Great video and story, brother! Love the round about way you get to them, it makes it more fun. I feel the same way, Matt Woods, and I too plan on looking for a Stan Lee signature. And then one day I will be able to say, "yes, as a matter of fact, I have Stan Lee signed book." He was one of the good ones, like you and the Blaster's! Blessings, bub!
Stan Lee was a National Treasure. He was so important to so many of us. His storytelling was unprecedented and his charisma was his best asset. He sold Marvel Comics to all of us. Some day you will have that Stan Lee signed book in the collection. Are you going back to GarageCon this year?
@@MattWoodsComics Yes, Stan was and I would say still is the Man!! Steph and I were looking forward to coming to Garage Con this year, but we sadly, won't be able to attend. We're gonna miss everyone, but will be looking forward to seeing everyone the following year.
There are enough videos and channels about what cool variants and what books are coming out. I do like to watch those videos as well. They do a great service. But I want this channel to be more about the joys of collecting from an individual collectors point of view. Thanks for the kind comment.
So happy that a piece of my Todd run and Stan Lee yellow ocean warmth is in the BIGSPOON PC!!!! Thanks are all the love and support Matt. You’re a true friend to the Blasters.
Great stuff. When I was watching it and you said about seeing the signed book on Instagram I was thinking it was probably Steve’s! Love how you got completed a long awaited goal with the help of a mutual friend!! 🎉
Man this one stuck with me Matt. Its one of my biggest "collecting regrets" that I never did go meet Stan Lee. For the past decade I talked with my wife numerous times about hitting a con or something for just that reason, and I never pulled the trigger, just as you described yourself. Enjoyed seeing your yellow label!
Yeah, so many of Stan Lee’s fans never met the legend. We are all left with a sense of “we should have”. But there are so many interviews and movie appearances we can always look at. It just makes us understand the old saying, Father Time waits for no man. The icons of yesteryear all eventually move on. I live within 10 miles of the two houses that my grandparents grew up in during the 20’s and 30’s. One house was a very fancy house with Victorian architecture. My aunt lived in that house when I was growing up. It was an amazing property. The house my grandmother grew up in was a real shack. Her family was super poor during the Great Depression. They had 8 kids and lived in a two room shanty with no plumbing or electricity. They had an outhouse for a toilet and a stream right next to the house for water. I’ve seen pictures and it looked like the house was going to fall over. Today it is the exact opposite. The house my grandfather grew up in has gone into disrepair since my aunt passed away in the 90’s and the house my grandmother grew up in is a hunting camp and is so well taken care of. It truly looks like a nice cottage. Time moves on for all of us, and times change. Take advantage of the opportunities in the present. They might not be there tomorrow.
I returned to this hobby 14 years ago, my first purchase was a signed CGC TTA#35 by Stan Lee. I was hooked and as thrilled then as you are now. I decided to get ASM 1-100 all signed by Lee as well, back then. Worked on it slowly to begin, then picked up speed and then I stopped. The books were getting pricey. His price was increasing. His signature on my last batch was terrible. Got to 59 signed books (I don't have 1-8) and will just work on completing the run and 14 to go! Great video Matt! Keep up the great work!
That is an amazing goal! You need to sub up to Master and Madam Blaster Comics. They are working on the same goal right now. It is fun to watch as they work on the goal of 1-100 signed by Stan Lee.
@@MattWoodsComics I will do so. Thanks! I am happy with blue labels the rest of the way because that yellow is a big premium now. Wish I would have met him, but the way it was the last years of his life and how he was treated would have tampered my experience.
@@LetsStormTheTeaCupRide the last couple of years weren’t the best for him. He clearly lost a step but he did enjoy doing the shows. The Yellow Label books do enjoy a nice premium. Most of the books that Im looking for are just blue label. Im happy with those. Good luck getting the last 14 books in an incredible run.
That is a good reminder to live life to its fullest and never assume there is a tomorrow. So it looks like we both missed out on a chance to meet a major icon in the community.
Matt, so you finally got a Stan Lee Yellow Label CGC Signature Series book? Congrats and cool how and where you got it from. You kinda got me into looking at all my older RAW books to see if there are and Stan Lee or Jack Kirby or whomever signature at the bottom of the splash pages where they had used to signed back in the day....
I remember when they used to sign on the splash page. I’ve found a few books with creator signatures on the splash page in the collection. It is cool when you find a signature that you didn’t know about.
I blame Master Blaster for all sorts of stuff. Overslept? Master Blaster. Stuck in traffic? Master Blaster. Too many spam phone calls? Madam Blaster. Weird.
A few years ago i got a call from an old work friend.she had a box of CDs and a few comics for me for free if id take them.she left them in her shed for me to stop and get one day.In the box was a Ravage 2099 #1 signed by Stan Lee!!I never thought id own anything signed by him!! Not the greatest title but nonetheless its signed by the man!!👍👍
That is really cool. It is just neat to think you have something that was held by such an awesome person. Stan wasn’t great because he was a showman. He was great because he was humble.

Awesome book and it's a fantastic cover. Great story buddy. #keepitcasual #fullwatch #growtogether

Congrats, Matt on acquiring Stan's sig. Very cool you were able to pick is up from Master. We have a great community. #growtogether
While this community is large it is small at the same time. We eventually run into each other.
You’re awesome Brian, Cheers

What a Great Story.
Thanks for sharing Matt 👍

Great story bro👊🏾…. I’m trying to get back in the swing of this comic thing…. That book is 🔥
