- Lori Vallow, the mother of JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, was arrested on Thursday and appeared in court on Friday afternoon for the first time.
Rexburg kids Tylee Ryan, 17, and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow have been missing since September 2019.
Police say their mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, and her new husband Chad Daybell, lied to investigators about where the children are.

The Judge can’t ask that, it is now a criminal investigation and that question would be a question asked by the prosecution. She has a 5th Amendment to remain silent so she doesn’t even have to answer. This is not a trial they are hearings for bail ect. Even in trial, she doesn’t have to go up on the stand.

shellyscorner idk I’ve spent a lot of time researching this case for what ever reason and I almost want to believe there laid up n a bunker somewhere. But the why part I can’t figure out. If she wanted nothing to do with the kids when they went to Yellowstone would have been the perfect timing to stage something just like the lil boy from Blackfoot a couple years ago. Pretend they went hiking got seperated and called the cops but they didn’t. Or when Alex died she could of pawned it off on him some how. Onother thing Alex just married that girl. If you just married someone and a month later they die,you would think she’d be all over the place crying saying I love him so much why me but there’s nothing anywhere of her that I can find. Because until their whereabouts are known, he can’t be implemented on any crime because he has no legal responsibility to present children that are not his. Until it’s known that they are in danger or not being hidden, he hasn’t done anything legally wrong
It seems though that as the spouse of the parent with guardianship, he would most definitely realize the kids were not around and by not reporting their disappearance that he should be at least charged with obstruction or withholding information or some legal term along those lines. You can play dumb not knowing what happened to them, but he never reported them missing and that seems criminally negligent at the very least.
@Shari Montague There's this little thing we like to call "evidence". Lori is only being held on contempt charges on the presumption that a mother should be able to produce the kids that are in her care. Any moderately adept lawyer would be able to argue effectively against apply this same onus to a step-parent.
But SO SO SO many people are SO emotionally "hot" to see some manner of vengeance . . . they don't realize that (if my research is correct), 5 years and a fine of a few hundred dollars are the most they can do to her.
And arguable, her in jail doesn't bring them any closer to the kids' whereabouts. Free, she might have made some stupid mistake trying to make sure her tracks were covered.
But I would invite you to actually think about your statement Shari. Would you want to live in a state where you could be charged without any actual evidence?? Just because "people had a feeling"??

@@strousecasie When my now 32 y/o daughter was about 4 or 5, we were in a large clothing store that had a large circular clothing rack FULL of clothes, obviously among many other clothing racks. She was a petite little BEAUTIFUL blonde, blue eyed little girl. The POSTER CHILD looks of a child that was considered at the highest risk for abduction. And she was so trusting that she would have gone anywhere with anyone. All of a sudden she was gone! I had just seen her. She had been right there with me, and now she was gone! I was looking frantically around for her, calling her name and could NOT find her! I'm looking in ALL the clothing racks... Nothing! I even had the store personnel looking for her! I just couldn't find her. We'd been looking for at least 10 minutes! I was about to lose my mind. About the time I was ready to call the police (no cell phones back then!) I heard giggling from some where. We finally found her in that round rack of clothes that I'd been looking at when the whole thing started. But in her little mind, she was just playing hide and seek. I would absolutely LOSE MY MIND if something happened to one of my kids!
I not only have zero sympathy for this woman, but I think that there is a very high likelihood that she has thrown her kids off the side of a mountain somewhere! And yes, the last time they were seen was in a mountainous state park, in Idaho, I believe.

The reason that I disagree is because their obstruction is costing a tremendous amount of money to carry on this investigation. So if they've done nothing wrong, then they should have no problem revealing where the children are. If they have not been charged with obstruction, I certainly expect that to be coming, again if they haven't already been charged with it! If the children are alive, the only reason that I've been able to come up with would be because they're afraid of what the kids might be able to tell the police about the 3 deaths that this couple has been involved with. A good lawyer takes on a case he or she believes in and truly believes the defendant did nothing wrong. No one in their right mind can think that the defendant in this case is totally innocent. That's why these people are questioning the defence attorney. Also many people don't understand the judiciary process and that's why lawyers exist in the first place.
