Nice video showing how easy it is to save marigold seeds and grow new plants every year at no additional cost. I live in a dry climate, so I do leave my spent flowers on the plant a bit longer. They're a great plant to have in the vegetable garden as they deter a lot of pests and are so pretty, too!
My mom’s friend gave me some marigold seeds this year, I’m so excited to harvest the seeds this year and pass some along to my friends! This video helped so much!
Great thorough video! Exactly what I was looking for about WHEN to harvest and how to tell if seeds are viable. The petal/seed separating tip was amazing as well! Thank You!
Wow good to know that marigold can store for long time! I love your content as it motivate people to grow food at home, despite the tiny spaces or using container, still able to grow plants! thumbs up myfriend
That's a lot of seeds! I've barely much space to grow flowers most of my space are for greens but looking now at the marigolds there are really pretty...definitely need to find space for it in my garden now!!
Very informative, thank you! My first batch of seedpods I collected got moldy. I also live in a wet climate. Now I know I have to collect them earlier. Thank you very much.
Just so I'm understanding correctly: when the pod dries out and is ready to to harvested from the plant, you would put that whole seed pod in the ground? Wouldn't that be too many flowers growing from the same spot? I'm honestly curious to learn more about this method :)
Hello there, Yes you can pull them out if they are not flowering anymore. They are grown as annuals so they won't survive the winter. Thanks for watching.
@@GardeningWise thank you much appreciated... New to gardening since last Lockdown... Loved the colours I have this year.... Especially calendula they flower so abundantly... Stay safe..

Does it matter if the orange flower is still attached to the seeds? Is it detrimental to separate that from the seeds?
Good information friend. Stay connected.🤝🙂🔔🔔🔔🔔 added you.
For how long can this seed be kept?
I have had them for 2 years and they still germinated for me.
I usually dead head.
