This video is too many nice... many thanks for posting it! I replaced my power button as it worked intermittently. This video helped to make a difficult task way less painless. Love the close-ups... when putting it all back together they helped with orientation / placement of components. All features worked when powered back up. Couldn't be more grateful!!!
I repaired my phone successfully in 3 hours due to the missing part where somebody would explain how to integrade the new cable. That took me longtimes. The reassembling is very difficult and took 3 times more than the shown part. All in all the repair costed 15€ and I'm happy with it.
on the bottom-left side of the screen, there is a small gap to allow you to get in between the mid frame and the screen, try using something really thin to get in between while still using the suction cup. Try not to force it to avoid damage to your screen or the mid frame. Hope this helps!
Try This go to settings>general>date&time and change date&time to current. Usually if you unplug the battery the date changes to 1969 and on iOS 6 if the date is not current you do not get the signal. Hope this will work for you.
Hi I recently was taking my iPhone apart to fix my loose screen.i took the screen off and detached the battery and put everything back on and everything worked great except both the home and power button don't work at all. What do you think this could be ? Software or hardware? And what should I do?
I've purchased the flex cable, but how does the switch on the new flex stay in the silent on off bracket? It appears glued in, it's on the back side of the bracket not sandwhiched in between like normal. I can get it to sit, but what's preventing it from backing out?
I just used your video and it fixed the power button but now I am not hearing a ringtone or getting vibration, any ideas? The speakers seem to work fine when I play music just not when I receive a call.
step 1: "I could switch the battery, this won't be hardest" step 2: buy happily the bottoms at ebay for 2€ step 3: while waiting them to arrive, search a descriptive video for replace them step 4: feel so deezy for realizing how many diminute screws will you manipulate step 5: search for the nearest technical service
I need to repair a lockbutton from an iphone 5. It's not the flex cable, but the pin where the lock button bracket is attached to. Is there any way how to remove this pin from an old iphone 5 back housing?
I might add that I have been a master automobile technician for over 25 years and would consider this to be more than difficult. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would put it at in eight.
thats true ill scale it with his instructions more like a 9 since he is missing critical info also the other problem of reassembly what the heck i have to skip forwards and backwards in the video? thats just half job done right there like they saying right yousa want to do it yourself get stuck argh should've followed this vid should rather go and find other vids and i expected an professional would post a professional video
ha ha ha at the end of the video he says "Follow the steps in reverse order" How about you do a video in reverse order? We have to see what components you are overlaying back into the phone internally
Yes, it's the cable. That's because the real button is integrated in the cable. I did the repair as my volume buttons and power button didn't worked and now everything works.
lol yeah the point is to fix the bludy button so he could've said right use assistive touch and press and hold on lock screen wow he really skips critical info like the frikken last part where he should have showed how to remove the silent switch off the old flex cable do it wrong and the bludy pins break off! wana know why i know that cuz thats what happend to me now i gotta go to nearest ifix or wefix to get the bludy part
Love guides like this, except for one thing, stop doing it on prepped phones, it's taken me 25 minutes before just to remove the screen with a heat gun because of how well there glued in, things like the wifi ribbon DO NOT come away as easy as that, you really do need a heat gun for this job, I do alot of phone repairs and this job, start to finish takes me two hours and is fiddly, so be warned.
they intentionally left the last part where you need to remove the ringer from the flex cable. this is the actual challenge if you get flex only, you need to remove it without breaking the plastic posts which happened to me and cleaning them out caused the metal part to dismantle into 2 pieces. I used flame to glue them back but when installing the new cable with the 3 posts it broke again and I cant fix this. short story, buy only the metal bracket flex cable or you will suffer.
I think this is aimed at the slightly more experienced user but seems easy enough to do (I do repair phones for a living though so maybe it's just me) :)
I just bricked my sisters iPhone using this video. After further investigation it turns out you should disconnect the battery terminal before the 3 connectors holding the screen on. Other than that it's a pretty good tutorial.
Yeah it was the power button that failed so other than running the phone battery flat there was no way to turn it off. It's not a problem now though she's got a new phone
Someone fixed my power button but after that my iphones reboots. If an iphone 5 reboots or restart every 2 or 5 minutes, It could be the flex ribbon or the battery?
These directions are not good, try someone else's directions. They fail to tell you some critical things like most of the new switches don't come with the switch bracket on them. In order to change the switch bracket you have to cut the 3 black tabs off the bracket and then use a soldering iron to melt down the 3 pegs on the new one. DO NOT PEEL THE WIFI ANTENNA OFF.! Volume up and down buttons may not function correctly on replacement harness if you tighten the screws in all the way! That problem is noted in other people's videos. Using this video alone will just get you up a creek without a paddle.
Great video but here In Syria if it costs you 10$ to buy new buttons you can go to any store (not apple's retail store because we do not have any ) it will repair it for you for another 10$ so it will cost you 20$ in total with no effort that's in Syria at least anyway that is a really great video now I know how much effort does it takes from the guy to fix this it is fair to ask 10$
Wow thanks for the great advice, might just take a trip to syria.... although i believe it won't be just the phone that will be arranged into little pieces.
You are easily amused. It's the same effect that makes car tires appear to spin backwards on TV and in movies. Look at the screw itself instead of the screwdriver tip and it's obvious.
DO NOT USE THIS VIDEO! The instructions are completely wrong! They never mention that screws have different lengths even though they look the same (you really need a maginifying glass).
Ok guys great video buttttttttt come on y’all could kept it going on how to put it back together but nooooo you say just follow the instructions backwards. But I’m just going to throw my iPhone in the trash lol
First time ever opening up my iPhone 5 to fix this problem. Directions worked like a charm. Very much appreciated.

iPhoneRepairMedia is so awesome, I have made so much money with their information, thanks a lot guys this is really helping to build my business!

Hello, why we need to remove the WiFi antenna? This should also work if it is not removed, or am I wrong?
I've purchased the flex cable, but how does the switch on the new flex stay in the silent on off bracket? It appears glued in, it's on the back side of the bracket not sandwhiched in between like normal. I can get it to sit, but what's preventing it from backing out?

I'm using the suction cup do remove the screen but the screen doesn't come out ! i removed the screws ! What can i do ?

Great tutorial!
When the power button gets unresponsive at times, it means the flat is damaged? There´s not really a deffect in the button itself?
Yes, it's the cable. That's because the real button is integrated in the cable. I did the repair as my volume buttons and power button didn't worked and now everything works.
Hi, I managed to repair my wife´s phone, but she them broke the screen and there aren´t any good replace screens here.
step 1. TURN off the iphone 5 step 2. Fix the TURN off button...
''Step 1 turn off the iphone.'' me: okay.... wait.. xD
Ha ha ha ha !!!
+LessOfficial Assistive Touch ;)

Tried taking of the battery but seemed to be a little stuck. I punctured the battery. Can i try turning on the phone? Or will it catch fire?

I like how the bottom screws unscrew clockwise in the video :D

Saved me. Thanks!
Thanks to Steve Jobs for inventing the assistive touch button!
es de mucha ayuda, gracias y sigue asi, Flex cambiado con exito! :D
what step 7 component name ?
I think this is aimed at the slightly more experienced user but seems easy enough to do (I do repair phones for a living though so maybe it's just me) :)
I just bricked my sisters iPhone using this video. After further investigation it turns out you should disconnect the battery terminal before the 3 connectors holding the screen on. Other than that it's a pretty good tutorial.
As long as your phone was off, you should have been alright disconnecting the screen... But you are right, it is safer to start with the battery.
You are so right.
Yeah it was the power button that failed so other than running the phone battery flat there was no way to turn it off. It's not a problem now though she's got a new phone
I am very proud of you,
Someone fixed my power button but after that my iphones reboots.

Absolutely correct
All that just to repair a mute button? Fuck that.
Bruce Wayne Phone or button? I just sold the phone on ebay rather than get a new mute button lol. I'm now the unproud owner of a blackberry :O
Bruce Wayne Init haha :)
+cwuzii sellung was not necessary, but blackberry was a good decision
S. Werner Lol that was 3 years ago. Got an iPhone again now hahah :)
Jesus christ you are back ;D
what step 7 name ?
Solution: Use Assistive Touch
Great video but here In Syria if it costs you 10$ to buy new buttons you can go to any store (not apple's retail store because we do not have any ) it will repair it for you for another 10$ so it will cost you 20$ in total with no effort that's in Syria at least anyway that is a really great video now I know how much effort does it takes from the guy to fix this it is fair to ask 10$
Zainab Nabe yeah if you wonna get shot at or blown up lol
Wow thanks for the great advice, might just take a trip to syria.... although i believe it won't be just the phone that will be arranged into little pieces.
This doesn't even show how to fix it it just shows you how to take apart the phone…
You must have missed step 14...."remove brackets and transfer to the NEW FLEX CABLE"
The way to fix it is to install a whole new flex cable
Oh this is medium :)
Step one, Wait..... you mean I should wait for my battery to drain out 1st?
SCREW this i am getting a new one
MEDIUM DIFICULTY?? KIDING ME????
How to fuck with someone repairing an iPhone: put an extra screw on the table
You are easily amused. It's the same effect that makes car tires appear to spin backwards on TV and in movies. Look at the screw itself instead of the screwdriver tip and it's obvious.
Ha ha lol he said vibrator
Great
Easy ken
nice
ill avoid this being the iphone 5 still has a warranty.

without chance!!!
Guess I'll be going without my vibration and volume switch for a nice minute. Shit too hectic lol
What the fk it just told you to remove everything. Then they just expect you to know how to do it in reverse. Lol.
That was a scary video tbh. I will never attempt
Too much for fixing the volume
