle at home"
57 les paul battle at home: (they're not 57s)
Do not recommend this channel.
Good one Ben, I'm blessed to have one of each... 🎵r0ck0n 🎵
Rock on! That’s awesome! Which Les pauls do you own?
