I've been a saints fan since I was little even through the 7-9 seasons I still watched every game hoping our defense would step up and after the 2018 NFC championship I was too pissed off
I miss Deuce McAllister he was such a beast . He carried the team on his back and was the offense before the Brees era began

The season before we won the super bowl, we led the league that year in injuries as well and lost 6 games by 5 or less points. The ‘08 team could’ve easily went 11-5/12-4

The fact Brees wasn't MVP/1st team All-Pro in 2008 and 2009 seasons grinds my gears. He was definitely the best QB back then, even better than Manning.
2009 is inexcusable and 2008 was simply because the team overall was not great. More than likely they gave those awards to manning because of the name, not because he was the best QB those years. He’s put up just as good stats with less to work with yet he’s always ranked below him and not given the light of day.

This was my first ever live NFL game and boy was it a scorcher! Still the best game of the entire NFL International series ever played and despite the Chargers losing I left the stadium knowing I had just witnessed something special! Thank you to both Drew Brees and Philip Rivers for keeping us all on the edge of our seats right to the very last play!

Even though we lost the 2010 NFC Divisional Saints @ 49ers will always be a classic ... Had we pulled off that game there's not a doubt in my mind that Brees would have a 2nd ring....

In 2010 NFC WILDCARD GAME the 11-5 Saints lost on the road to the 7-9 Seattle Seahawks when Marshawn Lynch had his "Beastquake" 73 yard touchdown run which included an epic stiff/straight arm of Saints Super Bowl hero defensive back Tracy Porter.
Yep, they put up 32 points against the best defense that year at their stadium while losing the turnover battle 1 to 5. They would’ve been closer to 50 points than 40 had they held onto the ball. That’s how it goes sometimes. I have no doubt in my mind that they make it to the SB at the absolute minimum too.

I say this with great sadness and deep respect, because I love Brees and he's the GOAT of my heart at least, but he doesn't not look like this anymore. Watching this really shocked me into that realization even though I remember watching the old days too. Kind of like watching a kid grow up, you have a hard time remembering the starting point because you see them be them every day, but then you see a video from years before and it floors you.
It’s crazy because he still puts up stats like he is 30. Even if the arm strength isn’t all there anymore, he’s had the most efficient years of his career thus far.

I picture there were many casual British fans there who just assumed Rivers was the QB who had come back from a bad shoulder injury. That man had a great career with such a weird throwing motion. Then again, it might not have looked weird at all to said casual British fans.
While the Chargers were a bit unfair regarding Brees at least it worked out for both sides. It's always fun to see two stand up guys with so much talent in Brees and Rivers go at it.

Drew Breesus is such an underrated QB. If he had an organization even half as stable as NE has been for TB, he really could have had even more post season success. However, like Peyton, they ended up playing the majority of their careers (believe they're number 1 and 2) without a top-10 defense...

Hunter Arnold most of the people I continue to see talk about their top 10 all time QBs barely put Brees in the top 10, much less top 5. He’s underrated for sure, though not hugely.

Brees only started 4 seasons in SD though, so I think you could make the argument Fouts had better overall career there.

This is a comment that is 3 years later chances of it being seen slim 😆 but to those who forgot or don't remember last game of the season drew Brees played for the chargers I believe in 2005 vs kc or Denver forgot who Brees suffered what could of been a career ending shoulder injury to his throwing arm. Doctors were unsure if he would ever be the same & at that time Brees was no where near talent wise what he was with the saints so they let Brees become a free agent unsure of how his arm would turn out. 50/50 chance ..that's why they drafted rivers in 2004 because Brees wasn't what he was talent wise yet

Honestly this game shouldn't even be a revenge game, because Brees should've been the first pick in his draft, instead of taking Vick the Falcons should've took Brees and if they did I'm almost certain he would still be there qb today, and Michael Vick would've probably went to the Browns instead and who knows where Matt Ryan would've ended up
